this is a popular local chain serving "western style" sushi. If you are a purist, this is not for you. I think it may be Korean-run/owned. Their menu had some Korean dishes too like Bulgogi and LA galbi. I came for dinner with some relatives. We ordered a small combination platter for 4 and separate soba combo with tempura and sashimi. Food items: edamame - standard frozen stuff heated up. Needed more salt. 3/5. miso soup - watery, nothing in it. no tofu chunks, no green onions, etc etc. 2/5. Sashimi: atlantic salmon - pretty standard. some very sloppy knife work though, with uneven pieces and random thin belly pieces Tuna - looked like maguro, ahi, albacore - tasteless sadly. It had the right colors but the texture was somewhat mushy and didnt taste like much. Some pieces were semi-frozen yellow-tail - again, semi-frozen and tasteless octopus - a bit tough, really thick cut, served very cold and a bit off-putting Escolar - the "white tuna" that isnt actually Tuna and really just cheap Escolar that is awful for you. This is my tell-tale sign of a really low quality sushi place. sashimi overall - 2/5. At least nothing had gone bad. nigiri: atlantic salmon, maguro, albacore, and a mystery seared one with white flesh - I suspect this is Escolar. None of the rice was seasoned, there was no wasabi in any of them. The fish slices were sloppy too. One piece of tuna nigiri had 2 strips of tuna on it instead of a properly cut and formed slice. nigiri overall 2/5. green dragon roll - tempura shrimp inside with lots of avocado - it tastes the way you think it would. Heavy on the tempura batter though which got soggy fast. very one-dimensional. All you taste is avocado and mayo. 2.5/5. salmon lover roll - this is a bigger roll with spicy salmon inside and on top. Heavy on the mayo, also one dimensional. 2.5/5. Crazy Crab roll - this is a roll with imitation crab+mayo inside, then with a mound of more imitation crab+mayo stacked on top of each roll slice. This was just gross. You might as well spoon a jar of mayo and eat some imitation crab sticks. 1/5. Not a single bit of real crab in this. there were 3 pcs of california roll (with a chunk of more imitation crab stick in it typical of Toronto rather than the mayo crab salad in other places) and 3 pcs of spicy tuna roll. Both average for this type of place, 2.5/5. Soba noodles - the noodles were the dry kind they cooked and to my surprise it was not overcooked - texture was pretty good as far as dry noodles go. The sauce was served in a bowl made of ice. A bit of green onion and wasabi on the side. The ice bowl was the worst part of this dish - it just melted really fast and diluted the sauce to taste like nothing. Didnt help that their serve was so slow and it kept on melting while we waited. Tempura - 2 shrimp, 1 broccoli, 1 yam, 1 squash, and another veg piece i forgot. Thick batter, but crispy. Sauce was average. 3/5. free dessert of sliced (sour) oranges. Service: this was a huge problem. VERY slow. Each table has a call button but it was useless. Nobody ever came when we rang the bell (and yes it does work; we can hear the bell). We still had to flag them down. Even then half the time they forgot what we asked for. And we arent even being demanding. They completely forgot to give us utensils and dishes but brought the food out so we just sat there watching the ice melt into our soba sauce until they came after the 3rd reminder. They seemed overwhelmed and understaffed. Plenty of free parking out front in the plaza. The restaurant itself is clean enough but their seating arrangement is odd. They have dividers making it look like booths but really they are just chairs around a table. A bit awkward to climb in and out but doable. They do offer really big portions of food and you wont leave hungry. Overall, the quality here is severely lacking if you want decent quality sushi. It isnt dangerous though - nothing was foul or rotten/gone bad. Nothing about the sushi here is remotely authentic. If youve had good authentic sushi from Japan or sushi mecca's like LA or Vancouver, you will be appalled at what they serve here. But if you want typical "westernized" sushi then this place is similar to a typical AYCE sushi joint, except its not AYCE. I cannot recommend this place. I found their food a bit pricey and the food is medicore. The portion and the prices are totally off. Great place to try!!! There's a reason why they have three locations (Markham, Aurora and Downtown) ...because they're that good. Great value, great quality. Now they have promos on blue fin tuna, chu-toro, salmon belly, oysters and lobster tail. They even have BYOB for $10! The value of the meals are amazing! The quality is so good too. The kimchi was made in-house. The mixed fish with seasoning appetizer was so delicious. Their portions are so generous I was shocked! The service was also incredible. Bathrooms were clean as well. Came here to have some nice sushi with the family. Service: I've been here quite a few times and always had great service. They are all attentive and kind. You can press the button on each seating to call them as needed. Food: I would