Overall, not a bad community center. In this month of December, the community center is decorated with Christmas trees and holiday decors. Absolutely the worst concert experience I've ever had. I went to see Kapo, a Colombian artist, with my husband. We arrived around 7 PM, since the concert was scheduled to start at 8 PM. The doors did open on time, but the artist didn't come on stage until nearly 12:45 AM--almost five hours later. On a Thursday night, with many people traveling from far away, that kind of delay felt incredibly inconsiderate and unprofessional. To make things worse, a random guy tried to pick a fight with me and my husband for no apparent reason. The situation was childish and unnecessary, and instead of diffusing it fairly, the security personnel sided with the guy who instigated the issue. Despite the venue being packed with security--which is understandable given the crowd size and alcohol being served--their handling of the situation was disappointing. Speaking of alcohol, they were only selling buckets of beer and full bottles of liquor--no single beers, no glasses of wine, no cocktails. That decision alone created a volatile atmosphere, and it's no surprise people were getting drunk and starting problems. While I don't place full blame on the venue itself, I do hold the event organizers responsible for the poor planning and lack of crowd control. As a Latina living in the U.S., it's frustrating to see artists come here to "put on a show" only to act like divas, showing little regard for their fans. I was genuinely excited to see Kapo live, but this experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn't even enjoy his music afterward. I left the concert early, anxious and disappointed, surrounded by people who didn't seem to understand how to behave in public. It's frustrating that incidents like this contribute to negative stereotypes. It's not fair, but it's the reality--and events like this only reinforce those perceptions. read more

My son went to summer camp for 1 week here and he loved it. The camp people are very nice and caring. My son came super happy after every day and describing what he made that day. His Lego skills also improved by a lot in just a week. Would definitely come back next year again. Taking off 1 star as i think they should have an adult person for checkout as well rather than just counselors. read more

I attended a co sponsored Silicon Valley Reads program where the author Bill Griffeth spoke of his genealogy background, which totally changed when he researched it further. Not having them available is simply put, negligent. Hope upper management can actually be present in the facility to produce impact driven results. I have been to this place twice in the last one week. First I went for the bollywood jam and then second time for the yoga with Dr. Sachin. Both the experiences were very good. Bollywood jam had some issues with the audio system but seemed like it was just a bad day on the day i visited. The teacher was very enthusiastic and full of energy. The selection of songs was excellent. Steps that we did were quite catchy and were easy to catch up considering it was my first day. Dr. Sachin is very knowledgeable and shared a lot of his experiences in our first interaction with him. He gave both of us personal attention, corrected our postures and reminded us to take deep breaths while performing specific 1-2 mins of acts he taught. He also took both of ours phone numbers and email ids and has shared a ton of information. Even though they have increased their fees, I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. As a monthly individual registration, they charge 45$ or if you just show up on a daily basis they would charge you 10$ a day. I remember last year they provided a 3 day free trial period to make sure if you like their fitness program before you sign up for a monthly or annual program. read more

At the Yelp's Elite Bollywood event: there was Henna painting, buffet food by Amber Cafe, Fairycake mini cupcakes (which also served milk), drinks by Lillet Blanc and Fuze, and Bollywood mixed jams by DJ Pudgey. (see my other reviews for these vendors). The event was fun, but I'm here to review the community center. The center had a very cultural theme and there's a huge convention like room in which the event was held at. This venue seems big enough to rent out for parties/banquets. Apparently they sell food there? I forgot to check in when I was there but if you spend $5, you get a free chai. I saw that as a yelp check in deal. I think holding a Yelp event there will be good publicity since it seems like the public doesn't know much about it yet. read more

Organized a wedding sangeet here (in the big hall I forget it's name) and have no complaints whatsover. Deepak (Chopra) kept on top of things, rapidly fixed anything that deviated from plan, and let us know when something started to drift. ICC provided the Hall; Catering, decorations, bartending, photography, lighting and DJ services were our responsibility but ICC arranged meetings (specifying deadlines for critical meetings) with their preferred vendors, and provided storage and other services to the vendors as needed. Every vendor they suggested worked out very well. (I just finished posting reviews for all of them - dated today) With so many moving parts, a fairly high degree of vigilance was naturally required from all parties :) and while we made sure we did our part so did ICC and ultimately the arrangements drew a lot of praise from all the guests. read more

