As a parent, I am extremely disappointed by the experience my 14-year-old daughter and her two friends had at this restaurant. The girls visited during their lunch break and ordered bento boxes. They had saved their lunch money for several days so they could afford this special treat. When it came time to pay, the waitress placed the receipt directly in their faces and pressured them for tips. Instead of simply explaining tipping etiquette if she felt they were unfamiliar with it, she took the POS machine and manually entered a $5 tip for each girl without their understanding or consent. These are young teenagers, and they felt intimidated and frozen in the moment. They didn't know how to respond. After leaving the restaurant, they were upset, scared, and embarrassed. My daughter told me they felt taken advantage of. What makes this even more disappointing is that the waitress was rude and unfriendly throughout the meal. Aside from bringing their food, there was very little service provided. This restaurant is located in a high school area, and staff should know how to treat young customers with respect. Pressuring minors into tipping and making them feel uncomfortable is completely unacceptable. It felt more like bullying than customer service. We will never return, and I hope management addresses this issue so that other young customers do not have a similar experience. read more

We didn't have to wait long before we got a table, an older lady took us to our table and quickly came back with tea for everyone. It did not take long for us to order, as we already looked through the menu hours before (yes, we are pigs..but cute pigs) We got the large sushi boat platter, and Mi-ne udon and assorted tempura. Everything on the sushi boat was super fresh and the rolls were huge and thick! They do not skimp on the fish! It takes two bites to finish a sushi roll. I went during lunch and they only have a lunch menu to choose from. We got the salmon set and the spider roll set. The lunch sets come with miso soup and salad. The spicy salmon roll was my favorite. The spice and salmon that they used were both so fresh. In fact, this would be the best spicy salmon Ive personally had so far (that is saying a lot). I would personally say its because the spice that they used felt fresher - different than the typical spicy mayo used at other places. The salmon was chunkier as well in comparison to other places which I find to be more mashed at times for their spicy salmon. The rolls were mid-sized. Not the largest Ive seen in Newmarket (Minami is the largest rolls I've seen). I was not the biggest fan of the spider roll but for different reasons then you think - it was actually the biggest soft shell crab Ive ever gotten in a roll so I discovered that I was not the biggest fan of soft shell crab! All the ingredients tasted so fresh and the torched salmon was just good. The service was really fast as well. They have the button that you press (it makes a hooting sound ) and the server comes. There are separate rooms - most of them have a cover for privacy. Our room had a sliding wooden door for more privacy. The server actually knocked each time she wanted to come in - we found it so funny. The table had a card teaching you how to properly eat sushi. It's been far too long, but I am back to my favourite sushi restaurant. What makes them so special? A focus on the extra touches, and the presentation is fantastic. I'm eating lighter today, but am having a yellow tail roll, and a salmon avocado roll. Extra sesame! The sesame used here is out of this world. The food is fantastic but itself, but I love extra roasted sesame. The yellow tail is a more recent favourite. Served with green onion, and lettuce. It can seem in some ways like having a comfort food. The sensation in some ways is similar to having a sandwich, but a sandwich without the extra sauces, bread, or extra fats. ;) The salmon and avocado roll is a beautiful thing as well. A taste delight for sure, but from a healthy perspective, pleasing to the palate and loaded with lots of healthy fats. I don't eat this for the health benefits only. The flavour of the two play off each other beautifully as well. The place is very clean, the food is always consistent, and they also cater to people who have celiac issues or are gluten free. As with all things for those on a gluten free diet, do not make any assumptions and confirm that the food is not marinated in soya sauce, has been deeps fried, or has any tempura bits (wheat). On request, they are very careful with food handling and prep. Don't be afraid to ask. I have been coming to MINe Sushi for over twenty years. This was the original Richmond Hill location, but that location is under different ownership and is a different food chain. Mi Ne is fast becoming our go to sushi restaurant locally when we want to eat in. Six of us sat down and enjoyed the large sushi platter which was certainly enough for the table and then some. Three men and three women. All of the rolls on the platter were fantastic as always fresh, tasty, perfectly pleated. Really love the lobster if I had to call anything out but again the whole thing was absolutely fantastic. We always sit in one of the booths which are very private so it's a great place to come with a small group to share some stories. The best part about this is that my 87 year old mother-in-law is becoming a big Sushi fan as well and it was her request that we bring her. She's not just a California roll girl. Of all the Mi-Nes in all the the GTA and its surrounding areas, this location takes the cake! I cannot emphasize how much better this location is compared to the rest of them. The service is much better when it comes to responding to simple requests like asking for additional things like extra chopsticks or more tea. The quality of the fish is 10x fresher than the other locations for some reason, not sure if I just happen to go on days where they just got their shipment in or what, but trust me on this! Their menu seems more vast as well when it comes to selection of what you can choose from which can be a pro or a con depending on if you like making choices! (I personally love a wide selection) [Kanisu