The highlight of our evening, however, occurred after we left the restaurant. We drove a couple of blocks to get gas and as I was realizing I had forgotten my credit card, we were surprised to see our server, Deb, riding up on a bicycle that she had borrowed to return my card. Finally a proper Steak ,beautifully seasoned and prepared to order accompanied by simply vegies and rice. The lobster was small but delicious . I couldnt have been happier they had added chateau st michelle to their wine list. The service staff was attentive and welcoming. The. Based on a local recommendation we stopped in at Miners Claim. My coworker ordered the chef's special Ribeye cooked medium- it came out medium rare at one end and blue rare at the other. I ordered the pork chop medium - it came well done, tough and dry. When our waitress finally came back to check on us , I asked for his steak to be cooked medium- she said the kitchen had just closed and nothing could be done. No apology or recompense offered. This was my second attempt trying to eat at this establishment. I placed a takeout order through their website with a pick-up time of 7:45 pm. The order went through and an amount was charged to my credit card. I arrived at the restaurant at exactly 7:45 pm and stood at the podium just inside the entrance for an unreasonably long time while frenzied employees moved around me, none of them bothering to acknowledge me. I had to flag down an apparent bus boy to ask where / how to pick up takeaway orders. He walked over to a seemingly unmanned table flanked by customers waiting to be seated and was promptly barked at by an older female employee -- who'd already walked by me several times without acknowledgement -- for touching "[her] orders." He explained he was just trying to help me, which forced the female employee to finally tend to me. She asked me what I ordered, then walked away, and completed a transaction with another takeaway customer. After returning to me and asking again what I'd ordered, she asked my phone number, then said that she'd left me a voicemail stating that the kitchen was too busy to process my order. Because the cell service is terrible in the area, the voicemail didn't come through right away, but once it did, I realized it had a timestamp of 7:38 pm -- only seven minutes before my scheduled pick-up time . . . I was left to scramble for another dinner option at a late hour, in a semi-rural area, with unreliable cell service, and the best part is that this female employee was completely unapologetic about the entire scenario. read more

While we've had several really excellent dining experiences at the Miner's Claim, the evening of December 20, 2024, was not so. To start, I made reservations a few days ahead for a party of four, and when we arrived we were seated at a small table wedged between two large tables (groups of 8+) who were celebrating. No judgement on them, but we could barely hear one another at our table due to their celebration. On top of that there was only a very small aisle (less than 24") between our seating and the adjacent table on our left such that no one could pass as waiters were serving our table. This caused a people backup around our table. And, due to all the noise, I could ​barely hear the waiters and waitresses due to all the noice coming from adjacent tables. I will give kudos to the waiters & waitresses for good service especially as our seating was as painful for them as it was us. Secondly, the ​only half the mea​l​s were good. The two plates comprised of the Market Prime Beef (bone-in ribeye, as I recall) were poor cuts of meat i.e., tough, grisly, and excessively fatty. These were $45 meals; Ive had much better steak for less than $30. All in all, a very poor dinin​g​ ​e​xperience. This was our Wedding Anniversary dinner out and we had dear friends with us and I left totally disappointed in the whole experience. What a very good restaurant! The owner has some very good credentials and the ambiance is rustic but very comfortable. We had some very good conversations with locals there while waiting! For a small mountain town, this place is poppin'. Very "cool" atmosphere with lounge-y electro-swing tunes playing, hip blue lightening, and a cocktail menu that is a small novel. This spot was recommended to us by our motel staff and we got a 10% off coupon from the motel so we obviously had to try it out. We got here right when they opened at 5pm and we sat in the front area near the bar. We visited in January and it was quite cold outside but they had heaters on the ceiling so it was nice and toasty above the table but my legs and feet still got chilly. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but I decided on the jalapeño blackberry margarita for my drink and the crusted salmon for dinner. The drink was very delicious and I was brought to believe all the ingredients were fresh. It was a little sweet for my personal preference but it was yummy. My bf got a Mule and really enjoyed it. The salmon was great too. PRO TIP: get the miners mashed potatos with bacon and cheese. Holy moly.... those potato were amazing. I was so fully but couldn't stop eating. The meal also came with veggiEs and a salad. The veggies were 'lightly' cooked, not my personal preference but my bf really Loved them. For dessert, I got the toasted martini and it was amazing!!! This is one of those times when I hate having to acknowledge how great a restaurant is because it just makes it tougher to get a seat! But, this place is over the top great. I was traveling for business and came here two nights in a row. Both nights got the special - a ribeye then a filet - and both were excellent. Nice house salad and fresh steamed vegetables. Really nice drinks - they nailed a perfect old fashioned. They have a great selection of dishes that I look forward to trying and an enormous and creative drink menu. Service is excellent and friendly. One night sat at the bar with a very personable, long time bar tender/ elementary school teacher and the second night a great, attentive server in the dining room. I love the mix of locals, urban foodies and roughnecks enjoying the food and drinks. It would be easy to pass by this modest looking establishment, but don't! They have excellent food, excellent service and a great back story. I'll even go out in a limb and say that this is a destination restaurant. Silt is blessed to have them here! read more