We just had a first communion event at the small Banquet Hall and i was not impressed at all with the hall itself. The hall had no AC at all. It was very warm and many guests were uncomfortable due to this matter. When i asked the person in charge to turn on the AC the response i would get was that the hall already had the AC on and it was already turned down so it could be very cold. They brought us a couple of fans but it really didn't help at all. It only helped if you were standing in front of the fan. Overall the staff here at this community center is nice and helpful but i would not rent a hall ever again here at this place due to this matter. Breaking News: Archie G. steps away from his keyboard and into a Bollywood music video! (Yes. The headline is true. There is video evidence at the very end of this review. Please feel free to skip ahead if you hate my writing.) A (sort of) quick back story how I arrived at the wonderful India Community Center: I play in several recreational soccer leagues. During the week, I play in a couple co ed leagues. As I play goalkeeper, I end up playing on many different teams. Sometimes, as a keeper, you get passed around more than Angelina from Jersey Shore. When you play on different teams, your body breaks down and you have to settle on a team or two (or three). So through my Palo Alto team, Pulcini, I met my friend Katherine (Katie) and eventually, Francesco (Frankie). And through this team, they met, fell in love, and decided to get married. Oddly enough, they are not the only love connection that was made on the team. Seriously, there's Match dot com, eHarmony, and Pulcini soccer club. Anyway, since most of Katie's friends and family live in the Washington area, she decided to invite the players from Pulcini to theengagement party. And that's how I somehow, someway ended up at the India Community Center. Review of the India Community Center: Frankie and Katie decided to not only host an engagement party here, but to make their friends and family take a couple hours of Indian dance lessons, and then participate in the filming a Bollywood music video. That's right. A Bollywood music video to capture their unique love. This is pretty much what every Irish girl from Seattle, Washington and Italian boy from Pordenone, Italy dream of their whole life, right? The Indian Community Center is amazing. It looks cool from the parking lot (and there is plenty of parking). The entrance is like a mix of old school Indian and modern California architecture, if that makes any sense. Upon entering, the place looks clean and modern. But it is busting at the seams with culture. Speaking of seams, you have women walking around in traditional Indian clothes. And that wasn't just from the people in our party that dressed in their best "Bollywood" clothes. The crowd here is friendly. I was greeted by several Indian men with a smile. I even smelled some delicious Indian food in the distance and I saw that an African-American couple had just gotten married and were having Indian food for their reception. How. Freaking. Awesome. Frankie's father, Diego, with his awesome Italian accent, greeted me and every other person that showed up. And there were plenty of us. We were escorted to a private dance room, and for several hours we were taught a dance routine by a talented Indian woman and her two student assistants. For whatever reason, the men had more to learn. Luckily, the guy next to me was channeling his inner Channing Tatum and he knew the routine best. He helped me learn it better during breaks and eventually, we were helping out everyone with the steps. Randomly, this cute old Indian couple stopped by, we invited them in, and they learned the routine fairly quickly. By the end of the day, we felt like a community. A community of people who were ready to eat, drink, celebrate a beautiful love cultivated from a beautiful game, and eventually see the finished product. I don't think the service here is good and friendly, but only for money. We want to join Sunday club, but we choose Sunday by mistake. When we realized before the class, try to call for schedule change or any possible solution. But the result is that after checking the schedule, sports director came back say that they can't do anything after class starts though when we registered, the first class was already started. This place is so inappropriately named. It is NOT a community center..... More like a business center. It charges people for everything and they are downright rude and unprofessional. You would think that as a community center it would let a small upcoming, active non profit organization who survives and thrives solely on volunteers, use an auditorium for public service??? NOT... I booked the ICC for my wedding so I spent a lot of time here. The booking process was kind of like buying a car. Nothing was quite concrete. If you're used to doing business in India, you'll get to relive that by doing a event at ICC. Thankfully we had written a clear contract of everything and had multiple people witness it. The day of my wedding while I was busy getting ready and such, the rest of my party was bringing in Alcohol for the reception. They were stopped at the door, even though our contract clearly stated we will be supplying our own alcohol, and we are paying for wait staff. Thankfully my friend was at our contract signing, and was able to prove it to them. Lots was promised to us, like colored uplighting for the room, and the day of things magically didnt happen. They didn't block out our side of the entrance, so we had random folks coming around. The day was still the memorable, but it was friends and family that helped do that, not the ICC. If I ever need a venue for another large event, I will not be coming back. read more