say the prices are on the more expensive side but their fish and portion is huge. The salmon tonight though was a bit more on the fishy side but not extensive or overwhelming. They gave extra ikura sushi instead of the usual 2 pieces, just because. That's a plus! Mine sushi (Markham) has been a long time favourite sushi spot for my family! I've "converted" friends to this place too because of their gigantic maki and consistent fish quality. Every person I've brought here has been wowed by the size of the maki! Service is always friendly & relatively quick here (plus, they remember your name from phone orders which just makes me feel special). It is more expensive than a typical sushi restaurant, so I recommend coming for their lunch specials or ordering a boat to share. Their cooked items are also delicious as well, particularly their galbi & tempura. read more

We got the love boat platter which can feed 2-3, shrimp and veg tempura, salmon teriyaki dinner and an aburi salmon sushi. Salmon teriyaki way overcooked and not good at all. It's not flaky or soft but very dry and hardly edible and for $30 it's so not worth it. Salmon aburi is okay but rice is squishy and dense and I think too wet. Platter was good variety but for $89 it was pricey and there were no specialty fish or anything special in it, and tempura was also not very good. They were huge pieces but some of the pieces were hard and veg were hard. Total $175 after tax for dinner gor 5 and not very worth it. Really did not like the squishy sushi rice and not very good value here. I did get takeout so this is not a sit down experience but I get take out at a lot of other sushi restaurants and this was a not great experience for me. read more

Long overdue review since I've been coming here for a few years. Great sushi option in the area. I tend to order their sushi boats if you in a part of 2-4. They've got a great menu selection that isn't overwhelming. With plenty of seating I always recommend reservations on weekends as it can get busy. Honestly, this review is just for their takeout that my friend picked up for me! She and I had a socially distant dinner outside back in the summer months and I can tell you, based on the size of the rolls, I think I didn't even get through six of them before I was completely full haha. Mi-Ne is known for how massive their maki rolls are and you can see that they are indeed very large in the photo! I love their filling to rice ratio as well because a lot of retaurants will try and make you full by packing their rolls with rice. We are back for the Tempura Shrimp here. They are delicious ... light batter and love the size of these prawns. The tempura dinner comes with 5 pcs plus tempura veggies, rice, miso soup and salad for $21. We also added another Shrimp Tempura (5 pc) Appetizer so we can share everything but didn't need the extras. The Maki combo included Spicy Salmon Roll, Unami Roll and a Dynamite Roll. If you can't decide on cooked or raw fish, Mi-Ne's Special Dinner has a bit of everything! Overall the meal was a good portion, enough for 2 people and decently priced. My favourites were the lobster tail tempura and the roll. Tempura was fried just right so the lobster tail was still tender, although a bit oily (but that's tempura!). And a roll with avocado and salmon can never go wrong in my books. But most surprising, in a good way, was the miso soup, it had dumplings and vegetables and was served in a hot stone bowl. Unfortunately, sashimi was so-so, not that it wasn't fresh but just the variety of fish wasn't that great. read more

Half an hour of this non-sense and they just left me hanging there. I've never stood up and just left a restaurant over service, but this was terrible. I am a regular at the Yonge location. They are superior in every way. I had high hopes for this location because of that. I was sorely mistaken. If I could give lower than a 1 star I would. Terrible service: The waitresses either walked past us or did not walk by at all. We ordered two rolls, a dozen oyster shots, two medium sakes, three hand rolls, a salad and a medium sashimi platter. We opted for the sakes to be brought out separately, we had to ask for the second to be brought out after waiting a long time because nobody was checking on us. We sat there for over 30 minutes, not one person came by. Everything had come except for our sashimi platter. Turns out our waitress had forgotten to punch it into the system and we nor the waitress knew because nobody gave us proper service. If they were busy I would absolutely understand but they weren't. We tried to be polite and understanding but the service was simply abhorrent. Terrible quality: The salmon sashimi on our rolls were extremely dark in colour. The rolls themselves were also juvenile, they fell apart with the slightest touch, the rice was super soft and mushy. The hand rolls tasted bad and the rice was hard. Never order the oyster shots. They were not just terrible in presentation but awful in taste. The only thing they give with the shots are the thinnest slices of lemons I've ever seen and a bottle of Tabasco. $30 for absolute garbage. It costs around $130 before tip. If you want to pay an obscene amount of money on awful quality and service come here. read more

