He always greets me with a big smile and willingness to assist, even when, admittedly, he is "still learning about this department." What I enjoy most about Blake is his DESIRE to really make my experience top-notch. He helped me in Millworks, sold me a Mesh-work custom screen door. Got it installed two days ago and am beyond pleased!! Then, today, I needed some concrete paint, gritty so no one slips, made just a touch darker, so it could match a previous project. Without hesitation he told me, "let me add a little color to what you already have, give it a good shake, and I bet you'll like it." We did, and, as he suggested, it's PERFECT! I'm overwhelmed with how great Blake is. He can bounce from one department to the next and NAIL IT! Thank you, Blake. You're my go-to! Hope Home Depot, SLO, sees this.

I initially agreed, but after that I could never get anyone to return my calls or provide updates. The customer service was extremely frustrating. Out of curiosity, I searched for the door online and was shocked to find the exact same door available for $726, on their website, delivered to my home. At that point, I canceled the order, purchased the door myself, and hired a local handyman who completed all the work--including installation--for just $550. Matt, the salesperson, was pleasant to work with, but beyond that my experience was very poor. Between the lack of communication, poor customer service, and inflated pricing, I cannot recommend using Home Depot for door installation. I would strongly suggest shopping around and getting other quotes before making a decision.

They have a relatively small gardening department. However, they specialize in carrying native and climate friendly plants that do well in the many microclimates of the Central Coast. After two days and no response (email or phone) from the manager, I dropped by the store and had wonderful assistance from a young lady at the counter about our $36K door order. When I asked her about why the manager hadn't gotten back, she dutifully said that 'he was busy' to which I responded I don't care. I felt the young lady who assisted me was put in the line of fire while the manager sat back at his desk in the corner. Bogus. This store seems to be a somewhat 'When, or if, I get to it' business model. Although, the cabinet division 'and team' are good to work with. In the all and all, it's interesting that they don't seem to be aware of or care about their poor business model or at perhaps the execution of a good business model (?). In contrast, the Santa Maria store seems receptive to the importance of servicing customers with competence. So, I've shifted in that direction to finish our project. The new store location on Broad Street makes for an inviting shopping experience. Inside the store, the quality of the donations has also risen, as there were several substantial and well made pieces of furniture available for extremely reasonable prices. All wood, quiet-close drawers and quality hardware make many of these pieces a real bargain. We were greeted by the friendly manager upon entering the store, and he talked knowledgably about several of the furniture pieces. The back section of the store is devoted to hardware and fixtures and fitting, which are great if you are in the middle of a project and need supplies. We got some old kitchen cabinets here when we increased storage in our garage, and picked up enough engineered hardwood to redo the entryway to our house.

We stopped by for a dog fence and examined all the outside goods first, then made our way inside to the dog area. We did find just what we were looking for, but had to search for a staff person who then reluctantly scanned the two that we were interested in. We asked for help loading, but he just said that the wagons were by the door. We hefted the dog fence to the register where they rang it up promptly. There were no more carts available, and one of the issues with this store is that there is little to no parking, especially around noon to two on weekdays and most weekends as the parking lot also serves the SLO Public Market.