I have been a member for some time now and all I have is +ve feedback. The fitness classes are excellent. I don't know about others but I find the facility clean. I hear of incidences n the past where the staff thought that they were the bosses - but for the past year I see the behavior changing. I have no complains about the staff. The restaurant is great - serve excellent biriyani/dosa's. Child care facilities are great (and its FREE). The bollywood aerobic classes are free for members. Try taking these classes elsewhere and you will be paying at least $10 each time.. try and beat that! read more

Stoped in for a snack, though I've been here before. ICC gets props for having a spacious, modern space with amenities. Banquet halls, meeting rooms and exercise studios. All clean and quite attractive actually. There is also a cafe which is a sattelite of Amber India. Menu is the usual suspects with consistent pricing. Had to wait a bit for my thali, but this aint' no buffet. When my tray did arrive it was suprisingly well plated despite the use of disposable plate and utensils. Naan was hot, but one of the chicken pieces in my curry was cold at the bone. I cut into it to make sure it was cooked through and it was. Obviously previously made and then warmed up. But no foul. That said, IOC is certainly a gem in multicultural Milpitas. Another set of props for continuously hosting the Sunday farmer's market. Okay...minus one star for parking. I am inspired by this place. You get a great sense of community here. The classes, cultural events, lectures, medical and legal clinic, and fitness machines provide a unique experience. Members and staff are friendly and will greet you with a smile, hello, and how do you like being a member. Everyone seems to enjoy being there. I'm here almost everyday. It is also family friendly with a kid center and activities. Being a member here gives me that Cheers feeling-where everyone knows your name. My favorite classes are Power Yoga (just finished this evening and the instructor has the most soothing voice and the oil on the forehead is such a nice touch at the end of the class-with Anuja?), Bollywood Cardio (challenging and fun, the music is great-with Divya?), Shelly's Body Pump, and Marco's (he's friendly, funny and goes step by step) dance classes. I feel like a dork in the dance classes, but everyone has fun and is encouraging. I'm always laughing at myself. My co-worker also joined. We tried the hip-hop class and would give each other a shy smile and look, but in the end, we were able to keep up, and it wasn't so bad. The classes are well-liked as evidenced by the sign-up sheet and sometimes they have to turn people away. The slide-card lockers are convenient so I don't have to worry about a lock. The showers have great smelling shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in pumps in each shower. Plenty of showers, a suana, clean facility, suggestion box, fundraisers...the list of benefits can go on and on. The membership is such a great value. They are undergoing expansion right now and seem to be constantly improving the center. I am impressed with this place, and they have the support of many interesting social and academic groups. I give it my highest recommendation. Great farmer's market on Sunday for fruits and veggies--great price for the Rainier cherries. My niece and I enjoyed funnel cake and snow cones. Been a member for only two weeks but I really enjoying going to all the classes so far, the work out machines all has TV and is brand new. The changing room has all the basic amenities you need to get in, workout and head out to work....shampoo/hairdryers/q tips/tons of towels/clean spacious locker. It is like club sport but family friendly and a lot more affordable. I love the array of classes they offers. This review is based on the one week of cultural immersion camp my 6 year old attended last week - summer 2015. It was a superb experience for him - with a mix of activities like yoga, dance, singing, and a little info about India. There were around 10 high school students - who coordinated their activities. My son felt very comfortable going there and infact looked forward to it. We ordered lunch for all 5 days - mostly indian food. The best part was a super cool show they put up at the end of the week - an amazing dance performance and couple of song renditions - hum honge kamayaab, one popular desi number followed by the national anthem. If traffic was not an issue, I would have enrolled him for more weeks. Just loved this camp. read more