First time experiencing such poor services. All the staffs have changed and the server did not do anything after we are waiting for our sushi boat for an hour. No explanation was given until we've found another staff about our order. The restaurant is not even packed on Sunday night. And all I'm hearing from the staff is that, they have received a 9 ppl walk-in and having us waiting for our order for an hour long. Quality of the food has gone down and service is not great. One of the better spots in Markham for good quality sushi and sashimi without having to pay the premium price as it seems to be becoming more popular uptown! Always liked MiNe for their variety, and since they opened the menu has been quite consistent without much change, which I appreciate as "if its not broken dont fix it". They do have new menu items, but the prices are relatively the same, a 'mid-end' sushi price. Owned by koreans but brings good flavours to their dishes. Rolls 4/5 - they have a nice variety of dynamite/dragon rolls with different toppings. The base of shrimp tempura with avocado is quite consistent: the tempura from my experience has been well battered, good amount of seasoning and not soggy. Rolls in general are well composed with a thin layer of rice thats nicely seasoned with mirin so its a little sweet but not sickly sticky. Seaweed still good texture and not gummy. Rolls are relatively big in size (although they did get smaller since they opened). I personally enjoy the following rolls: - Orangville roll 5/5 - love the spicy scallop and the overall flavours of this. nice creamy sashimi with a good kick of spice from the spicy kewpie mayo and the lightly torched scallops. - Summer roll 4.5/5 - they have a roll thats with rice paper, some mango sauce which i dont remember what its called, but this was very refreshing and really enjoyable for a light roll. Sushi Pizza 4.5/5 - very well made. Thin layer of pizza base (sushi rice) and nicely fried, even crispy when its takeout! Well seasoned and not overpowered/ heavy to the palate. A nice layer of salmon sashimi mixed with their sauce, a bit of cucumber and other things. Refreshing and not too salty either. You can opt for other protein if salmon is your not thing (tuna/unagi, and others). Mushroom Udon 4.5/5 - loved this as well. Nice umami dashi mushroom broth. Very fragrant and not heavy. Comes with 3-4 dumplings that can be beef of veg. They were a bit broken so thats where the 0.5 was deducted. Great selection of mushrooms in the dish. Comes with nice springy textured udon. Side salad and miso soup as well with the dinner set. These were the most recent items we ordered, but overall their sashimi is fresh and their rolls are nicely compiled. I really enjoy their bentos as well. Wish there was more variety for meals but I'm not complaining for what they have. read more

Amazing service and sushi! My friends and I were about to go to KIU but didn't want to break our banks as we were all starving after a day of skiing. We came here instead and boy was it a great decision. The four of us ordered the XL sushi and roll platter ($91 I believe) and it was SO.MUCH.FOOD. The platter was presented on a big wooden board and it literally spanned across the table. There was an assortment of sushi and rolls such as the usuals (salmon, tuna, mackerel, crab, shrimp, etc.) as well as some nice dragon and soft shell crab rolls (see pic). The fish was good quality, thick and fresh without too much rice. The four of us (who are normally big eaters) were very full and had a few pieces leftover. Definitely come here and try their sushi platters! Can't say much about their other items because we didn't try any but they did seem on the medium-expensive end (salmon sashimi was $7 for 3 pieces and the udons were $20+). PS. They give you complimentary miso soup in the beginning and an orange at the end which was a great touch :) read more

We wanted some sushi for a party and this place was recommended. Service: Got takeout and everything was ready and seemed fresh when we got it. Food: Got the large tray with sushi, sashimi and rolls. Displayed in a perfect manner that makes it look both delicious and pretty. The fish was all fresh, good flavor and enjoyed the variety. The rolls has just the right proportion of rice to filling. Rice was also great, soft and light. Some of the sushi had a slight korean twist, for example, one of the sushi pieces had a small dollop of Korean spicy sauce which definitely was interesting. The surprising part was there was some candied salmon pieces that had a hint of sweetness and bit more chew. Really unique and quite good. Just a really solid spot for sushi and other Japanese items. I came by with some friends for a Saturday lunch. There is plenty of parking in the plaza and tons of seating inside. I got the teriyaki salmon combo, which comes with salmon teriyaki, along with 3 rolls and 3 sushi. Everything was prepared nicely, with the salmon cooked well alongside a light teriyaki glaze. They even have one of the help me I'm hungry buttons that your always tempted to hit again and again. The food came fairly quick and the servers were friendly and efficient with clean up too. The sushi is really big so that means you get a lot of food !! I had the spicy tuna, a classic fav. But then I tried the kamikaze roll: fresh spicy tuna cucumber, tempura batter, spicy sauce, tobiko and lettuce. Delicious !! 