For our group, we had a fun time and nothing was missing. Each area is ample and though the next spot is close, it's not that close. My tent was about 30 feet next to the adjacent camp. -Pollen: The first thing you might notice is the yellow pollen everywhere. It's all over the place. Be sure to keep your food covered. - Fire pit/BBQ grill: Each area has a fire pit surrounded with rocks and and old school bbq grill. The grill was dirty but you can get a grill topper at the nearby supermarket so your food doesn't touch their grill. You need to get firewood and you can but it from them. It's a better price than the Von's nearby and they deliver it. We got 3 bundles for the weekend. - Bathroom/Showers - They have a few bathroom and showers throughout the site. Be sure to bring sandals or slipper for the shower. - Bear safe container - Each area has a bear safe container. If I recall it's about 3.5' wide, 3.5 feet deep and 3.5'~4' tall. Enough to house 2 coolers. Here's my tips if you're staying here. - Keep your cars close by. Our group had 3 cars and their was adequate space. Be sure to keep your food in your cars if it doesn't fit in the bear safe container. - Keep your valuables safe. Keep them out of sight in your cars. - Taking out the trash might be a bit of a trek. Also, if the dumpster is full, you might have trash fall on you so I prefer the top loading dumpters. -Smores. Most people will want smores so when you go the supermarket, don't buy too much chocolate. We got a 6 pack of Hersey bars but it was way too much. It's better to buy a big bar or buy a few singles. We're home now and left with a big bag of marshmallows, graham crackers, and 4+ bars of chocolate.

I asked for a manager hoping for some grace on this because I felt like they still had over a week to fill the spot and if they kept 100% of my fee and also booked it out they would be making double profit. I understand the policy but as a business owner myself I also make exceptions to policy and try to work out issues to keep customers happy. That is not their approach. The person I was working with tried to get me to a manager so I could discuss it but whichever manager she talked to would not even take my call. As a consumer, even if the answer is going to be no I think it's extremely rude for them to straight up refuse to talk to me. I almost never post bad reviews, and I think the poor woman at the call center was put in a bad spot by her manager, who apparently told her to just blow me off and they could not be bothered to talk to a customer. It's a lovely spot but I can't recommend a place with this poor customer service.

So plan day trips way in advance. - Some walk-in sites are poorly identified and are located far from the parking lot and bathrooms. - This is a fishing lake, not a swimming lake. - Mosquitoes. - No on-site showers.

Rock Creek Lake Campground is one of the prettiest and cleanest campgrounds I've been to in a long…read moretime. This campground is right on the beautiful Rock Creek lake near Mammoth, CA. Sites are on a first-come-first-serve basis and there are friendly on-site managers. I want to focus my review on the "Walk-to" tent sites since there wasn't much information about them on the website and it may help others plan their visit better. "Walk-to" sites are tent sites you have to walk to. You will not be parking your car near your camping area. These sites are a little distance away. At this campground the "walk-to" sites are #21-26. The walk isn't too bad, it was about 150-200 adult steps from the car spaces to these sites (yes, I counted!) The walk is a dirt trail on pretty much level ground, which takes you over a lovely bridge that crosses over the creek (photo op spot!) then you walk through an aspen covered trail to your site. These 6 partially to fully shaded sites are all on the edge of a large creek which streams out into the lake. It is wonderful to listen to at night! These sites are pretty secluded from the main campground. THese sites are very private, but If you want more privacy try site #21, it is the last site on the trail. SIte #22 seems to have the largest area of space. Sites #25/26 are closest to the parking area, but they don't have too much privacy from the trail walkers. Women love to know the details on campground restrooms...so this info is for you gals: yes, the restrooms are a bit far from these 'walk-to' sites, so I would suggest investing in a camping potty and a shower tent. Both are not expensive at all and are super fast to set up. A camping potty is basically a home depot bucket (w/ a trash bag, of course) & a snap-on toilet lid. Throw it in your shower tent and voila! no more worries, especially if you are camping with little ones :) If you don't want to do the camping potty thing, then try and get site # 25/26 because they are closest to the restrooms. Also, don't forget to borrow the courtesy wheelbarrows to help you cart your camping gear from your car to your site. You can also purchase wood bundles from the managers. ($15 for 3 bundles). IMPORTANT TO KNOW: this campground is quiet. THere are lots of fishermen in and around the lake and they prefer quiet surroundings. There are lots of shady trees, lots of picnic tables along the beachy area, and a mini store right outside the campground in case you need toiletries or want souveniers. CAUTION: the altitude is high, about 10,000ft, so give yourself time to adjust (altitude headaches are no joke!) MUST SEE: Take the easy hike up to the Valley Lakes area for some heavenly sites that will take your breath away! Have fun!

You could go at your own pace and Jorge could bring you on easier or harder trails. Which ever way he took us was perfect! There were bumps and rocks and curves all the way through the mountains and Inyo Forest and the views from the where we stopped were amazing. I'd highly recommend going in the early morning too because you get to see the beautiful sun rise! Jorge also took pictures of us throughout!! I honestly didn't think they'd be as good as they are since it was so bumpy and dusty, but they turned out SO GOOD. Know it'll be very dusty. Wear long sleeves, pants and boots and you'll be good

Russ, who is the owner, was extremely helpful in getting us acquainted and comfortable driving a ATV for the first time. He mapped out tours and gave us a few pointers we would need. The ride was hysterical - we laugh so much trying to maneuver the roads. The scenery is the best and you can get close up to the flowers, the mountains, and even go up to the top of a mountain. If you try it, opt for the three hour ride and go to the top of Bald Mountain. If you are in Mammoth call Russ and enjoy your day while taking in nature up close.
