I love the set up inside this restaurant, colorful, welcoming, and you can see them making the food fresh in the kitchen through the glass in the wall. As for food- best dumplings I've probably ever had. We got a spread of kurobuta pork and cuttlefish dumplings, colorful dumplings (a combo of different fillings), crispy beef rolls, the steamed beef and onion, general tso chicken, and the sesame balls. There was just the two of us so we had plenty to take home. Now the dumplings- the wrapper you can tell is fresh with a nice chew to it and the fillings have so much juicy flavor. The best flavor I think is the cuttlefish one. The crispy beef rolls we've had before and had to get again because they're perfection. Light, crunchy layers of dough with thin, flavorful pieces of beef, complimented to fresh green veggies inside. They come with a sweet sauce that just balances the salt and crunch and savory. Like I said perfect The general tso chicken had a really great flavor to it and the meat is moist, but what was lacking for me is I like it still have some crunch come through with the breading and that didn't happen. Delicious dish though but also didn't like you have to pay $2 to get rice added. Too flavorful of a dish not to come with rice by default IMHO... Service is great, food came out in a decent amount of time, and everything was delicious, so of course I'm coming back and I'm going to work my way through the menu. read more

We had edemame, pork and scallion dumplings and beef and onion dumplings. They were excellent!! Nice and hot and full of flavor. The edemame was surprisingly served chilled with garlic and a sweet sauce. It was also tasty. The staff was very friendly. Who we thought may have been the manager brought the pay device to our table. She asked about the food and the service. She was very friendly and polite. Thank you for a great meal. Great new option in Spring/Woodlands! The pork soup dumplings are very tasty and juicy and they are good value as well! Other items are more normal and I would say normal priced but overall great food. Fast service and a stylish quaint interior design give a wonderful experience for all guests. We went around 1:30p on Friday and it was still pretty busy so I'm wondering if it's really packed during lunch hours. But nevertheless that shows how much people like it! Came in for Sunday lunch as a family of four and was seated pretty quickly. Atmosphere: I don't usually comment on atmosphere/decoration/ambiance but they decorated this place in a way that was warm and inviting. It was brightly lit with some nice color here and there. Hot & Sour Soup ($2.50) Great bowl of hot and sour soup. It was only $2.50 so I figured I'd give it a try. Was a little bit smaller than I expected but was pleasantly surprised at the bamboo and wood ear mushrooms they put in it for extra texture and flavor. Would get again. Honey Walnut Shrimp ($19.00) I got this dish for my kids because they like shrimp, fried stuff, and sweet stuff. I was first surprised at how big the shrimp were and how many of the shrimp came. Few things to note are that the shrimp inside are actually not that big and it's mostly batter and the sauce is a bit spicy. As an adult, I enjoyed the extra kick but I did have to find something else to eat for my kids since the menu didn't actually specify that this was spicy. Green beans ($13.00) These green beans were not deep fried like what you'd expect to see so this was a nice change of pace. The beans were also not fibrous/old and had good flavor. Would get again. Beef noodle soup ($13.00) Loved the noodles in the soup. They stayed chewy for a long time in the soup. The soup itself was a tad too sweet and the meat was a bit too soft for me but that's just a personal preference instead of a ding. Much prefer the added sweetness and the softness of the meat than a one-dimensional flavor and under braised beef. Crispy beef roll 6 pcs ($11.00) Decent crispy beef roll. Nothing extraordinary but nothing disappointing about it either. Pork XLB 8 pcs ($12.00) This was, unfortunately, my least favorite dish. First, the price is quite high for XLB when compared to other Chinese restaurants so I expected these to be stellar. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the flavor inside (very simple flavor, could hardly taste the pork, and too sweet) and the wrapping was a bit too thick for my liking. Service was a bit spotty but it looked like it was because they were training new staff for the new location. Also FYI for those used to Chinese restaurants giving you a large amount/complimentary rice, they do charge $2 for a small bowl of extra rice and not all dishes come with rice. Going to give them the benefit of the doubt on a lot of things and give them a 4-star rating as well as try again once they are more settled. read more