When I went there, I was completely blown away by their facilities. It has day care, preschool, amazing fitness coaches, great restrooms and nice equipments. I hired them for my wedding event. Person who is in charge was very tough and was very unreasonable. He works with certain decorators (Pamela) and caterers that we did not wanted to hire as we already chose other vendors. Due to not hiring the vendors they recommended, they made whole experience night mare. I took my husband, in laws, and other family members to show venue. They were so rude and i felt so insulted. They also purposely gave unreasonable hours (at 4 am) to the decorator I hired to make things worse. At that point, we already sent out our wedding cards, and it was too late to cancel the venue. Report to ICC Management - RUDE and ARROGANT staff at New Year's Eve 2016 party event with dis-respective and unethical behavior with their guests. My family of three was at the New Year's party organized by ICC (31st Dec. 2015). My wife and I were hoping to have good family time with our child at new year's eve. However, we came to know that they had MANDATORY child care for children aged between 3-12 after we reached there. We wish we would have known this before going there. Actually, they had a great family night last year where the entire family was able to enjoy together. Anyways, we didn't have any choice than sending our 4 year old to this child care to completely strange (and rude) child care people. The children were not allowed to join there parents until 11 pm. I checked on my child few times and seem to be ok until the last time I saw her, she seemed to be very uncomfortable. Also, few children mentioned to me that they feel so boring and forced to be in this play care where food was lousy and cold and children just wanted to get out from there and wanted to be with their parents. Unfortunately, child care/ event management did not address this concern. So, I asked the child care management that I wanted to PICK UP my child from child care. The staff at the child care responded very RUDELY that I CAN NOT get my child until their schedule time to release all the children. I disagreed with their response based on PARENTING LAW OF CALIFORNIA which allows that "A parent can pick up their child from school/ day care/ child care for any reason". Based on that belief, I repeatedly requested child care management that I will stay with my child outside the auditorium (in the lobby) until they officially allow children to the main event in the auditorium - Following the Event RULES. FINALLY, I had to loose my patience and raised my voice against their rude and inappropriate behavior and asked that I need my child now. The lady in charge (seemed like a non-indian lady in indian outfit)) was very RUDE and ARROGANT that she called up 911 and WRONGLY alleged that I'm intoxicated and disturbing their party, COMPLETE LIE. As a matter of fact I NEVER drink and was completely sober that later CONFIRMED BY Milpitas Police upon their arrival at the scene. SURPRISINGLY, they started releasing children from child care right after the 911 call was made - I'm pretty SURE they realized that they were not doing the right thing and all the other parents like me were lining up to get their children. We were asked to leave the even very rudely by the same LADY and had to leave the party. After we left the building, even POLICE confirmed that I have a right to pick up my child anytime from a child care or even from a regular school and I was SOBER. We had several WITNESSES and supporting parents like us who wanted their child back ASAP (It seemed like a juvenile center not a child care where you have to beg to see and pick up your child). We were really disappointed by disrespectful behavior from ICC event staff specially in a family event party and looking forward to discuss this matter with upper management b efore considering further actions. We have a HIGH RESPECT for ICC because of it's community offerings to the people of all ages. We want to report this unpleasant incident to ICC management to make aware that it's prime image in the Indian community is not compromised because of (rude and arrogant) event staff who did not know how to BEHAVE with their Guests read more

This review is for ICC as an Indian wedding venue. The pros: - The event managers are genuinely warm and kind people who personally attend all events and seem to be working all the time. They've very prompt and responsive to emails and phone calls -- although it is your responsibility to make sure you are very thorough and specific in your inquiries! - The hall is huge and can be arranged in different ways -- I believe it can accommodate more than 400 people banquet-style. - There is a large stage, which is perfect for the ceremony and/or entertainment. - The venue allows indoor fires. - The staff is expedient in rearranging the set-up, such as between the ceremony and reception. - They have worked with many types of Indian wedding vendors, so they can provide referrals, and generally can work easily with most of them. - They have an on-site cafe (Amber Cafe) if you want to grab a quick snack before/after meetings with them, or even set up a lunch or dinner in one of the meetings rooms with your relatives the day before the wedding. - They have most stuff that you could need, although you may need to pay extra and/or be extremely persistent in order to get it (ie bar set-up, access to A/V stuff, an extra room to use for changing, and high chairs, which they somehow only had 9 of). The cons: - It is expensive. They have different pricing options depending on whether you are using just the space or also the wait staff, but I think it is probably expensive either way. To be honest, we were on a time crunch, so we didn't research it as much as we could have, but you should definitely get quotes from restaurants to see if it makes sense to pay for the wait staff at ICC or just grab the venue at a flat rate. - The ability to negotiate discounts with vendors was exaggerated at the time of signing the contract. - Bring your own drinks -- alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They will help you wheel it in and leave it in their office a day or two before, and they can set up a bar and serve the drinks for a fee. - We didn't realize that the venue did not have beer glasses. They could have served beer in soda glasses, but it wouldn't have looked right -- so we ended up having to rent beer glasses. - They don't slice/serve cake! They ended up doing it because we were not prepared with any other option, but the cake just sat there for a good while before they finally dealt with it. This is something that definitely should have been more clearly communicated -- but it also is just weird that it wouldn't be a norm for them to handle it. Overall, the event turned out great. There were just a few quirks that worried us in the week or two beforehand, but it was very helpful to have two event managers present on site. ICC combined with Eve Decor did a pretty impressive job. read more

