Took my time and met the cats they had and just wasn't sure so I was headed out the door when I saw my 2 sleeping together in the lobby. Oh boy. It was love at first site! Now they are almost a year old and they are huge. I've always wanted a big cat and now I have 2! Just a welcoming shelter that concerns itself with the wellbeing of its animals and the people who rescue them. We…read morehave little to no medical care in our small town and while it's not their job to care for your animal ( that's your veterinarians job) since their job is to care for and find homes for that many unwanted animals dumped off there, they do what then can, when they can, to help your pet. My regular vet which I had been going to for years casually left a message on my answering machine that the bloodwork came back on my dog and that she had kidney disease. I reached out many times to find out what I needed to do to help her and NEVER got a call back. He was too busy to instruct me on how I should care for her. Out of desperation, I contacted Jennifer at South Coast Humane because I had heard that she helped out pets in the past. Jennifer went above and beyond for my Sadie. She gave her fluids daily, even when the shelter was closed she said to bring my baby in. I really can't say enough good things about Jennifer, Cora and Dr F. Sadie has since passed away but I'll always have love in my heart for these compassionate individuals.

I like that they are available 24 hours a day for emergencies. My dog has had 2 surgeries to remove cysts and had his teeth cleaned also. My cat had to have a few teeth removed and was in surgery for that as well. The Vet and Vet Tech kept in touch with me during these times and let me know how they were doing. I'm one of those obsessed owners with my pets and they were very knowledgeable and comforting. There are several Vets here. They get the most top notch Vets and yes some of them move after a few years. They relocate to open their own practices or raise their families. Right now our go to Vet is Dr. Jessie. She is the most compassionate Vet I've ever met and I've had animals my entire life. Dr. John is the owner and is fabulous too. I wouldn't hesitate to see any of the Vets on staff. They also have all the pet supplies you need. I buy Science Diet food there for both my dog and cat. I've gotten treats and dental chews, collars and toys. I have found the front of the house staff to be wonderful also. Highly recommend!!