Salad] $10 - I personally don't see the variation of the one I believe we ordered on their menu online which is peculiar.... I believe the one we ordered had pieces of salmon sashimi in it as well, which naturally means that $10 would not be the price as sashimi being in it would increase that price! Whichever variation you get, Kani means imitation crab meat and in this case, their salad is made up of kani, cucumbers, crunchy bits, tobiko and their own house mayonnaise sauce! I could probably just order this and a bowl of rice and be extremely content with my meal :D [Unagi Don] $22 - This dish is one my grandparents order every single time we've been there over the last three years and I still can't find its listing/price online on their site! Oh well, this is definitely worth getting if you like unagi (aka bbq eel) because they give you a hefty portion of it in addition to strips of egg, tobiko, avocado, green onions, and rice ~ This is definitely a dish I believe could easily be shared between two people because it's such a big portion! [MiNe Wagyu Roll] $20 - I bet you're looking at that price point and wondering why anyone would pay $20 for a roll. Well, wagyu is a specific region in Japan and typically, the beef from a cow raised there is extremely tender! This roll is honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten. You wouldn't even believe it as its base roll is just a california roll BUT it's everything that's added to it that makes it so good. The roll is then wrapped with marinated AAA beef steak that is tender to the point of it melting in your mouth without the need for chewing. To accompany the beef, they've also topped the roll with extremely delicious vinegared onions! I'm borderline drooling just writing the description of this roll out :O HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMING HERE BUT PLEASE ENSURE YOU RESERVE AHEAD OF TIME! Came across this sushi place that is right next to where I get my nails done. Small but the atmosphere of this restaurant makes try feel comfortable when dining it. The rolls are good for their price and comes in big portions. The service was really friendly and helpful and throughout our whole time there made sure we were taken care of. Came here for a lunch with my mom during the week. Its a really cute place, we had our own little room which I thought was super cute. The service was great everything was quick and tasted fresh. We had ordered : Mango Salad - this is HUGE! but amazing and everyone needs to try. Kalbi - SOOOOOOOOOOO DELICIOUS. end of story Lobster roll, shrimp tempura roll and a spicy salmon roll. To be honest, the rolls are HUGE. Almost too big, presentation is nice however because the rolls were so big I was unable to eat them in one bite thus being rather messy to eat. Never thought I'd get a Mi Ne so close to home! I really enjoy their sushi. I can't say they're the best I've had, but definitely take it for consistency in freshness and service. I've been to this location a few times and I have never been disappointed. The sushi, always fresh and always delicious. There are so many different varieties to choose from, whether it being rolls, maki, hand rolls, etc. The spicy salmon/tuna roll is my staple and typically my first choice.. Or any unagi sushi I'm always down. I'm not huge on raw, but I have had it there. Like I said before, always fresh! They're also quite fatty, which I like for sashimi. Another great thing about Mi Ne is their service. All the staff are unbelievably friendly and always there to help. Can't say that about a lot of the other restaurants in the area. I thought service is a big part of the food industry, but some places just aren't cut out for it. The reason for not giving full five stars is because of the space. Inside looks nice and very cozy, but it's squishy as heck. I'm not a big guy, but dining in there makes me feel like one. Overall an awesome place and I'd definitely recommend to others.. BEST SUSHI IN AURORA! I've been coming to this sushi place for years, and I have never been disappointed! The restaurant is fairly small with probably 10-14 tables, and I have yet to come for dinner when it's not busy. Highly recommend making a reservation for this reason. In my opinion, their specialty is their rolls. There is so much variety and all of them are unique and creative. There is definitely something for everyone! The speciality rolls are $15-$20 each, and they are huge! Sometimes I can barely fit one piece in my mouth. But, it is worth it because they are so delicious! The fish is very fresh and tender, and the servers are welcoming and polite. Although the prices are higher than other sushi places I've been to, I will continue coming back here because everything is so darn good! I ordered gyoza as a starter. They were delicious, even though a prefer to eat then pan-fried over deep-fried. I felt like noodles and went with for the seafood udon soup. Located in a strip plaza this place does takeouts as well - which is what I got, which is a shame b/c when I went in to order I saw I was missing out on dining in here! You are greeted pleasantly at the door (slide the wooden door - so cute!). You are seated at individual tables (booths) with those curtains so it feels like a private experience. I order the maki roll - 6 pieces of spicy tuna and 6 pieces of spicy salmon. WhenI got back to work and opened the take out box I was shocked. They were the largest pieces of sushi I have ever seen/eaten before! And I have a big mouth ;) So fresh and delicious tasting - I was sad that it took me this long to try this place! Ok yes it is not cheap b/c my meal cost me $14 but it was worth every single yummy bite. I would love to come back and dine in. Because of mainly ordering their roles, ingredients in there seem fresh, can't speak for the sashimi type stuff as I get my sashimi from elsewhere. The food is so fresh, delicious and great portion sizes. I always have the spicy maki roll and my family usually orders a sushi boat. The rolls are huge but does not have an excess amount of rice and the sashimi is always fresh. I have been here around 10 times and there has never been a time where the fish isn't fresh.
