Been meaning to write a review but I always wait awhile beforehand If triggered by noise it can be abit loud from the puppies barking (at least there happy/healthy))) but at other times there all snuggled up it can be very calm and quiet It is an older building and and crowded have to be careful not to hit something as you walk by not a big variety on pet stuff except (puppy supplies) But she sells mainly pups ((Can't say anything about the issues that are being brought up the pups are really expensive)) if you look it up you can buy from owners if you want to spend less but if you do idk if they have shots et cetra-- Not a lot of fish in back which saddens me and there's stuff all over the floor so I usually don't try and go back there because of slipping or tripping (not to much attention on those dangers) A few rodents rats/hamsters Now on to my 5 star happiness 5 stars-customer friendly 5 stars - the fish tanks Puppy pin Puppy box Rodent cages Seem to always be clean when I come in Always greeted when I walk in If walking around asked if I need help Plenty of parking Now for the best I found my lil gurl here (robo hamster) which are very human friendly my sweet girl (see pic/vids) named her Sophia or soph She loves getting out and joining me on my bed wether In her sand -wheel or sleeping in my top If she gets scared she runs to me This is the second robo I've owned in life I take my time to learn which one to buy and she stayed in my hands (put your hand in there bedding see who comes up or start slowly picking up who doesn't fight to get away She's my sweet gurl (life span is 2-3-yrs) I do not buy there bedding because the choices offered harem there respiratory I buy on line (pure comfort-brand) (72-L) oxbow animal health certified (white) For under 9$ it's dust free pure never printed paper bedding (no inks-glues) she loves digging through making tunnels and I hide her food different spots to give her extra exercise Also on line food they love the best (wild harvest-brand- advanced nutrition hamster&gerbil (grain-seed-vegetable & fruit) 4lb 6$ Walmart And last for her only treat that won't harm or kill her (kaytee-brand) food from the wild natural snack(carrot-pumpkin seed-sunflower-roses) really loves the roses 2.0 oz for 5$ And last her bath/potty sand (I put in a sand box made for this purpose Jfwod-brand desert sand 3lb for 9$ (dust free-real desert sand-beige (Don't like any of thee others) Hope this helps I trust them :))) read more

Man this is one angry woman!! Cute puppies in cages. I went in to get a nail clipper for my dog. I went over to say hi to the puppies, when one went over to drink water and the bowl was filled with saw dust. I mentioned it to the woman and she went off about being the only one in the store... Very rude. Pure bred pups for sale in cages is never a good place to buy a puppy. The store over all was drab and dirty. A person that is so angry should not be "caring" for puppies. read more

APPALLING, DIRTY AND INHUMANE! The puppy enclosures had a foul odor, and filled with unhealthy bedding that leads to respiratory issues! Their water looked filthy and was mixed with the bedding. Their puppies seem too young to be taken away from their mother! The conditions were so upsetting, my husband had to immediately walk out of the store, he just couldn't handle the cruelty! This woman is beyond rude and unprofessional! I strongly encourage anyone considering to buy a pet from her, not to do so! I purchased a puppy from her last week and he has all sorts of health issues, some of which can be expected for a new puppy. I expected some tummy issues as he was transitioning to a new food, but from the very first night, I had him he had bloody diarrhea. I took him to my vet at my earliest opportunity when they had availability, which was a couple of days after I brought him home. He has worms, which can be expected. In addition, unfortunately, he also has ear mites and giardia. He is on antibiotics, antidiarrheal medicine, anti-diarrhea food and parasite medication for the ear mites. When I brought this to the attention of the store owner not only did she not apologize, but she would not take accountability or responsibility and trying to put the blame on me saying that he must've gotten sick after I brought him home. Additionally, she questioned whether I was a responsible pet owner and whether or not I could afford the treatments because I was asking for some reimbursement for the vet bills that I did not feel I needed to incur we had an extremely unpleasant exchange on messenger, and I will be posting screenshots of it for you all to see for yourselves. My puppy is very sweet so I am glad I have him, but I hate to see anyone else go through what I have been dealing with this woman. read more

