Great that staff are wearing masks and they are very knowledgeable. BUT they are not in forcing the mask requirements of their customers. I shop there quite often and see many customers without masks. Told by manager ( Ruben) they don't enforce the mask requirements. So my question was why post at least two signs on door they are required? They can ask the customers without masks they will not serve them and ask them to leave. Example Costco. read more

I have been coming here ever since I graduated high school @#$%^ years ago. We used to spend most of our holidays up in Morro Bay and interestingly this Miner's Ace Hardware has always had the most interesting plant nursery I have seen in a while. Because of all the recent drought in California, they have begun to carry more and more coastal drought tolerant plants which really fit well with our landscaping. Our favorites are actually the Australian natives that they have here including the Kangaroo paws and Grenvilleas. You'll find all sorts of colors and variations such that every time you come here you'll find something different. They also have a fairly decent collection of tillandsias and succulents that make for nice indoor ornaments. Of course they have all your other home supplies but I will leave that description and rating to people who know what they are talking about. I know for a fact that we never had trouble not finding what we were looking for! O yah, and don't forget they always have free popcorn nicely popped at the front of the store. They are always friendly and courteous and oh, they don't take military discount. read more

I walk with a cane and not one person asked if I needed help, and when an employee did come down the aisle where I was looking at items, he was rude to the customer he was waiting on, so I grabbed what I needed and left. My wife and I were there the week of August 24, 2020 to look at BBQs for camping. We had to ask for help because no one was offering to see if we need something/anything. When we did get someone they were rude and impatient because we didn't like the lime green bbq they had in stock and we were "told beggars can't be choosers". We left and came back a second time for plumbing parts. We again had to ask for help because no one seemed interested in seeing if we need something. Finally someone came and tried to help us and had to get the Miners employee with plumbing knowledge (which is who we need in the first place) to help us get what we needed. It felt like we we the only ones in an empty store surrounded by Miner's employees. Then I found out why. While my wife was getting someone to help she overheard another couple requesting help. The individual requesting help stated "my wife and I walked in and no one greeted us and finally someone after 15 minutes with us looking like we needed help you showed up". The man and his wife were Hispanic. I'm Hispanic and my wife is Caucasian. I looked around and noticed that every employee in the store looked like my wife. And then when we gave Miners the benefit of doubt the clerk that checked us out did not greet us even after my wife said "hello". My wife then asked her if she was having a good day and she impatiently said "yes it's just fine" That was the end of the conversation with the nasty clerk. I'm not one to judge people but I've never felt so out of place in a store. Been here several times from out of town as I visit for my elderly parents. Great selection and if anything, they could stop a bit with the helpful employees. You can't walk down an aisle or wonder for more than a few minutes without someone asking to help. Just kidding. I love the attention and store. And if anyone complains about the service, the wonderful garden area, the great BBQ accessories, tool selection, the kitchen aisle, or the free popcorn, they can pound sand for the rest of their miserable lives. I order a tree from Miners again. This time I ordered the same tree from Farm supply and from Amazon. A simple red grapefruit tree. I had the one from Amazon in 4 days. It died as soon as I got it. I got the one from Farm Supply in one week and it is doing very well. I've had it for a month and it is in bloom. I am still waiting for the tree I ordered from Miners. read more

I work and live in Carmel, but occasionally get called to Morro Bay for service. I recently installed a commercial washer and dryer for a hotel, and needed numerous items to complete the task -- including oddball items the bigger chains don't stock. This store and it's staff came through with flying colors. Everyone there was friendly and knowledgeable. The store was immaculately clean and orderly. I was able to get everything quickly and without hassle. Trying that at Home Depot usually involved trying to hunt down staff and when you did find someone, it "wasn't their department" or they would shoot past you at warp speed, saying they were on break. read more

