Great meal at this fun, energetic spot along a fun people watching strip. I went for a limoncello spritz and some carbonara. Everything was delicious and the service was good. I can easily recommend this spot for a great casual lunch or dinner.
Authentic Rome on a plate worth the wait every single time! This is hands down one of my wife's and my favorite restaurants in Rome. We first discovered Mimi e Coco years ago with friends, and on our most recent trip this fall, we made a point to visit twice. They now have two locations, and while the quality is incredible at both, we personally prefer the original Via del Governo Vecchio location. It was the first one we ever visited, and it just feels the most intimate and special to us. If you are coming from the States, forget what you think you know about Italian food. This isn't the heavy, over-sauced stuff we get back home. This is authentic Roman cuisine: simple, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The Must-Haves: The Food: You cannot go wrong here, but the Carbonara and the Lasagna are our absolute favorites. They are rich and flavorful without being heavy. The Drinks: Their spritz game is strong. Definitely try the Limoncello Spritz it is the perfect refresher after a day of walking. The Vibe & Logistics: Despite how popular Rome is, this feels like a true local spot rather than a tourist trap. The service is consistently phenomenal warm, welcoming, and fast. However, keep in mind that these are small spots (especially the Governo Vecchio one). I highly suggest making a reservation. If you walk in during rush hour, be prepared for a 30-minute wait (or more), but trust me it is very well worth it. If you want a real taste of Rome, put this at the top of your list!
HANDS DOWN THE BEST TIRAMISU I WILL EVER HAVE IN THIS LIFETIME. This place was so good we came back for seconds on our last night. The carbonara was delicious- my boyfriend enjoyed! I also ordered bruschetta and the meatballs my first time and these were my fave meatballs on the trip. They have two locations- we went to the Trastevere one. The line moves quickly--especially if you have a small party. This is a must stop when you come to Rome!
We went for lunch!! I got the salad because I wanted something other than pasta and was saving room for dinner. It was okay nothing special! I wish it came with chicken. We all shared the pizzas. The cacio e Pepe was our favorite. My sister got the ravioli and it was really good. My other sister got the spaghetti it was okay. We sat outside which I liked. The service could have been better.
It is in a perfect location for dinner on Via de Governo Vecchio since the place is lively with many stores, bars and restaurants. The food is delectable. I had heard it was the best lasagne in Italy but I was still amazed. Pricing is so reasonable for immense treat! The service was also amazing. Our server, Jackie, was on her second day working there. We would not have known if Gracie the front house manager hadn't mentioned it. They were both great and made us feel like we were home. Can't forget to give a shoutout to Daniel, the bartender. I still think of the lasagne!
I thought it a touch overrated especially after waiting for 45-50 minutes for a single diner. I do appreciate that everything was hot -- piping hot. I tried the eggplant parm and it was good, just needed a tad more flavor. Unfortunately my focaccia was very hard/crunchy probably the crispiest focaccia I've ever eaten. That wasn't to my liking. Small and snug inside but cute photos of the history of the establishment. Service was pleasant. This restaurant was recommended and I'd try their other location or something else on the menu, but I wouldn't go out of the way to return. I did walk 30 minutes to get to it so by the time I was seated, I would've been impressed by anything as I was very hungry. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
It may look like just another osteria ristorante but what separates them from other places nearby is the service. Staff is very attentive and they will try to accommodate your request even if it's something unusual. Food was amazing and you have to try the warm focaccia bread! My wife and I had to come back a second time just before we left Roma.
My husband's experience was a 5, mine was a 3, so I averaged them out (which is also fair given the cool ambiance of the restaurant). It's a little tourist-trap-y, but the service was outstanding and we liked the menu choices. My husband got the bucatini and loved it, whereas my carbonara wasn't great. Overall, though, a decent spot- albeit not one I'd feel obliged to return to.

The restaurant is quite small with barely any room to walk around, but they were very accommodating to us with our stroller. The staff found us a corner spot where we could park it without blocking other diners. The kids love their pizza - the thin crust was a hit! The food was worth the wait - authentic Italian flavors that weren't touristy at all. I had the pasta carbonara which was perfectly creamy without being heavy. We did splurge a little and ended up ordering more food than we can eat. Prices were reasonable considering the quality and location. I can see why the lines get long. Definitely recommend!