BE CAREFUL BUYING PETS FROM THIS STORE. Since the business owner accused me of lying about getting a sick kitten from this store, I wanted to show the proof of Vet visit. In the photo below you will see the charges for amoxicillin which is the antibiotic prescribed for her upper respiratory infection. They also had to give her medicine for her ear mites. Below you will also find a photo of the HUGE clump of mites that they pulled out of her ear. I am sadly not lying about these things, nor do I see a reason why I would. To the owner: Instead of becoming defensive and verbally aggressive towards customers who come here with SERIOUS concerns, I suggest you stop and take a look about what it says about your business. Perhaps try and fix the problems that are being mentioned here on yelp instead of calling everyone names and accusing them of lying. The majority of these comments are not good, and some are downright heartbreaking. If you were to use them as constructive criticism, maybe I wouldn't have had to of written the post in the first place. Person running the store is known for being shady. Just bought a puppy and was given incorrect veterinary records/receipts which showed nothing wrong and vaccines all current. Had our puppy checked as soon as we got home and she has worms/parasites and ear mites. Make sure you do your homework before purchasing anything from this place. ...I mean just reference the response below lol. Sorry mam, you've got the wrong person. This pet store has a poor reputation, and I was forewarned about it. Unfortunately, I chose to give it a chance anyway and that was a mistake. I'm assuming it's acceptable if you only need pet supplies, but buyer beware if you plan to purchase a pet. My experience has been stressful, exhausting, and emotional. The owner has been combative and unwilling to help resolve the ongoing issues. This was the most unpleasant experience I've ever had when getting a new family pet. read more

We bought our puppy from here. I STRONGLY advise you do your research before coming here. We unfortunately did not and ended up buying a sick puppy. When contacting the owner she was condescending and stated that had I been nicer she would have handled this differently. It was unexpected behavior as she was so nice in the store. When I advised her that the puppy gave our other dog the respiratory bug but thankfully not the Giardia her words were " I don't give a s** about your other dog ." So if you do buy a puppy from there here are some helpful tips: have them vet checked within 2 days and return the puppy if any issues arise. This will protect you as you only have four days to advise her and get your resolution. She told me people make up the negative yelp reviews. This is not true and I wish I had been smarter before visiting her establishment. read more

The rats here are not cared for well. I didn't know better back then, but in retrospect, the situation was bad. There were at least a dozen baby rats stuck in a small glass aquarium on a dark shelf (rats are not supposed to be kept in glass - they need better ventilation). They also sold them to me way too young, at 4 weeks (another red flag). This means they were sexed wrong, and one turned out to be female. I decided to get the male neutered and he passed away after surgery, likely because of his poor genetics and/or upbringing. I have rats from reputable breeders in addition to the surviving female rat now, and the difference in their behavior is dramatic. My Carson's Critters rat is asocial, completely skiddish, and lacks the personality that my other rats have. These rats were likely put on that dark shelf and never handled during the early part of their lives. read more

Do not buy a dog from this pet store! We purchased a puppy from them and it died in under six days. When we took it to the vet he informed us that Carson's Critters has a reputation for selling unhealthy dogs. To make matters worse, when we approached the owner of the store for a refund, she at first agreed to pay us back, but then later refused. She had the gall to say the puppy died because we starved it. Apparently, we like to buy expensive dogs, and spend hundreds of dollars trying to save their lives just so we can starve them to death. I recently Bought a puppy here. My dog ended up having issues being Deaf even though they certified it could hear. We asked specifically about this before we bought the puppy as we wanted to use him to breed. I contacted the owner to inquire about getting a partial refund as my kids have bonded with the dog and it would be cruel to bring him back after so long. I was told that they only need to follow Oregon law, which says they can pay for medical treatment, or I can return the dog. Well since you can't treat deafness, our only option was to return the dog. They would NOT meet me in the middle or negotiate since we now have a pet that is virtually un-trainable but also not able to breed as we intended. I have found out through investigation she is a pet broker and gets animals from puppy mills all over the country. They know they are selling animals with potential problems yet seemingly do not care. They only need to follow the law, and they know they are selling misrepresented animals that are not worth what they are charging. Though we have been kind and reasonable in our conversations, she is unwilling to compromise on the situation. We are considering legal action because of this. I would advise anybody to stay away, or if you do buy a puppy, be prepared to return it. If she would like to compromise she knows who I am, and we are still looking to make the best out of this ordeal. read more

