    Chicken pasty

Tried Miners Pasty Kitchen to experience a true northern Michigan tradition. Pasties are savory pastries brought over by Cornish miners, typically filled with meat and vegetables. I'm glad I tried it. It was tasty and felt authentic, but don't expect a high protein meal. Mine had minimal meat and leaned more veggie heavy. At $9 each, they're on the pricier side for what you get, but it was a good cultural food stop, especially since several locals highly recommended it. Worth trying once, though not something I'd come back for. For more personal recommendations and travel tips, check out my adventures on Instagram: @OfficialTravelGuy

We had been mispronouncing these since day 1 of our trip, but eventually learned "pasty" rhymes with nasty. However, these were far from nasty! We had the breakfast pasty and it was stuffed with hearty potatoes, onions, eggs, sausage and cheese. The pastry dough was super light and flaky too! We actually went back later to get more but they had sold out! It's very small inside, but they do have ice cream as well.

Vacation in the UP isn't complete without a pasty! I tried my very first one today from Miner's Pasty Kitchen. They'd sold 270 pasties before I stopped by, so options were limited to whitefish and vegan. While whitefish isn't the most traditional pasty variety, I was craving fish and the other fillings were your traditional carrots, potatoes, etc. It was so delicious! The filling had great flavor and the dough was like a thin pot pie dough. I could taste the butter. The woman at the counter was sooo sweet and gave us extra tartar sauce since we were splitting. The shop was small and cute. They also sell ice cream. 10/10 would recommend and eat a whitefish pasty again!

Absolutely delicious breakfast pasty! Highly recommend a stop here! You will not be disappointed.

Couldn't leave Michigan without trying an authentic Pasty! This place was highly recommended by a kayak tour guide and it did not disappoint. I had the breakfast pasty (for lunch) and it was very filling and delicious. I also tried the Yooper and Chicken one (we all got different ones to try). The cashier was so sweet and she gave us the history of the Pasty which made the entire experience better.

With this update, I'm only adding an advertising flyer that I found for the shop. Enjoy!

    Yooper pasty

The yooper pasty was a great treat after a long day hiking! It was delicious on its own- but add some hot sauce and you got yourself a delicious treat!!

Classic Yooper (beef and pork) and Vegan Pasties. Yummy!

I'll start on my complaints first and how to fix them in order to improve…read more First, clean your ice machine. My water with ice (and same with the other glasses including ice) all contained black stuff. Simply clean your ice machine. (I forgot exactly what the black stuff is but I know you don't want it. It's a sign your ice machine is dirty.) The space is small and attracts a lot of customers. So it's loud and you can't always hear others. (Not the business's fault. Just something to keep in mind for customers incase you don't like loud noises.) The service is good! They clean and take your orders quickly. No complaints there. The scenery is also great! No complaints there either! The seats are all hard. None of them are cushioned. (Incase you don't like hard seats.) WiFi is provided! Now for the food, The displays are amazing! The food comes out and looks very nice. Well done! I ordered the Blueberry Pancakes and it came out with a smiley face. (Whipped cream was included) The pancakes tasted delicious!! They were crispy on the outside while soft and fluffy on the inside! They weren't extremely sweet, which is great!! I love being able to eat pancakes and not having to stop eating them because it's too much sugar. For pricing, it is a little bit expensive. For example, a cup of coffee is $4.50. HOWEVER! As someone who used to work in a small business that was a coffee shop, this is very understandable. Coffee beans have gotten expensive recently. And plus, you need to make money in order to continue your business. So I have no complaints about that. Overall, this is a great place! I would fully reccomend going if you stop by!
