Muddy Paws - Muddy paws incompetence

Thank goodness for Muddy Paws! My pup Thor has never looked better! I decided to try out their…read moreservices upon being referred by a friend who also had a cocker spaniel. After a haircut gone wrong from another groomer in the area, I was weary of letting anyone else handle Thor... But I went ahead and made an appointment at Muddy Paws anyway. When I first walked into MP, I was quite taken aback--in a good way though! When dropping off your dog to be groomed, they let the pups roam around freely throughout the office. Whereas Thor usually gets pretty nervous when ever I've left him at other groomers, he got comfortable almost immediately. In addition, the staff at MP are extremely attentive and caring towards the dogs. When I came back to pick up Thor, he was so busy playing with the receptionist, he didn't even notice I had walked in! I will definitely return! Muddy Paws does not disappoint in the slightest. Plus, their prices are super affordable! Have no fear! Your doggies are in good hands.

I drove 2 hours to make it. I asked for a TRIM on his paws & butt. Here we are 10 years later & I took my husky who got completely botched. I'm going to drop the photos here for everyone to review & make their own decisions. I know hair will grow back but this shows the "expertise" of the groomer. I know this review may do no good to the owner whose response to criticism has been quite colorful to say the least, but I do know that in a small town word travels faster than wildfire & I plan to take my botched pup to every local place to show off his "muddy paws look". Woodstock here we come. Hey may be we can get a shirt to really make the look?

I have been taking my dog and cat here since 2006 and they have received excellent care!…read moreI've had emergency appointments after hours for my dog a couple of times. I like that they are available 24 hours a day for emergencies. My dog has had 2 surgeries to remove cysts and had his teeth cleaned also. My cat had to have a few teeth removed and was in surgery for that as well. The Vet and Vet Tech kept in touch with me during these times and let me know how they were doing. I'm one of those obsessed owners with my pets and they were very knowledgeable and comforting. There are several Vets here. They get the most top notch Vets and yes some of them move after a few years. They relocate to open their own practices or raise their families. Right now our go to Vet is Dr. Jessie. She is the most compassionate Vet I've ever met and I've had animals my entire life. Dr. John is the owner and is fabulous too. I wouldn't hesitate to see any of the Vets on staff. They also have all the pet supplies you need. I buy Science Diet food there for both my dog and cat. I've gotten treats and dental chews, collars and toys. I have found the front of the house staff to be wonderful also. Highly recommend!!

I used to be very supportive this office. They had emergency care, were open on weekends, and the…read morestaff actually seemed to be aware of my animal's needs as evidenced by calls to my home asking how my dog was. That is no longer happening. They are only open 6 days a week with no emergency service. They are clearly aware that they are one of two vets available for all of Brookings and have jacked their prices up to the point of usury. $165 for a same day visit (after checking, it turns out that isn't out of line, if you can believe that!) That or book 9 mos out. I brought my pup in for high fever with the most likely diagnosis being a tick-borne illness with antibiotic treatment. They still managed to find a way of doing blood work (maybe arguable) and xrays (for what?), and my visit ended up being $950. The illness cleared up with the antibiotic. Expensive antibiotic. Most recently, a different pet needed assistance; they prescribed antibiotic (not having a clue if it was a bacterium or parasite, or which one), and never called. I called back when it was clear she was not handling the medication... and got an appointment for the next week. I asked for a call just to discuss it, never heard from them. I asked CHAT GPT what I should do given my provided description and history of the illness and the recommendation was borderline "go to the emergency vet" now. Chat actually defended the $165 as midline cost for same day visit, but the fact they they didn't attempt any follow up even though I called in and asked to speak with a vet was described as a "communication failure". The quality of their care has definitely declined. Must be nice having a monopoly. We need another vet practice in Curry Co. They would be booked overnight.
