A pair of sculptures located in Old Town Square facing each other in a dance pose…read more These sculptures are part of Fort Collin's Public Art. This pair has been on display since Nov. 2011. Local Artist James Lynxwiler conceptualized and created these dancers. He brought these sculptures to life right in Old Town Historic Downtown Fort Collins. One of the cool things about these sculptures is that the community was able to watch the pouring of the molten bronze demonstration in Downtown FoCo. The permanent sculptures were cast in a local foundry. The community having the opportunity to see the process is such a cool thing! I passed by these while driving in my car and and had to park the car and check them out in person. I enjoyed seeing these very large sculptures close-up! Very whimsical and fun! They should bring a smile to your face, so go check them out!

The Gateway Mural will probably be known as the "Greetings from Fort Collins, Colorado" mural…read more It looks like a vintage postcard. This mural is a collaborative work of art, each letter in the words Fort Collins, which includes the comma, was painted by a different artist. They were given a theme and a letter. This mural shows more than just Fort Collins landmarks. It includes a vibrant tapestry of the city's human history through the eyes of local artists sharing their unique stories. Each artist was paid $25 per square foot. Volunteers & board members painted the background the week before the artists came to paint. This mural was just unveiled on Sept. 22, 2024. I didn't realize that it was so freshly painted! It was painted between Sept. 1st-21st. It was a nice surprise to find this by happenstance while looking for Old Town Churn. The mural is both a beautiful & meaningful addition to the city!

Is was Inspired by the people, the history and the natural environment of the Longmont area, the conceptual basis for Flor del Llano (Flower of the Plain) is the merging of the past, present and future into a welcoming and uplifting city "gateway" sculpture. The sculpture incorporates iconic elements of Longmont's skyline, such as the sugar mill tower and Longs Peak into its design. The artwork extends into the surrounding park through the 391 limestone posts representing the original shareholders of the Chicago-Colorado Colony.

I stumbled upon it a few months back while looking for a place to have breakfast with my daughter (ended up at Silver Grill Cafe). After breakfast, we decided to wander around a bit and check out the area. The square is beautiful! In the middle, you'll find a stage that is home to a lot of live music in the evenings, and a fountain/splash pad for the kids (or adults and some dogs I've seen), to run and splash around. They have a piano for the public to play, a fountain to make wishes in, and some interesting local art. There is plenty of seating to sit and watch the kid's play or have a small bite to eat. The fountain/stage are surrounded by a large number of local boutique shops and delicious restaurants. A bonus, a Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop! It is a great area to spend a warm day. At Christmas, all of downtown and old town are lit up with thousands of lights in the trees, on the buildings, etc. It is absolutely stunning! Back to my earlier comment that it truly feels like a Hallmark Christmas movie. They set up Santa's workshop in the middle of the square for kiddo's to meet him, sit on his lap, and take photos. He was such a kind man and was wonderful with the kids. Right next to this, is a skating rink. This unfortunately was disappointing. It's not ice, it's some plastic stuff that is physically impossible to actually skate on. Honestly it felt like a lawsuit waiting to happen with how easy it was to fall. It was uncomfortable and not very fun, we only went two laps and gave up. It was free, so at least we didn't waste any money. It's great for "looks," but don't recommend it. Overall, this is truly one of my favorite places in Fort Collins and I love spending my days here with my daughter.

I've never been to New York but anywhere there are people - you got these funny guys eating garbage every day and laughing if they know their butt horn stench made your innocent tummy wrench. And you got these other people that actually can't control their butt rubber band and they're just leaking all day long (no need to knock on the meat lovers... worst gas I ever smelled - 1 was an all-the-meats american that drank 12 coors every day and the other was a hard working VEGAN?!?!?!? - go figure - everybody stinks). And just so you know that butt rubber band is a really strong rubber band. When u die you leave your bones, hair, nails, and a really thick and valuable (to most cultures of the past) butt rubberband that could keep 5 gallons of water from leaking out of a flexing garbage bag. Anyway - If you don't want to get on a boat just to see the old immigration dreams - you can go to Longmont. The Statue of Liberty is a weird idol.

Another mini statue of liberty replica in colorado!…read more This one is near a bunch of other neat statues. Teddy roosevelt, and some nursery rhyme ones in the park near by. She is a pretty little lady, and i'm glad i got to stop by and see her. The day we stopped by, the park had a number of interesting characters around so we didn't stay too long. But definitely worth stopping by.

Art Alley (located between 8th and 9th Streets in downtown Greeley) is part of that initiative. It's really cool to see folks fixing up and taking pride in their city!

Hometown of Dac Shepard, and where they invented Thumb Dacs…read more At the very North End of Colorado, not too far from the mountains, you will find this town with only three thousand people living here. It's a little town with a big water tower (and that's what I remember about it from my 2 visits here for roughly 2 days each). I'd say it's a little bit too far away from the mountains to really see them clearly, more of a silhouette on the horizon. It's been a settlement since 1900 or so. It's a cute little town and I have a friend that lives here, which is why I usually come back here.

The city is functional and operates, but it makes some pretty skeptical decisions with their money…read morethat should be spent on actual good things. They host a music festival annually instead of keeping a library funded for example.

What a gem!! My husband and I visited the museum last Saturday. The attention to detail and the…read morelevel of craftsmanship in creating each scene was amazing. Even if you are not a "train person" you'll find this place fascinating. Each train is run by a volunteer and managed by a dispatcher. You can really get a sense of how trains were used and managed in 1975. They also have a real caboose from the C&S Railroad that you can go in. The best part of the museum are the friendly volunteers who love trains and love sharing their knowledge. Go, take a friend, ask questions and spread the word. It's a treasure.