An A+ hardware and nursery store. The friendly greeting at the door is the first step in the 'in depth' service assistance for the extensive hardware products stocked and available by order. The employee knowledge behind those products is remarkable. The management team is straightaway first class; Willing to listen and resolve. I am NEVER disappointed in their attempt to do the best they possibly can for their customers. From the nursery, their employee Holly created a succulent planter arrangement for me that astonishes me daily. A unique and unbelievably beautiful growth! The selection from the nursery is wonderfully extensive. I'll add that, in my understanding, they keep their inventory up to snuff because of a young lady named Kendra, who'd worked in their paint department and is now in their inventory analysis position. Well I am totally shocked to see some of the reviews below. So I am going to clarify some things about me and my opinion. I have been involved with renovating over 40+ homes since 2003. I have used all of the "Home Improvement" retailers available, several no longer! I also owned a Auto Parts Dist for 20+ years with 50+ employees up until Oct/19. That is my background. I believe I am qualified to understand service. In Feb/2020 I started a project in Cayucos and discovered this Ace Hdwr location. I was very skeptical. Did I say VERY skeptical. Well let me just say the staff, the entire staff, at this location in Morro Bay is UNBELIEVABLY, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable and outgoing. This is a well tuned "Top Fuel Dragster" when it comes to service. All that being said we all have a choice where to spend our money. In this particular area you have HD approx.. 20 mile away in 2 directions. I go to Miners first and only go elsewhere because they do not have it. Yes I do pay a minor, no pun intended, amount more than the "Big Box". However the service, far exceeds the extra cost. From the paint, tool, plumbing, electrical, lumber, hardware depts., to the multiple cashiers, I have not once been disappointed. In closing I will say this from a guy who hasn't stepped foot in Walmart since 2002, service trumps price, and the cheapest price will ALWAYS cost you the most! To the mgr. Miner's is where my dad has taught me anything and everything I need to know about construction. I have enjoyed every trip we have made here to buy something or other to fix up the ranch. I came to this minors for the second time and everyone was very nice. There is lots of employees that actually knew what they were talking about unlike other stores. Not only that I got a lot of help from knowledgeable staff. Afterwards I went to the Woods apartment because I needed a piece of wood and they gave me a piece of scrap wood that was very nice. I always leave this place irritated and wondering why I bothered to come in. I live in Atascadero and there's a Miner's very close by. There are a lot of positive reviews for the place, so perhaps the ones outside of Atascadero are better. Many times I've tried to overcome the boredom, indifference, and condescension of the employees, but it's nearly impossible. Not too long ago, I needed staples for a staple gun project. I'd brought in the information about what I needed, but wound up with three male employees standing around me, assuring me that without the staple gun itself, they could never know what I really needed to buy. The paint department has treated me in a similar fashion -- no one can ever just help. I usually wind up back in the car, trekking up to Home Depot where I find much more caring, helpful employees. Today I went in to buy mulch for the garden. Before I've been able to go to the counter, tell the employee what I needed, then take the slip to the nursery to pick up my purchase. Today, however, the youngster behind the counter first directed me to the nursery to ask about exactly what kind of mulch I needed. No employees were present in the nursery. When I returned to ask him to just write my sales slip so I could pay, then have someone paged to the nursery, he told me he didn't know anything about mulch. Other employees have always had some kind of information behind the counter about the various soil and mulch offerings, but this guy either couldn't be bothered or just didn't care. I wound up leaving and going to Moore's Western Nursery, where they were able to quickly and easily help me. I wish I could like this place, truly, I do. It's near my home and has a ton of interesting items. They are a local business and I love to support local industry. But I have never left here feeling satisfied and happy, and I don't need to waste my money where neither it nor I are appreciated. Instead, I'll just focus on big box Home Depot for home stuff and the local nurseries for the garden. read more

Miners can always be counted on for friendly service. I much prefer them to HD, but sometimes I am forced to go to the warehouse for big projects. The one helpful criticism I offer: get to know regulars. When I come in 1 to 5 times most weekends, I shouldn't be asked if I have a Miners card. Everyone wants a place where people know their names. With a little attention to motivating check-out to utilize mnemonic strategies, you would have even more faithful locals shop you ONLY. Oh yeah, of course keep popcorn weekends! read more

I went there to try and fix a plumbing problem. What I wanted to do was not a good solution. They taught me how to fix the problem and lent me the tool to do it. You just cannot find this at the big home improvement stores. The nursery there is also great. The staff knows plants and can help you choose the best ones. There is always someone to help you. My kids would also give it 5 stars, because they love the balloons they get. Highly recommended! read more

Overall I'm quite satisfied with both the personnel and the merchandise Miner's stocks. I am disappointed with their advertising as they seem to be deceptive on items in their fliers being available or not yet on sale when you have the flyer in hand stating otherwise. Cassie, in the paint department, did the most incredible job ever of matching 4 teeny, tiny samples of paint and custom making four colors that were the absolute perfect match. I went in to Miner's in the hour before closing and, instead of acting annoyed at my request for 4 colors using very small samples, Cassie was friendly, gracious, and took the time to do an amazing job. She wasn't satisfied that one of the colors was a perfect match the first time around, and she took the extra time to correct it to her satisfaction. She was spot on! I used all four colors as touch up paint when I got home last night and today it's impossible to see where they were used. It was the best money spent on home improvement in a long time.
