The charming bakery is located on the main strip downtown, and is loaded with character! There was a couple playing chess on one of the bistro tables out front, and two elderly gentlemen having a lively conversation about local politics. This is just my scene! We ordered a marionberry danish and a sugar cookie, both of which were fresh, delicious and well-priced. The staff were super friendly and offered us a sample of freshly-baked dog treats for our pug Penelope, who we had in tow. Ask the bakers about their recent visit from Abraham Lincoln, it will make for a fun story and laugh. I hope you decide to visit this gem of a bakery, and tell your friends about it too!

This is my go-to when I need lunch for a staff meeting, baked goods for a special event, and/or just a yummy snack. Here's what we've had AND highly recommend: Chocolate cupcakes Lemon cupcakes ANY deli sandwich on their made-fresh-daily focaccia bread. (you're welcome) Scones (All flavors, but my favorites are the hazelnut chocolate chip & the maple & the lemon flavors) Hubby loves all the danishes (esp. the berry ones) This place is a little gem in town that shouldn't be missed. Enjoy!

We were heading to visit family in the area for dinner and were asked to bring dessert. While…read moredriving through Stayton, my wife remembered The Lovin Oven from years ago. We also recalled that there was some connection to Gerry Frank's Konditorei in Salem, which immediately caught our interest. After doing a little research, we discovered there's a deep and fascinating history linking the two businesses. The Lovin Oven began in 1983, when founder Doreen Helmemn operated the bakery out of her home. In 1993, the business expanded into a small storefront in downtown Stayton after being purchased by Mike and Valerie Schultz. Mike, who was formerly a logger, was personally taught cake decorating by the original founder, an origin story that adds to the bakery's charm and authenticity. One of the most interesting details we learned is that The Lovin Oven is the primary baker for Gerry Frank's Konditorei in Salem, a partnership that dates back to the 1980s. That relationship grew even stronger in 2017, when the Schultzes became co-owners of the Konditorei. Many people enjoying desserts at high-end restaurants throughout the region may not realize that their cakes were baked in Stayton. The Lovin Oven is especially well known for its Champagne Raspberry cake, Marionberry cheesecake, and an impressive variety of gourmet bars and cookies. Their menu also includes cakes, cheesecakes, cinnamon rolls, brownies, cupcakes, and more, something for just about every dessert preference. The bakery itself is housed in an industrial-style building that includes the production bakery, a storefront, and a small seating area where you can enjoy your treats on site. The outside is a unique with a black painted brick exterior. The customer facing area of the inside is industrial. We picked up a selection of cupcakes to take to dinner and were quickly back on the road. The cupcakes were a hit, everyone loved them, and they disappeared fast. It felt great to share something local with such a rich backstory. Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and we're glad we stopped. If you find yourself passing through Stayton or looking for high-quality desserts in the Willamette Valley, The Lovin Oven is absolutely worth checking out.

I didn't know her or would even recognize her, again... until yesterday. I had in my groceries on the counter a jar of the Decaf version. Alyssa, the checker made a comment about appreciating that they had it in stock now. I said that yes, it had taken awhile, but I was so pleased to find it again, locally. Alyssa mentioned that it was she who sent in a written request on my behalf. I thanked her profusely then left. Before I turned around and got to the door, I returned and asked her if there were little forms that a customer could complete complimenting an employee. She looked and said that they were out of them. Since I try to make it a habit of catching and acknowledging people when they're "good", I asked if there was another way and she mentioned this website. So let it be known ~~~ far and wide ~~~ I believe most of us aim to please and are doing the best we can with all of the health risk issues, angry people, and whining... (and I can spin that direction, too) it is so important to look for the positives and to accentuate them! Thank you Alyssa and Thank you Monmouth Roth's!
