I decided to try this place out for a quick lunch when on my way back from the GO station. I was impressed with their selection of Lunch Specials, but ultimately decided to go with my 3 favourite classic rolls. Which were: Spicy Salmon Roll Dragon Roll Yam Tempura Roll I called ahead and placed an order and they told me it would take about 20min. When I arrived, I saw that they offered a cash discount for 10% off. When I inquired, they told me that the discount only applies if you buy their loyalty card. This is the first time I've heard about purchasing a loyalty card, but anyway I decided to opt out of that as this was my first time here and I wasn't sure if I would become a regular here yet. My total bill came out to $27 which is a tad on the pricey side, but I was willing to give it a go, especially based on their great reviews. They food it self was pretty good. The quantity was great, but the quality wasn't amazing, mainly for the Yam Tempura roll. Overall, I did enjoy my food, but I don't think this will be my new regular spot. Fulfilled my sushi cravings :) pretty content with this place and happy to have discovered a decent sushi joint closer to the east end. I ordered a platter for delivery through Door Dash last night and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the sushi. It was very fresh and tasty. My biggest regret is ordering delivery through Door Dash because the service fees add up like crazy. I wish I had seen that this place offers their own delivery on orders over $30. If I had to pick on one thing it would be the way they packaged my order... my dasher was holding my platter as is, not in a bag or anything. It would have been nice if they had packaged the food a bit better considering the current COVID situation. I also noticed that their prices have gone up / their website menu needs updating. All that aside, I'm glad to have discovered this place and look forward to giving an in person visit to the restaurant when social distancing ends. read more

Nope, their staff are still packing sushi/sashimi with hot food items. Husband picked up a dinner a while ago and there it was. Sashimi dinner sitting on top of 2 miso soups. Sushi dinner packed on top of stir-fried udon noodles. Really??? We didn't bother eating the fish as I'd rather not risk food poisoning. Threw all the fish out. Goes to show you that actions speak louder than words and the management here didn't bother re-training their staff as he mentioned in his comment to my last review. Shameful. read more

I live right by the area and come here to satisfy my sushi cravings. Usual days for lunch I come here as well. Not the best sushi I've ever had, but portions are good and fish is fresh enough to liking. Although Miso soup is very bland and almost no taste. I usually throw out the miso soup as I don't drink it and it is definitely not fresh. Prices are okay, but I would recommend getting the VIP card for someone who comes all the time if you're looking for getting a few $ off of ur order. Seating is small but it is usually always busy when I go, therefore I get take out majority of the time. I always order the salmon lover when I come as that is the only thing I really enjoy from the menu. I've had the chicken cutlet, black dragon roll, tempura and calamari before all was good. Only thing is tempura batter could be improved as it can be very thick and over-battered sometimes. Staff is okay, they tend to not pay attention to students as much from my experience considering I am one. Service can be slow since there are only 1-2 servers. read more

Visited for lunch on a Thu. It's located next to a high school so it was busy and packed with students. The restaurant is relatively small, clean and simple but dimly lit. Servers were friendly and the service was good. The lunch specials were well priced and I decided to go with the chicken cutlet set. I liked how they start you with miso soup followed immediately by the rolls which was 9 assorted pieces (California, cucumber and salmon) which were good but the rice seemed to lack some seasoning. The soup on the other hand was very bland (lack of salt) and not expected. The bento box finally arrived which included salad, rice and 2 veggie spring rolls. The salad was great, crisp iceberg and flavourful dressing (miso based I think). The spring rolls were all well done, fresh with a crispy wrapper. The chicken cutlet was good overall, the chicken was not over cooked and the panko coating was great. However, it was very under seasoned. While I do prefer less salt in my food this was well below what is expected. This is a perfectly serviceable restaurant if you're looking for a good meal that's reasonably priced. My only concern was the repeated lack of seasoning/salt in many of the components of the meal. Not sure if it's the norm or an off day. There are other reviews that state the same. I live in Port Union and hadn't tried this place yet, so when my girlfriend offered up this place for dinner on a Saturday night ,I had to take her up on it and I am so glad I did! There wasnt anyone else dining in when we arrived so we just sat down at a table near the front. They have a lot of great options for rolls ranging from the basic to the more advanced. My girlfriend ordered the Golden California Roll and the Dynamite Roll. I tried one of the Golden California pieces and I quite enjoyed it. They used a nice light and flaky tempura batter so it wasn't too heavy or oily. I ordered the Hawaii Roll and the Rainbow Cheese Roll. I was very impressed with my choices. The Hawaii roll or usually known as Philadelphia Roll is my go to roll at any sushi establishment. I definitely give them points for creativity with the Cheese Roll, every piece was so good!! I had never tried anything like it before and will come back just for this roll. Service could have been a bit more attentive, but overall they are on point with their sushi! read more