Saw MiMis had moved here so we had to try it as I love the other woodlands location. I think this used to be a dumpling and noodles restaurant. Inside was nicely done and they weren't too busy on a Wednesday night. Staff was really nice despite my incident below, and they were playing their own video on the TV monitor showcasing their food. We got some of our favorites. I'll note the differences with the other MiMi's for comparison. First the Dan Dan noodles - what's going on here. There wasn't much meat to begin with but what little there was came in a small clump of meat. I posted a video of me piercing it and shaking it around on my chopstick. On the inside it was refrigerator cold. I showed the Chinese waitress and she insisted that's how it's supposed to be. I told her I don't remember it being like that at the other location because we've ordered it before there and I also showed her the picture of the meat in the menu which had the meat spread out nicely and not in a cold lump like this. We went back and forth about what Dan Dan noodles are supposed to be like because she seemed convinced that was the norm and I, having been on a mission to sample every Houston restaurant's dan dan mien a few years ago, and having also lived in Chengdu, just really found it hard to believe what she was saying. Eventually they agreed to remake the dish but all the while they maintained their position that this was in fact how it's supposed to be made and I was the crazy one that they had to go out of their way to make a special accommodation for. It kind of left a sour taste in our mouth because honestly it felt like one of those places that has made a mistake but then flips the situation around so you look like the unreasonable one. And it really also sucks when you as a customer are paying to be gaslit like this. So MiMi, I know you read these reviews. Why don't you tell us what you think? Is that really how you too think this dish is supposed to be made? And you know, your silence kinda means yes you agree with your staff. And if that's what you honestly believe, hey it's fine. I can't say I can ever personally recommend this dish then, as served here, to others in good conscience. But at least on the positive side I suppose I will have a good story to tell the next time I order Dan Dan mien somewhere, and I've also got a whole new benchmark for the dish! The crab rangoon was a little skimpy on the filling at this new location. The Taiwan popcorn chicken was a little overcooked and tough. But the star of the night was the pork xiaolong bao which was fantastic. Taro boba was ok as well. Food came out super quick which was impressive. Maybe it's because they didn't bother defrosting the meat. Haha. Ok it's funny but not at the same time. Anyhow, I'm glad they moved to my neck of the woodlands. The distance was making me more hesitant to visit. I hope they can get the kinks out at this new shop so we can return someday. read more

Stopped in for an early dinner. Quite the vibes. Seems upscale but family oriented. Has a view of the kitchen which is cool. Really clean and fresh environment. Service has been top tier. Ordered the General Tso chicken. 9.2/10 Chicken is dark meat so that's a huge plus for the Houston area. Light and crispy with full flavor. And pork and scallions dumplings. 9.0/10 Super flavorful and juicy. Super meaty. Soy sauce next level. They need to bottle this. Overall 9.2/10 Extremely good service. This location is not as "nice" as the Alden Bridge location. The strip center feels very sketch, and the age of the building shows, even thought this is a "new" location. It doesn't feel "fresh" like the Alden Bridge location. Having said that, the service is still very friendly and welcoming, and our meal was decent. The soup dumplings were delicious, but the tornado potatoes needed salt. The rangoons, and the har cau, though also average, hit the spot simply because it's hard to find them in The Woodlands area. We went the first time for lunch to Mimi Garden on Sawdust. The inside was hot without AC for a day with outside temperatures over 100F. They had some fans to keep the heat a bit down. We were sweating and I felt for a while dizzy. The plastic table clothes were plastic with stain on think from the last 20 clients eating before us. The stain can't be cleaned off. I am bringing the review of the original MiMi Garden and it includes this new location and follows: WOW, fresh handmade dumplings and they are so great. Watch them being made from the window and get ready for some outstanding flavors. Service is excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Went on an early evening on a Saturday and the place was almost full. They have opened a second location last week in the strip center on the west side of Borough Park Drive across from the HEB on Sawdust Rd. Went there this week and found it to be just as good as the original location in Alden Bridge. The menu is slightly different, but the dumplings still excellent flavors and wonderful service. Staff spot on and know their product very well. Both locations very very clean and bright. Take a look at their menu and start drooling for authentic dumplings as well as other Chinese delights. read more

My boyfriend and I went tonight and had a great time! We bad the Xiao Long Bao (highly recommend) and a couple others! The popcorn chicken is a bit dry and bland, but good when paired with its sauce. The rainbow dumplings are great to sample a bit of everything off the menu if you can't decide on one. The scallion pancakes are a great appetizer too!