Excellent first meal in Rome! The quintessential dishes ranging from spaghetti alla carbonara and tonnarelli cacio e pepe were decadent but not too salty and were cooked perfectly a la dente. The mum's meatballs with roasted potatoes were not bad; the potatoes specifically had a great texture/flavor (it just goes to show you how a little bit of nice olive oil and rosemary can go a long way!). As for the restaurant, it definitely felt like a tourist trap catered to English speakers with upbeat pop music like Abba playing in the background and the prices seemed a tad high but the food and overall aesthetics made up for it! Not going to lie though but the staircase to the bathroom was a little narrow/dark and the bathroom was definitely a squeeze. Overall, I enjoyed visiting this cute, casual bistro with a relaxed atmosphere and squibbling notes on their quirky walls!
I really enjoyed my experience at this location. We sat outside on the patio and it was very relaxing. I got a hugo spritz and it was delicious. Our table got a pizza and a pasta. Both were really amazing and came out pretty fast even though we were there for lunch. As americans, we tried to speak some italian and the servers were nice and helpful with the translations.
We chose Mimi e Coco for our last meal in Rome, and it was an excellent way to end the trip. I had a glass of Prosecco along with the ricotta ravioli in tomato sauce, while my brother ordered the carbonara. Both dishes were outstanding and full of flavor. The restaurant was packed, creating a lively atmosphere, and the service was friendly and efficient despite how busy it was. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Rome. read more

We were staying near Mimi e Coco on our recent trip to Rome and heard great things so we secured a dinner reservation. It was great! They have a pretty impressive menu with lots of options. Their pastas are really good! The service was great and the decor was very cute. There seemed to be a line here every night, so make a reservation if you can! It felt a hair on the touristy side compared to other places we visited on our trip, but it was still worth the stop. Definitely check it out! read more

We loved it. No better way to start our first meal in Rome but at Mimi e Coco. We ordered the bruschetta appetizer, carbonara, and lasagna. I realized how badly I was missing out on fresh authentic Italian pasta when I had my first bite here--it was amazing. The pasta and lasagna were cooked perfectly and the lasagna was probably some of the best I've had. The bruschetta was mid, but we came for the pasta. The place is very small and intimate. We were seated close to the people next to us. So much so, they confused our order with theirs. We got their drink orders and their focaccia appetizer. For the record, we thought that the focaccia was a pre meal bread basket and their drinks were similar to ours. It wasn't until our neighbors made a comment that we got the same order as them that we realized we were getting their order. We notified the staff and all was fixed. They didn't charge us for their mistake, which was appreciated. Overall, I'd say, come and get some amazing pasta. Be prepared to wait in line outside if it's busy bc they do not take reservations. And be ready to make friends with your table neighbors as you will be sitting extremely close to them. read more

Food was flavorful and fresh. Wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We ordered the carbonara and split it (they split it for us which was very nice). This carbonara ranks on my top 1 or 2 of the best I've had (would need to have side by side comparison with my top rated one in Boston). My sister and her daughter ordered and split a focaccia salmon pizza and ravioli. They mentioned it was delicious. Prices for their food items were very inexpensive compared to the many places nearby and other venues we looked to visit. They do have a line bc the restaurant itself is super small. The toilet is down some steep stairs so not accessible for some and only one stall to share with all genders. I'd definitely come back to this place and want to try the lasagna since it seems most reviews state this item is their best. read more
Pros: nice area by piazza navona Cons: pricier than most in Roma. Very touristy and price wise, higher than most in Roma, we ordered wine, meat platter(ala charcuterie board) and aperol spritz... service was also not on par.. didn't get the wine for a long time... we had to ask after my drink came and the charcuterie board came. Back to pricing: To give perspective, most restaurants charges €6-8 for aperol spritz, this one charged €9.5. We ordered a charcuterie board during what we heard from others as appertivo (happy hour) yet was not able to locate any restaurant in Navona area (by Piazza Navona) that had this including this one. As for meat platter, lemon slices were wilted, there was a fuzzy lint on one of the orange pieces... that high middle pile in the meat platter is from a pile of lettuce stuffed under the meat.. meat wise, very good... just not keen on linted orange slice and wilted lemon slices as u can see in the picture... i would avoid this place... read more

