They did not like the fact I found the 10% off coupon on Yelp were quick to inform me that it was old and made sure I was aware they would be contacting Yelp to have it removed... I've been going to Mimi Nails & Spa in Valrico, FL for at least five years and Tom, one of the owners, was my "go to" guy for Gel Dip Nails and Acrylic Nails. He did an excellent job on my nails and I was a loyal and consistent customer, returning every 2-3 weeks for fills. I always make an appointment, because I run my own business, and my time is valuable. From time to time, Tom would run late, and I would have to wait for him. I had an appointment today at 3:30, and when I walked in, he was with another client, and he said it would be over an hour wait. His wife, Tami, then offered another tech to me, and said it would take 10 minutes for her to be done. After waiting for a half hour, I walked out. This wasn't the first time this had happened to an appointment of mine, and a few times over the years, Tom had even started a new customer, 10 minutes before my appointment time, knowing full well he wouldn't be done in time to do my nails, at my scheduled appointment time. I called Tami back and told her that this wasn't any way to treat a loyal customer. She knows this, (we've had this conversation in the past), but apparently Tom, doesn't "want" appointments anymore. She said I could just come in whenever, and "wait" for Tom, and whenever he was free, I could then get my nails done by him. Umm....No....that's not the way it works. While I have supported this business for years, and they are honest people, and do great work, they are simply awful at customer service. Apparently, Tom is more concerned about taking care of walk-in customers, (who never return and usually never tip), then taking care of his steady, loyal, customers. Too bad, because I refuse to be treated this way by a business that I have supported for years, by my patronage. This Nail Salon recently lost one of their longtime Nail Techs, who now runs her own business, and she also takes appointments! I would suggest trying out Hannah, at Sunrise Nails in Brandon, because I'm sure she won't be "too busy" to take care of loyal, repeat customers. read more

I had my nails done with Baby Tammy and she did a great job, very knowledgeable and good conversation. The other people I had were pretty bad at their jobs. Rough on my sensitive nails, even did a treatment that hurt me (man in front station did while speaking another language the entire time with no remorse). Turns out they'd been lying to me about the treatment on my nails and deliberately using acrylic which I'd SPECIFICALLY told them not to do because it didn't do go for my nail and killed its growth. The last guy told me the truth that they hadn't had what I'd wanted and they'd been using acrylic. It made sense since it had given me nail fungus, another reason I'd asked them not to use acrylic! I wouldn't recommend this place if you care about the quality of your nails! It is clean but I can't speak for anyone else besides Baby Tammys abilities! read more

I really enjoy my experience with the spa. The owner of the nail spa helped me do my nails, he did a incredible job, very detail and very careful! I messed up my nail polish by accident and he is willing to fix them for me for free. That is always a bonus! Also they have kid's pedicure chairs that I like, means you could come in with your daughter and get pamper together! The regular pedicure chair has a massage feature, it really help you relax and enjoy pedicure at the same time! I've been to Mimi's a few times now & it's safe to say this is my regular nail salon. I've never had to wait very long for a pedicure or for a manicure but they do get pretty busy so it's best to make an appointment. The salon is very clean and the staff is professional. They sterilize all their tools and for pedicures each customer gets their own, and I've seen them cleaning the pedicure tubs after each customer. read more

They are very welcoming when you come in. It's very clean. Pedi's are great. I have even taken both of my daughters, ages 5 and 11, and they are always very sweet to the girls and do sweet designs on their toes. They have cute pedi chairs for kids, too. I do acrylic nails with gel on top and usually request Tom. He is the best. But all of the technicians are great. Highly recommend this nail salon. read more

They didn't cure my gel nails properly - one nail - and said return the next day they'd fix. When I got there I was told I had to wait in queue. I'd made an 11a appointment. I used to go every 3-4 weeks and pay for a gel manicure and deluxe pedicure... plus tip. They charge extra now to remove gel even if they put it on. I've been a customer for years now and 4 separate times I have seen an irate customer. 1. Double charge. They said nothing they could do. Not even apologize. 2. Cuts all over fingers from emory board. Nothing they could do. Not even apologize. 3. Over charge by adding zero. Nothing they could do. Contact bank. No apology. 4. Nails peeling from gel manicure three days ago. No apology and told they'd have to pay to have it removed and re-added. No apology. I never thought it'd be me since I've been going there since we moved to Valrico. I'm guessing I'll never get them to make it right. Or an apology. I love this place and wish I still lived in Brandon so I could come here on a regular basis. After moving to Tampa I realized how great Mimi's is, when you get a pedicure they clean the tub while the towel is on your legs! In Tampa I really miss finding a place that actually cleans! The pedicure was great when the finally got to me. The manicure however was awful. The lady told me I was nasty for not wanting to cut my nails because they were "too long" then ended up filling my nails all the way down so either way I no longer have long nails. She then cut me 2 times making me bleed and & left some parts of my nails unpainted. Very disappointed and not going back read more

PLEASE READ: I will never go to this place again. This is my second time here and had the worst experience. The girl doing my nails was very distracted by the door and people talking and should have been paying attention to what she was doing. She actually took a phone call while working. I had to point out her mistakes and she actually thought it looked good. Horrible! I called to ask how much full set was and was told $22. I walk in and get handed a basket full of nail color displays. I pick a color that I like. I go to check out and am told the total is $40. Apparently all the gel colors and regular nail polish colors are mixed in the basket. They charge $15 if you happen to pick a "gel" color without your knowledge. I ended up paying $40 for a full set a plain "gel" color nail polish. Total rip off!! read more