Potential buyers hopefully you are wise enough to read this before making a purchase. I did no research, and probably wouldn't have paid any attention to the 1 star reviews myself when I went to purchase a puppy. TL;DR- She sold us a puppy that she new had health problems, didn't tell us and snuck the paper work in with other documents without saying a thing 3 weeks after we bought the puppy. When we confronted her about these problems she wanted to fight. Normally I wouldn't be creating a yelp account and leaving a nasty review, I would be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, accept according to the BBB this company doesn't exist. We bought a puppy from here, taking it in good faith that the puppy was completely healthy. When we purchased the puppy were were told nothing of the fact that it has a testicle that won't drop, nor the gross over bite in it's jaw that will require surgery. These aren't factors you would normally expect when spending 1300 on a dog. It wasn't until 3 weeks later when continued to bug her for the "Official Pedigree" of the dog since we noticed what we were given was nothing but a cheap print out of the page from the AKC including the html on the bottom. It looked suspicious but luckily she was able to provide that. However she also managed to put in the dog's initial vet check up when she provided that information, which included the vet's synopsis and proof that the seller was well aware that the puppy had problems. She again said nothing and let us go on our way. There might be some fault that we didn't scrutinize everything about the business owner, question the smell of the place, or read all that paperwork and say, wait what the actual f***. But we'd like live in a way that doesn't initially believe everyone is a scumbag, we'd rather wait for them to prove it. We didn't find out about the health problems until the dog's first health check up. The vet after telling us about the problems and how much they cost asked, "If I may be so bold, how much did you pay for the dog." When she was told the vet said, "I think you might have been scammed." When we were given this information we were obviously mad, however we wanted to believe that perhaps she didn't know and a resolution could be made. We were going to ask for a prorate on the dog, hopefully something closer to the actual value. You don't pay 1300 to have to pay another 1300 on a root canal. Unfortunately we never even got close to explaining what we want because the moment we said that the vet believed we were scammed the owner became aggressive and hostile. She started calling us nasty names, got 2-3 inches from my wife's face and said "Get out you fucking cunt." and kicked us out of her store. As we were leaving she yelled at us to come back in, not apologetically but as if she actually wanted to fight us. read more

BUYER BEWARE. I believe this is a scam which exploits animals, run by a woman who is not only an irresponsible animal caretaker, but a hostile and aggressive person in general. She openly advocates for people with unwanted kittens/puppies to drop them off at her store for free then she turns around and sells them for 100% profit with no health exam, no shots and they are not spayed and neutered. This only perpetuates the problem of unwanted and uncared for pets. Before knowing this, I had come in to look at kittens, asked the woman behind the counter about if her kittens were spayed/neutered and vaccinated and immediately she became very agitated, told me that if she doesn't sell them for $30 they will end up "dumped behind Safeway." When I continued to ask her why she didn't spay/neuter she put her hand right in my face and yelled at me to get out. Very rude service. Very irresponsible pet care. She should not be in business. I rarely write reviews unless it's something I feel needs to be addressed and after visiting Carson's critters well over 20 times in the last few years at this location and the old I must say it. Carson's critters is one of the best small businesses I've been to in my life in this town and many much larger. It absolutely stuns me how terribly you all are all treating a business owner that is trying to actually help our rural town get quality animals at a price that is more than fair compared to the bigger cities. Tracy has found us our dream dog with a pedigree one can only dream of at a fair price that barely even covers her expenses and people don't realize that of course her akc puppies that are flown in from verified breeders are going to cost more than an adoption fee for a rescue dog, it's common sense. Tracy has gone above and beyond when it comes to selling us our other animals as well, she's helped foster a love and respect for animals in my girls that melts my heart, which in my opinion proves how much she cares about animals and our community in general! So before you're so quick to jump on here and read a few negative reviews remember it's easier to write a negative review just venting, many of the people I know that love and support Tracy forget about going out of our way to add to the positive side. I've had some run ins with this owner on Facebook. Just recently so I decided to visit her pet store. She claims her animals are all well cared for, all vet checked how wonderful her establishment is. The first thing that hit me was the bad urine smell. I personally saw her be rude to a customer. Her cages that some of the animals were in are dirty, some had no water. She set in her chair on her phone but watching every move the other 3 people with me who entered the store before me and myself made like we were a package of thieves or something scrutinizing us with an unpleasant look on her face. She's not a pleasant person and she wears it on her face continuously like she's just sour on life. Her prices for puppies who aren't even purebreds are ridiculous! And if the come from quality breeders as she claims then why are they half-breeds? read more
