If you haven't had the chance to the Neon Museum in Las Vegas, it's worth it. This store sells souvenirs and more from the Neon Museum. There are the usually magnets and such but there are also other cool one of kind mementos like a key fob with key to the defunct Windgate Motel or a matchbook from the Dunes Casino. It's a fun escape and the prices are any worse than the typical Hudson News airport stores. Instead of one those lame 2 for $30 t-shirts bring back a piece of Las Vegas history.

REVIEW: I haven't yet been to the Neon Museum so this gift shop in the LAS airport really scratched an itch I didn't know I needed scratched! I love Las Vegas. I love old-time Vegas. I love Vegas. Oh and I love Vegas. I had a few hour layover on my last flight so I decided to explore LAS since I haven't flown in over 10 years. I was so excited to stumble on to this store! Typical airport gift shop with so many varieties of awesome souvenirs. The young lady was really friendly and I could tell she loved her job. She was making/having sincere convos with travelers and I heard her wish every customer as they left her shop, "Safe Travels." I bought a magnet and a pin for the nostalgia of the old Fitzgeralds (which sadly, now is The D). I also bought a coaster that had a picture of the Stardust Hotel. Takes place of the long walkway in front of the resort with water features in the middle of two moving walkways. Utilizing prime space is what this was all about. Bally's used to have the equivalent of a large wasteful front lawn that nobody used. Sure it looked nice but it wasn't functional - and maybe even hurt foot traffic from The Strip. Somewhat shaded and lots of misting water to make customers as comfortable as possible. Overall the bazaar shops are well... a bit bizarre but what can I do about it? I would have liked the good people at Bally's to consult with me before construction but I never got that phone call. The shops are obvious tourist traps but still more interesting to walk past than the tired water feature of yesterday. I guess you can no longer toss in loose change for good luck - but thats something I've come to accept. Being that its outdoors it makes it a very covid friendly place to shop or eat. But I wouldn't worry about that too much - nothing bad is going to happen in a casino... you might lose a few dollars but that is it... and that comes from my aunt with ancient Japanese wisdom. And its true - just think about it... if people aren't feeling well the last thing they are going to do is go on vacation. In front of so many resorts you will now see some new stores - or a CVS - for example. Gone with the pirate show and volcano and in with square footage that has income potential.

There's also the typical bars with oversized frozen margaritas. It gets stars for having a few great places in it to eat. First there's Istanbul Mediterranean. They have a fantastic falafel pita. It's pretty big. Right next to this is Marash. They have ice cream and sorbet. It doesn't have much seating outside the bars. Luckily the food is portable. A few tables are located in the middle of the shops but good luck finding anywhere to sit if there's a crowd, which almost will be always. The rest of the shops stink. A good thing is that the shops are open late. If you need something after a crazy night out you can get it here. The falafel, ice cream or sorbet are good all times.

They even have Krispy Kreme Single Doughnuts Happy Hour, it's half price (50% off) after 5pm until midnight. Donuts gets delivered fresh daily every morning at 7am. The display case is well-stocked with chocolate filled, chocolate custard, glazed lemon filled, chocolate iced glazed, strawberry iced glazed, sprinkles, original glazed, and glazed sour cream. I tried strawberry iced glazed (single $2.50, HH $1.25) and I noticed the pink icing doesn't have any hints of strawberry, it's more of a pink taffy artificial flavor. I quickly grabbed a napkin and wiped off all the pink icing to make it plain. Even without icing the donut itself was a little dense and almost got tossed away, but I broke it into several pieces to make donut holes. The only best donut is Sour Cream Glazed (single $2.50, HH $1.25), which is super fluffy, amazingly light, airy, not too sweet, and wonderfully delicious! Highly recommend just getting the glazed donut every single time. Service from Fermina is very kind, welcoming, helpful and friendly! When I saw they had Krispy Kreme doughnuts, she mentioned it was happy hour and I can get a better price buying donuts in this store than on the main casino floor. Anyways, we did a walk through as we were heading to the sphere. It's still the same as it has been for a while. Shops, one after the other. Some of your basic shops that you get everywhere and some of the Vega's shop that you wonder how in the heck do they survive if no one is coming in. Apparently they do somehow. Of course they have a food court with a good amount of take out and fast food. The courtyard has more of the sit down restaurants and has the Venice vibe with performers and bridge with gondolas running through it. The main attraction, the Venice canals and gondolas. Both inside as well as outside. Most people prefer inside as you're going through the shopping center with people watching you. Ticket line does get pretty busy as it's a major tourist attraction. Of all the times I've been to Vegas, and it's LOADS of time. I have never once been on the gondolas ever. I guess if you know it's there, there's alway the next time. A major tourist spot for the hotel which is a big attraction for them. It's a nice stroll going through it and leading you to the casino. I do miss the Barneys there but those days are long gone. If you haven't been, it's worth checking out. It's been years since I was last walking through and it still feels like it's the first time.