Bawarchi restaurant: We ordered chicken biryani and mutton biryani. The meat was undercooked. We could see red streaks of uncooked meat. The biryani was extremely oily without any taste\flavour. The $20 bucks that we paid was waste. We had to throw the entire stuff out. I was craving biryani.. now wont even look at it after todays experience. We have eaten biryani from here many times over 6 months. The quality now is so low and not worth going here. Try other restaurants definitely not this one. We have never had such terrible tasteless food ever in the US. read more

If you are willing to pay higher-than-normal prices for a good gym and are willing to accept that the place is run like they are in India (lax management, take customers for granted), then this is the place for you. The center is a commercial establishment rather than a "community" center. The original ICC several years ago felt more like a community where people got to hang out and know each other. Now it's all about collecting your money and renting out facilities. With an exception or two, customer service is non-existent. read more

This is a horribly run business center, not a community center in any sense of the word. The staff is extremely rude and very unprofessional. They only care about your money and you will be charged for any and everything. Member rates are very high and you will also never find a free event here. And any event that happens here never starts on time and if it includes dinner, you better eat before coming because it is never served a decent dinner time, it's always more towards bedtime when you're completely famished! Front desk staff are so incompetent with snobbish attitudes and no customer service skills at all. They will never warmly greet you or use polite speaking manners. They can't even answer the simplest of questions such as if a class has been cancelled or not, if an instructor is still coming or not, or if a classroom has been moved to a different room, the answer is always "I don't know." Horrible communication skills, very unapologetic and careless attitudes. Playcare/school staff are not kid friendly at all, it doesn't seem like anyone there has been trained in childcare. Some will try to be nice to kids while you are present, but as soon as you leave it's a different story. All the summer camps are super expensive and run by inexperienced high school volunteers to cut costs even though they charge an arm and leg for camps/activities. All the machines in the fitness center are never working at the same time, there are always a few or more out of commission and they take forever to repair them. The ones that are working are always either super dusty or dirty. Same with the classroom floors, dirty! I don't usually write reviews, but sometimes you are so impelled either in a positive or negative way to write one so others do/don't experience the same, here it is obviously negative. Seems like not many people know what ICC is good for, what it is famous for and what it is known for. Well all not is bad. ICC is good for small community functions and thats about it. Let me explain why this place is ideal for other events (concerts, dance, drama etc) 0) All of my memories of events never started on time. 1) the place itself has bad acoustics design and lighting design. you cannot do anything. whatever speakers you change and add. 2) the seating level is slightly lower than stage level 3) the management staff is bad at organising events - they are after money. its easy to make them break safety rules. for any money making event, they will do any/all of the following: a) they will double the legally allowed occupancy breaking fire & safety rules. b) they will put chairs in exit area/doors c) they will leave 1 chair gap as aisle space between TWO sections of seating in that entire place. d) the seats go all the way to the back wall. On couple of occasions, there were no seats corresponding to the ones printed on the tickets. Now, that is really bad. e) if an event is getting sold out, they will add more chairs and sell more tickets. they will sell tickets even to make you stand in the hall and watch the show. Still knowing all these I usually end up there and curse myself to thinking that things would've changed. But I am always disappointed. On a few occasions, I was shocked to see people leave during the show as they couldnt take it anymore - the crowd, the lack of proper management etc. I write all this after witnessing many events, so that you are aware of the place before you expect some great event venue. read more

We went and checked out ICC after receiving the free 7 day flyer. We enjoyed our experience and decided to sign-up of an annual membership. The fee for my daughter and I is reasonable. The gym area is always clean and there are plenty of towels for your use. The machines are in good working order and I have never experienced a wait. There is no sense of urgency to hurry up and move because someone is stalking the machine you are using. There is no creepy gym vibe. It feels very family oriented. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Overall I am glad I found ICC. I would recommend it to anyone. read more

Love the gym and the classes they offer, summer camps were great too.

Awesome staff, awesome classes. I had my 2 kids attend the summer camp. I had my friends kids come here. Very organized drop off and pick up. The classes are organized in a very fun environment that kids enjoy and learn as well. We did try all kinds of classes from cooking, to bollywood dance, to hi hop to lego robotics, creative writing. Everything was just awesome. Very friendly staff for any questions that we had for accounts related to kids, food and all...Everything was just amazing. thanks ICC for a wonderful summer. read more