Located in a small plaza with a good amount of parking and most likely near a highschool. Came on a weekday during lunch hours and the place was filled with young and hungry teenagers. Service was still pretty decent. Got the chirashi for $12.99 which is basically assorted sashimi on a bowl of rice. The sashimi was fresh and came in a pretty decent portion size. The sashimi that were included: tuna, salmon, red snapper, red clam and some processed crab. Meal came with they typical salad and miso soup. Everything tasted good but I have definately had better chirashi dishes that have way better sashimi options like uni and salmon roe. I decided to finally give this place a try. It's close to home and I had a craving for Japanese food. I have to say. The experience was just "meh". I won't be back. I ordered the beef teriyaki lunch special, veggie tempura and an order of salmon skin maki to go. The miso soup was flavourless. So, it went uneaten. The veggie tempura was ok. It was a bit heavy and the dipping sauce also lacked in flavour. I love tempura, but I could not finish it. I've had way better tempura elsewhere. They packed the salad with the hot food so it was warm and wilted. That didn't get eaten either. The egg rolls and beef tempura were also lacking in flavour. I had to add a whole package of soy sauce and schiracha to the beef tempura to eat it. The sushi was ok. With the beef teriyaki special came 3 cucumber, 3 salmon and 3 California rolls. Plus I also had the salmon skin rolls. The rice was heavy but seasoned. The sushi was probably the best part of the meal, yet I'd rate it a 6/10. So all-in-all, a disappointment. I've had way better miso soup out of instant soup paks and better teriyaki and spring rolls from shopping mall food courts. If you like good Japanese food, don't waste your money or time here. If you like "cheap" mediocre Japanese food, grab a lunch special because you get quite a bit for the price. Just don't expect it to have flavour. read more

This was my first time ordering Sushi from here, they definitely have a big variety of rolls and the prices are reasonable. The rolls are big and taste good! However I would not recommend the beef terriyaki...the cut of meat is hard to chew and it did not taste fresh at all. First time trying this place and I live literally a few minutes away. Happy to know there is a good Sushi place close to home. We ended up ordering edamame, shrimp tempura and an order of mixed sushi which consisted of sashimi, California rolls, salmon rolls and crab rolls. This place is crap. All their dishes were dirty. You'd be lucky to get a clean plate or a cup that doesn't taste like fresh bleach. I heard them say some racist shit but they won't admit it because they'll just say you overheard them wrong. Servers tend to talk behind your back to the people preparing the food, almost as if they do something to it. Never get take out from here. The sushi they give you isn't fresh if you're taking out. They also tend to miss some items on your order in hopes that you won't notice until its too late. They also like to charge 75 cents for tempura sauce which is ridiculous even when you have an item that requires it. Save your money. Avoid this place. This place is in the middle of nowhere! It's surprisingly good though. I went with a couple friends after a hard day of work, having worked up a huge appetite. The waitress was very accommodating with our endless requests for water. We got 2 orders of assorted tempura, a 46 piece platter with Nigiri, sashimi, and assorted rolls. We also added an extra Dynamite roll for good measure, which came to around $60 before tax. Thankfully we didn't have to wait too long. Tempura was crispy and hot with the right amount of batter, and all the fish was quite fresh. My biggest complaint of the evening is just that they split the platter up into 3 parts so it was less visually appealing (which is super nitpicky, but all of us were hoping to be blown away by the size of it!). Service was solid throughout the meal. They didn't use too much rice for their rolls or nigiri which is great as well. The dynamite roll was particularly good and I plan on having it again when I go back when I'm in the area! read more

My friend and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. I was going to choose a bento box, but my friend wanted the AYCE option. The waitress kindly informed us that the AYCE option is only available if the entire party chooses it; quite understandable. The AYCE selection may not be as exhaustive as other places, but the portions are quite good. Ordering is done in the old-school fashion: Dictation to the waitress. Both waitresses that night were courteous, efficient and friendly. Announcing what is being dropped off at the table is a good skill that is being used; how many times have you wondered what you just received at other restaurants? As the restaurant is on the smaller side, you may wish to make a reservation (especially if you have a larger party).