Every time I go there seems to be a major problem. The first time I went they passed me to THREE different nail techs as people came in the door, which resulted in a 2.5 hour trip just to get a crooked fill. The second time I went Yashira was very nice and accommodating and did my nails amazingly, the only thing was that they said I could not get a pedicure because it was "too late" (it was 6:15 and they close at 7) even though I asked for the service when I checked in. Those were all minor inconveniences compared to how rudely I was treated today. I was charged $92 twice for just a fill and a pedicure. They charge an extra $15 for gel pedicures and I had a $12 charge that they couldn't explain. I went to pay and the older man running the register typed in my total and then when I went to put my card in he grabbed it from me and put it in the machine. He pulled it out while it was processing and asked me to add a tip, to which I said no that I was tipping cash. Then the man proceeds to turn to my nail tech and say "no tip. She bad. No tip." Still holding my card he goes to put it in the machine again. I stopped him and said he already charged me. He said that he didn't AND JUST PUTS IT BACK IN. I had to grab my card out and he started yelling that I wasn't paying. I pulled up my account and showed him I had been charged $92. He then pulled up some screen on his register and said that my name wasn't there so it didn't go through. I told him that it did, here is my account with the date and the total and I definitely hadn't been here twice today. He then threatens to call the cops on me for not paying. I was shaking, and I was so embarrassed from him screaming I just paid the $92 again with cash. I had a $200 fill and pedicure today that resulted in a panic attack and me being yelled at. Based on other reviews it seems that they overcharge and double charge quite often. I will absolutely never go back here. read more

I had a pedicure and manicure with shellac. The man who did my pedicure cut me twice. The first time I jumped when he cut me, and he yelled "STAY STILL!" I started to see blood and he kept working in the area where my cut was and hurt it more and when I jumped again he again said "stay still!!!". He moves to the next foot and cut me again and again he yelled "stay STILL!" So that's when I asked to speak with a manager. She came out and says that the reason I was cut was because I was already moving... I get pedicures all the time and this has never happened to me. And how is a manager going to speak that disrespectfully like I made the whole situation up just from the jump of our conversation?! So I told her no that he cut me twice and one was a deep cut that I was bleeding from and that he handled it horribly, and she asked where the blood was even at. Get this- when he got up to get the manager he flipped the towel around that had the blood on it!! So I showed her the blood by flipping the towel and then she got me a new person to continue my pedicure and manicure. Then she came back around to say "he says that was actually nail polish, not blood." MY NAIL POLISH ON MY TOES WAS BLUE!! Anyway, the woman who continued my manicure did fine but my shellac came off within three days. Shellac is supposed to last weeks. DONT COME HERE!!! read more

I've been going to Mimi's since 2012 and overall they do a fantastic job...they have a lot of skilled staff, especially Tom or Tammy. They try to stay up with the latest nail techniques and their equipment is reasonably upgraded/clean. There are a few nail techs who aren't so great there but if you aren't happy with the end result, they will fix it. They get super busy on the weekends but if you come during the week, you will have a relaxing and pleasant experience. read more

Just had a great experience here with my daughter! We had pedicures with Hannah and Tammy. Both ladies were friendly and did wonderful leg and foot massages (just the right amount of pressure!). They were efficient but did not rush, and did a very professional job with the polish. My daughter even got a design on her big toes and it looks beautiful. Considering the fact that this place only has three reviews, that should say something. I would put no stars if I had a choice. I did not like this place at all. It was really dirty, the chairs were full of dirt and dust, which then means that they don't have many customers. The lady was rushing to finish up the job. I asked her their closing time and she replied 7:30, I got there at 6:50 so I was confused as to why she was rushing. She didn't allow my nails to fully dry before sending me on my way and needless to say, I had to take the polish off once I got home bc it didn't last and I am really carefull with my polish. I should have known better but I will admit that I can be naive at times. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I am a bit sorry for this review but the truth needs to come out. read more

This is by far the worse experience I have ever had here. This small lady Tam did my nails and pedicure and she used to do an amazing job, but now she rushes. She finished my pedicure within 15 MINUTES and didn't even massage. The paint job was horrible. After my pedicure, she started on my nails and I was not happy at all. She kept looking up when customers walked in the door and started to rush through my manicure! After my gel, she rushed to do the next customer and told another employee to have me pay. She is so unprofessional and I don't recommend Tam to anyone. Everyone else does a good job but I will never go to Tam again and this is the last time I'm coming here. read more

This place has pissed me off for the last time. I've been coming here for 6 years and I've had it with Mimi's salon. For starters, I have never once seen them use clean instruments. Everything is used. I have requested new instruments (nail file, sanitized nail clippers, ect) and they just won't do it. If you make an appointment with them, they won't keep track of it so you will end up waiting. Whatever wait time they tell you, you can go ahead and multiply it by 10. (They just don't want you to leave) On many occasions they have just straight up lied to me. Today I told them that I was running on a tight schedule and that I would prefer to have my fingers done first, because that was my priority, and my toes done last if I even had time. I told them I could come back tomorrow if it was not possible. They told me if I sat down for a pedicure they would be able to do my nails at the same time. No one ever came to do my nails. I asked several times and was basically ignored. I left with only my toes done and never got an apology when I complained. I have been a very loyal customer who generously tips (and even makes the drive from Tampa to the salon since moving out of Brandon) and I will never return to Mimi's. read more
