Ventress Memorial Library is such a wonderful small library…read more The main room has a fish tank and a stool for kids to be able to use to take a closer look. The children's room is small but plentiful - toy area, books, scavenger hunt, take home crafts, friendly librarians. In front of the children's room there are "take what you need" supplies for parents/kids - completely free. I'm looking forward to joining some of the adult programs like guided tours of Marshfield because I am new to town, but for now my experience has been visiting the children's room with my 2 children.

Great staff except recently when i return CD's They show up as missing or not received. To make…read moresure the most recent return CD was recorded, i asked for a receipt which I got. The next week I hear the CD is still outstanding....!! Now i have to look for the receipt. WHAT'S going on.? Not just this incident but other moments have me going to another LIBRARY.

I went and got the library director because it got so bad and she said to me "The library is noisy you should have brought headphones." Seriously! The library isn't noisy your workers are! And nobody expects silence but we expect it to be relatively quiet so we can hear ourselves think. Nobody was making any noise but the workers at the front desk being obnoxiously loud. Then she told me "This isnt a college library." Lady I am 30 years old but thanks for the compliment.

On 2/4/2025 Went to the Franklin Police to drop off some papers and was in the waiting area for a…read morewhile with no one to help after a while, finally 3-4 Officers came in and Officer Victoria McVicar came over and spoke to myself and my son. She had a very smug attitude towards us and when we said what if we don't want to do what she was saying was going to happen, she said Well no problem Ill get the Fire Department and we will take down your door and then you'll be replacing the door and looked at the officer beside her and chuckled. We turned away and she said hey did you just say something to me? I have called three time to file a complaint to her officer with no contact back. This is behavior unbecoming of an officer. There is No reason anyone should be spoken to by an officer that way for any reason. They wonder why people feel the way they do about the police, perfect case. And nothing done to her so she thinks it okay to talk to people that way. Im sure we are not the only one that had issues with her. Officer McVicar Badge # MV01

Within 2 minutes of calling 911 there were several police officers rushing into my home to the aid of my family. They are not only professional, highly trained, and quick to help every resident but meet the needs of every person in a kind and caring approach. I should also mention Franklin is one of the safety communities in Massachusetts, just Google it. What can you say but how Quincy has the Best Fire Department in Massachusetts in my opinion!…read moreToday this area Fire Department #3 on Washington Street in Quincy Point was represented at today's Ward 2 Fall Sundays - Presented by the Ward 2 Civic Association & Ward 2 City councilor RICHARD ASH! The Firefighters had one of their Fire Trucks for the number of area Residents to see first hand the fully equipped Fire Engine #3. They were allowed to climb on board the drivers seat, inspect all the open compartments used for firefights! Even many could wear the complete uniform that could weigh up to 80 pounds! This can show how our firefighters have to deal with heavy equipment and firefighting apparatus's to fight fires in the City of Quincy. I'm sure if need be they would assist our cities neighbors that border Quincy! These Firemen who came to be with our residents and talk and demonstrate what our First Responders truly put their lives on the line to protect us all! Many of the Firefighters made this day a learning experience for us all! The respect of these Firefighters deserves our heartfelt gratitude and we Thank Each One who attended today! I was very impressed of the brotherhood bond these firefighters had for eachother! The parents of children were so happy to see how the Firefighters related them! I learned and have a bigger respect from today's demonstration! Councilor Richard Ash along with Ward 2 Civic Association has my support and my admiration for constantly bringing residents together like events like this to educate and entertain us all! The Needham Public Works does an amazing job maintaining the roadways and signs throughout the town and deserves recognition. They have gone above and beyond on numerous occasions and consistently respond to the MANY requests that are sent in through the SeeClickFix website. I am impressed with the level of service provided by this department in comparison to many other nearby towns like Westwood who don't even bother to respond or fix anything!

Free internet, but it is kinda slow...still free.Not really used to it, since my house has fast internet. So much books, magazines, references, CDs, and DVDs. There are more items here than work space. I stayed at a table,and I could clearly hear the people in front of me, next to me, and behind me. Not much room from people who are close by. The librarians here are really nice though. I like them. One of the older ladies here have a cute little laugh,and I get all warm inside when she does. I picture her handing me some warm fresh baked cookies and a glass of milk while I'm working.

The library is part of the Old Colony Library Network, which isn't the greatest, but their interlibrary loan system works well and you can get the books you want without having to worry about shipping and handling. Why buy best sellers that you will only read once? Why buy travel guides for a trip you'll only take once? Instead, you can get them through the library. And you can place books on hold AND "order" books through interlibrary loan all online. Just have your library card handy! With limited funding and budgets slashed left and right, it's hard for local libraries to provide the full services like larger libraries can. However, the Rockland library not only provides public use computers for patrons, a children's reading room, work by local artists, a knitting club, a gardening club, and online research databases ... the staff is pleasant and always willing to help. The parking here can be a little troublesome (I like to get in touch with my hipster side and walk to the library from home with my sack-o-books over my shoulder), but there is ample parking alongside the side streets. Don't like that the library isn't opening on weekends? Write to your local councilman (or councilwoman) to voice your concerns. Start a petition and fight the power!