This was the standout during our visit in Rome. They don't take reservations and the restaurant is small. There's a line that queue up outside of the restaurant. We waited around an hour. While waiting, one of the staff gave us a piece of focaccia bread to munch on. Food was really good. I got the carbonara and the bacon pieces were melt in your mouth good! Carbonara wasn't heavy like it is in the US. They also gave us complimentary limoncellos at the end of our meal. read more
Mimi e Coco was my first dinner in Rome, and it didn't disappoint! We arrived right around 8pm and fortunately, there was a fairly short line for a table. We waited 10-15 minutes before being seated. We started with a shared order of focaccia. It was delicious! While a little messy to eat because of the seasonings on the bread, it was the perfect starter to my carb load. Next, I ordered a classic when in Rome - carbonara. Mimi e Coco delivered! It was flavorful, fresh, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. Service was excellent and the meal was very affordable. I'd highly recommend to anyone visiting the city, but plan to wait for a table! They do not take reservations and when we left, there was quite a long line for a table. read more

I don't want to speak badly about the place because this was my first restaurant in Italy and I had no bad experiences throughout the whole trip. I had researched the place in advance- great reviews and the fact it was packed and lots of people were waiting to get in made it seem like it was promising so we waited. I got some red wine (delicious) and my first and only dish was the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, it was good but the sauce was too heavy. It felt greasy and just not what I expected at all. At the end of my evening the food was just not sitting well me at all- maybe stick to red/light sauces? The service was good, the waiter was fast and though we had to wait a little it wasn't too bad. read more

Best place ever! I come here all the time with my friends for aperitivo. All the spritz' are amazing but my faves are the mimi e coco and the hugo spritz. I came here for dinner today and wow it was mind blowing! I've been in Rome for 3 months and it's the best cacio e pepe i've had yet! Also the ricotta and spinach ravioli is amazing, i've had it twice now. It's perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Lionello was our waiter and he was so nice and made us feel so welcome! He even brought us limoncello shots and biscotti cookies at the end for free :) Highly recommend!! This location is very cute and small, there's also a trastevere location that is bigger and has all the same things if there's a long line for this one. Don't miss out on coming here!!! read more

Our meal was out of this world!! We are visiting from the United States and I can't begin to say how incredible our meal was! This restaurant was recommended by a friend and it was more than we could ever of imagined!! If you are coming to Rome this restaurant is a MUST!! read more

Very glad had a meal at Mimi & Coco again! I thought 7pm would be crazy busy, but most Romans were still enjoying happy hour. I got a table inside. The interior is covered in mementos, mirror and scratched notes from patrons. I ordered a house Moscato d'Asti glass of wine. It was perfect. Sweet and slightly chilled. Since I had past for lunch, I ordered a salad for dinner. They have wonderful combination salads. The Giulia Salad which I ordered had lettuce, cherry tomato halves, corn, avocado, olives, radicchio and tuna. With some olive oil, salt & pepper and balsamic vinegar, it was perfect! The couple who ended up sitting next to me were lovely American siblings. We had a nice conversation about Roman, Italy and Europe in general. I don't know but I would definitely recommend Mimi & Coco. While wine is their specialty, the food is delicious and the servers are SUPER nice. I had the best time! read more

Recommended to come here by a friend and did not disappoint! It's on an cute side street in the center of Rome - gives you that authentic Italian vibe. We had to wait in a quick line but less than 5 min. We started with the meatball appetizer and they were some of the best I've had in my life. So tasty and tender! I had the bolognese lasagna and it was more of a vodka meat sauce but I loved it. It wasn't nearly as heavy as American food. My boyfriend had the carbonara and the pasta was perfectly cooked. Sauce was creamy and decadent but not too rich. Overall just such a great authentic Italian spot we loved and will be going back to! read more
If you're in Rome, you MUST come here!! This is life changing lasagna, best lasagne we have had in our lives, I know I will never have lasagna as good as this. I honestly don't understand what they do that makes this so incredible, but it's fantastic!!!! Everything here is delicious, the service is also so great, I promise you won't regret coming here and you will go here every time you're in Rome! Currently dreaming about the lasagna :) read more
