The learning pods concept was new to our family but the staff did an excellent job caring for our child. I really appreciated that the staff took time to get to know my child, which was importatnt to me. The teachers were able to encourage my child to learn by incorporating games/playing in the learning process. The facility has great learning materials to help my child learn and stay engaged, i.e. sight words, math, reading books, etc. Lastly, being a new mom to a child who just entered grade school, Ms. Swati was very supportive and engaging on my journey. I'd recommend their service! We're looking forward to enrolling our child to their afternoon school program in the Fall.

This camp is not for kids over ten, as Steve and Kates has unfair opportunities for tweens and…read moreadolescents, and spend most of their attention fixated on younger kids, while brushing the older ones off to the side. They always provide many various choices of games and activities for the little kids, while barely any options are there for the older ones. For instance: Everything is always divided by age groups, therefore older kids get less opportunities to do the activities they want to pursue. The staff prefer younger children, and barely try to focus any of their attention on the older kids, which gives the preteens less of a chance to participate in any activities that should be included for kids of all ages. They also tend to let out younger kids first for kick-off and lunch, while leaving the older kids to stay in the gym, or stay hungry. For lunch release, they have a separate lunchtime for the younger campers, while having the older ones wait over thirty minutes to get their lunch. An example of this happened with my kid: a counselor ignored her requests for lunch, [despite them dropping things immediately if a younger camper was hungry] getting upset with her when she and other kids continued to ask politely for food out of hunger (she skipped breakfast and forgot to pack a lunch), they wouldn't let her into the main lunchroom to check her backpack for possible snacks because it was the younger kids' lunchtime. To add on: The staff give everyone the same, small amounts of food, even if some campers are hungry and need to be treated with equity, they do not do so, as they only allow small portions of food for older kids if they want seconds, while younger ones get bigger amounts. All because the older kids don't need it "as much as the younger kids do." Steve & Kate's is open long hours, which is perfect for us busy parents. They offer such a huge variety of activities, and they even provide lunch--so no more packing lunches every morning! This is the third year my boys, ages 6 and 8, have attended summer camp here. They absolutely love seeing some of the same camp counselors each year. Even though they've been to other camps together like art camp, several sports camps, and exclusive club camps, Steve & Kate's is the one camp they ask to go back to every year. We also really appreciate that they aren't separated by age. At other camps, even a small age difference would mean they couldn't be together, but here, they get to hang out and play together all day. My athletic son is obsessed with playing gaga ball--something he's only found at Steve & Kate's. He also loves playing basketball, table tennis, and foosball there. My other son, who's super into art, learned how to sew at camp. He made a bunch of cool stuff and loved it so much that we even pulled out our sewing machine at home to work on projects together. What's awesome is the free play aspect--my kids love that there isn't a set schedule, so they can do whatever they want. They also really enjoy going outside and playing. The staff is fantastic, always making sure the kids are having fun and are well taken care of. The director, Joshua, is so fabulous. It's obvious that he really enjoys his job and helps the kids have a fun and memorable summer. I've seen my kids grow in confidence and make so many friends. And we can't forget about the last day of camp--it's a HUGE carnival! My kids raved about it well into the school year. My youngest was so inspired by the different games and prizes that he ended up having a carnival-themed birthday party and made his own carnival games. Another great thing about Steve & Kate's is the flexibility. You don't need to book the camp months ahead of time--you can just sign up the night before and you're good to go. Plus, you don't need to commit to the entire week, which is perfect if you just want to send the kids for a couple of days during the week. I tell all parents about Steve & Kate's and how amazing it is. Also, if your company offers Bright Horizons, definitely take advantage of it--it's such a great combo with this camp. She's not particularly sporty but I think the games are designed so that they're approachable for everyone, regardless of experience. She also enjoys the crafts and game tournaments. This year she begged me to sign her up for an extra week at the end of summer and also begged to stay for extended care. I think a huge part of her love for Golden Eagle is due to the staff. They're so friendly and they seem to genuinely care about the kids, which is so lovely to see.

The camp was very comfortable with our son's nut allergies (held epi pen for emergencies) and I felt he was safe and well-supervised. Counselors and Jr Counselors greeted our son (and other campers) by name every morning with a warm welcome, and said goodbye by name daily as well. My son immediately felt comfortable and reported he had "a great time" every day of camp. The camp day is divided into 45-min periods with a range of fun activities (soccer, dance, recess games, basketball, arts & crafts or chess, etc). Our son loved all the choices! There are larger camp-wide events, popsicles in the afternoons, and theme days. I learned that many of the counselors and staff were once campers themselves. Several shared they had great memories from when they attended camp, and made lifelong friendships. I'm a child psychologist, and camp can be an amazing opportunity for young people to practice independence, build friendships, try new things, develop problem-solving and communication skills, and feel a part of a community. This comes from a safe environment, caring staff, clear structure and expectations, and lots of inclusivity, warmth, and fun. Returning campers and staff are a testament to this great camp. We're already planning on seeing you next year, Golden Eagle!

The location is also perfect for South Bay families. It's a short drive but it feels like the kids are staying deep in the mountains.

She, along with the other teachers there are all very caring and kind. Mrs. Emily is the head teacher at Vinci Park. She is very attentive and willing to speak to me via text or phone at any time when I had questions or concerns. The students learn to sing English and Chinese songs, they do various arts and crafts, and their activities are diverse and fun. My son enjoyed going to school every single day! I am very appreciative of Sunshine school and will alway have fond memories of my boys growing up at this school!

Last year he was at the Vinci Park campus where he is in the orange class. The staff at this campus are super loving, caring and friendly. My son was able to quickly adapt and love the teacher here, and he is especially fond of Ms. Huang and Ms. Emily. At one point he refused the idea of going to a school without Ms. Huang lol... One of the reason we picked this school was that I wanted my son to speak mandarin in early childhood. Most of the teachers here are native mandarin speaking, and this is a bi-lingual school. So if you are looking for mandarin immersion experience for your kids, this is a great choice! My son so far is a fluent mandarin speaker and he speaks some basic English too -- I am sure he will pick up that very fast later. My son learned letters, numbers, and some basic Chinese characters read and write by age 4. I am not academic focused and I am very happy with the progress. The school has plenty of outdoor time, and artwork time -- every day my son brings home a piece of work he made at school which is really nice. Last but not the least, the staff are super flexible and supportive of working parents. My drop off and pick up hours are based on my work meeting schedule, and they were always understanding and supportive. One time we went on international travel and after we got back, my son was jet lagged and super moody when I drop him off, Ms Emily gave us a few minutes to work it out, and told me if you need to go, we got it. If you like to spend more time to calm him down, feel free to do so. She checked with us multiple times to check my son was ok as well as I was ok with the delayed drop off. Super appreciated as a working parent!