8 massive rolls $15 bucks! Edamame, I've had reg and spicy. Spicy had some kick but kinda greasy. The warm saki is always good. Came in a kettle to keep it warm. They have three locations but if only been to the one. Fresh sushi options, their salmon is always a yummy choice. We got the love boat + a signature maki roll (the golden dragon roll) for 3 people which was more than enough food. We were all super full. This place has always been a favorite for my family - we've been going here for years and years now. It wasn't too busy for a Saturday evening but then again there were quite a few takeout orders. Service was just ok this time, which is why 1 star was docked - didn't refill the tea until we asked for it, and then they just brought the teapot over whereas they used to be more attentive. First off, rolls are massive! No wonder a chicken tempura roll costs $16. I got one roll, which comes with miso soup, and that was more than enough for one meal. Even better, there were just extra strips of chicken tossed onto my roll. Lots of meat in the meal, and small rice around the sushi which was a nice change of scene. I LOVE MINE Sushi. When I'm craving sushi, this is my favourite place to go. The fish has always been fresh every time, and their rolls have such great filling to rice ratios. Went for dinner there, and while their prices are on the slightly higher end, I strongly believe that they are so worth it! Cute seating space and design, the servers were extremely helpful and tentative! The way they plate the food is so aesthetically pleasing. Got the chef's special garden roll which was super interesting! Unlike regular sushi, it's salmon with a variety of other vegetables wrapped in rice paper rolls. I really liked the mango in it, was a very refreshing taste. Their spicy salmon rolls are one of my classic favourites, but always love trying out new options. Definitely coming back soon!! I love this place. I was really stuck between 4 and 5 stars because of the sushi but it was amazing. Staff were attentive and the sushi pieces were ginormous. We ordered 3 rolls. These pieces were gigantic. So the reason I put it as a 4 is because the pieces were so big that they fell apart and no amount of dexterity with the chopsticks could keep them intact. However, I gotta say that I really appreciate the topping to rice ratio. I love that they didn't skimp. We had 3 whole rolls (Orangeville, SSC, and torched dragon roll, which was the only non-spicy roll). The plating was appealing and the flavours were fresh. I'd definitely recommend this place. After reading the reviews and trying to decide which sushi place to go because we were only in town for a week, we decided to give this place a try. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful! It resembles a Japanese village, with the chefs' station being visible in the back and themed lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Empty sushi boats sit directly above the chefs' station and empty sake bottles line the tops of the wooden partitions that neighbor the tables. A long white booth sits against one wall, with ceiling lights that resemble pouches hanging over it. The restaurant is also very bright and exudes a pleasant feeling. There's a call button on our table in case we needed to call them. We ordered the Love Boat, which has 49 pieces. Boat sushi was meh. The sashimi and spicy salmon maki rolls were pretty good, but they filled the boat with fillers. It was a bunch of California rolls, spicy salmon rolls, crazy crab roll and A.S. Dragon roll and I was pretty unhappy with that. If I wanted rolls, I would've ordered them. The waitress was going pretty fast in telling us what was included in the boat. I felt she was trying to cover something up. The boat came out, surprisingly, fast. I was expecting it to be a 15-20 minute wait because they'd need to make it and decorate the boat. Instead, it came out within 5 minutes of ordering. So, it made me and Hubs think that everything was pre-made and waiting. We also ordered the spider roll and it was supposed to be soft shell crab but it tasted like all the other rolls. It might be suspect because I'm not sure if there was any soft shell crab in it. Hubs said everything was pre-fried waiting to be served and everything tasted the same. The restaurant was empty when we showed up. There were a few tables occupied by the time we were ready to leave. Service was almost nonexistent for an almost empty restaurant. We had to flag them down when we needed something. I guess that's what the call button was for. Restaurant was beautiful looking and I had a pretty positive impression when I walked in. But, after that, I was disappointed.
