Bruce waiting for lunch at Mina's.

My dad, Bruce, was a resident at Mina's Elderly Care in Campbell for about four months. Our family was so impressed with the care he received there. Mina and Michael are wonderful and their staff, Ernie and Cora, became a part of our family. We never could have managed without their compassion, expertise and attention. Dad had early stage dementia and a variety of health issues. He had several strokes, a nasty skin condition, congestive heart failure and cancer. Once he moved to Mina's his health improved exponentially. He loved the people and he enjoyed the fabulous food. We knew this would be "end of life" care for him so the expectations were low. We did not know if he would survive for weeks, let alone the four excellent months he lived and thrived in their care. We cannot thank you enough for making his last months the absolute BEST they could be. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

    Mina and her amazing staff!

I came to stay here after I had a total knee replacement surgery. I was in a lot of pain. The staff was very kind despite the fact that there were oftentimes overworked because the ratio of staff to patients probably not quite to par. I got PT and OT almost every day, which was great. I was very grateful that they catered to my dietary needs. They even checked up on me after I'd gone home. My only issues I had, had to do with the medication I was on. When I first got there by transport I was due for my pain medication and they didn't have any of my prescribed medication. They told me they would be able to get me some within a half hour of my arrival. That didn't happen. I had to wait hours and I was in agony. Also, one time they ran out of it so they gave me another pain medicine which was stronger. I had to take this three times because the prescribed medicine still never came in. Also, it's great that they offer to wash your clothes (as long as they're labeled). The problem is, you don't always get them back. Their system could use some improvement. I asked about my clothing several times, but they didn't do anything about it, likely because the people I asked were way too busy. On the day I was leaving, my son and I had to go to the laundry room and look for them ourselves. They were spread out all over the place in the lost and found container. I'm not sure if I got everything. If I hadn't been in such pain when they gave me the inventory list when I first arrived I probably could have made a list of what I had come in with. It was in with the packet they gave me and was not explained to me then or later that I recall. Important...write a list of everything you bring. There's no way that one of the aids would have been able to find all my stuff that my son and I found scattered on that last day. Yes, they have room for improvement. No one's perfect. Overall, my experience was great so I'm still giving them five stars.

I was able to accomplish that in a brief time due to the excellenr program they established and carried out. EVERYONE was professional, caring and pleasant. In addtion to the care is both the interior and exterior ambience which attractive and inviting. The cleanliness is found everwhere, inside and out. The rehab section meals were always tasty with an excellent selection to chose from. I hope the future would offer me a chouce to return to the Terraces if rehab was agsin necessary.

The activity leaders are so kind and really try to keep the residents busy with chair yoga, music, karaoke, word games, BINGO... The staff is phenomenal, and there are folks like Walter, Juan, Wilma, Christine, and more that give joy and care to each resident. I love that they assign PALs (care givers) to groups of residents, and most will pitch in and help whether or not they are assigned to a particular resident. Poojan (MC Director) and Radhika (Sr. ED) can often be found with residents. You can feel so much love here. Don't think twice about checking this facility out for your aging relatives. Among the biggest perks is they cook food in the kitchen. My grandma's appetite mainly revolved around homemade soups, eggs and oatmeal, smoothies, watermelon, and vegetables with meat (which had to be blended up because she refused to eat otherwise). They encourage patients to get some outside time in the backyard or a short walk in the neighborhood, but also had patience and understanding when it took about a week before my grandmother ventured outside. Accommodations and personal preferences are taken into account. For example, the 3 weeks my grandma was there she almost constantly alternated between being too hot and too cold. So the fan was adjusted accordingly, throughout the day. Bedside manner is above and beyond. Rose and her daughter Christina were the two main caretakers for my grandma whenever we visited. Their cheerfulness and general positivity is just the type of energy a person would want when not feeling their best. Even in the middle of the night when my grandmother would often wake up several times a night, Rose would get up to comfort her by sitting next to her bed for periods of time and saying calming words to her. My grandmother was a bit of a high-maintenance patient, but that didn't deter any of the staff's efforts to make her time there as comfortable as possible. Cleanliness is excellent as well, with diaper changes and showers being a top priority. The staff understands the effects of medications well, and talked it out with us a few times regarding which route or routes we wanted to take. My grandmother's room was soothing and homey with a good exposure of sunlight (and blinds) and had a nice TV. Sometimes we watched baseball with her or nature shows. Their communication with us was clear, and we always felt rest assured that the most was done for all patients there.

Every therapist I've seen--RNs and OTs--has brought not only expert-level lymphatic care but also a strong medical background that gives me peace of mind with every session. Leaving a one star review only because I can't leave a zero…read more We had a horrible experience at Woodlands when bringing my grandpa here for rehab after his 3 month hospital visit. We were deciding between multiple options for rehab, and ultimately picked Woodlands because of the amazing reviews it had. However, there was not a singular positive experience that I could share. My grandpa got released from Good Samaritan Hospital with a strict diet plan and placed into rehab to gain his strength back. The first night the staff talked to us for over an hour asking questions about diet, exercise, medication and etc. We explained how he is strictly on a thick liquid, sugar free and small piece/ground food diet and must be monitored when eating due to his HIGH risk of aspiration. We come to check on him the next morning and see a plate of whole pasta pieces, chunks of honeydew and orange juice placed in front of him, which he was eating alone. Our over an hour conversation was clearly a waste of time as the staff did not listen to us at all. We experienced this situation multiple times. Helen would call multiple times, not even an hour apart, asking what his diet consists of, to not even listen and serve him whatever they had that day. The nurses would take my grandpa out in his wheelchair to stroll around, and one night as we were all visiting, one of the nurses brought him back to his room and we realized how he was disconnected from his oxygen tank. My grandpa went 10 minutes without an outside oxygen source and the nurses only came to help after we had to scurry looking for them, as they clearly did not realize themselves. My grandpa's breathing started to sound crackly and raspy, making us think he aspirated again. As we urgently requested to Helen for a doctor to come and check on him, she kept telling us how the doctor is busy but on his way for about an hour. She then proceeded to tell us how calling 911 might be a better idea. As we rushed him to the ER, we were told he aspirated and had to stay in the hospital again for another 2 weeks on antibiotics in order to heal. Woodlands caused my grandpa to go back to square one, ruining all the progress he made in the hospital. It's hard to see how so many people had good experiences at this rehab center, when for my grandpa it only caused him to get worse. I truly wish we did not bring him here in the first place, as it only weakened and damaged my grandpa further. It's sad to see nurses not care about an elders well being, and not be more prompt in this environment.
