It is pretty cheap ($4.50 for 6 hours per person)! It is very punctual as well. It has two lines: blue & green! Two of the exits are perfect for customers staying at the Marriott at the Mall of America as they are terminals for the Minnesota/St. Paul International Airport.

We parked at Mall of America, found a kiosk very easy, bought a 6-hour pass for the Blue Line to Target Field, and waited for the train. Trains and markings were easy to see and, it was hard not to miss other Twins fans milling around in the area waiting like we were. Took the train about 35 minutes or so to make it in to town and drop us off at Target Field, but we didn't have to look for a place to park, and pay a high price for parking. So, we were both very happy. You couldn't beat the price for the 6-hour pass for seniors ($2.00) and we got a nice ride back to the Mall with our drop off about 100 yards from the car. How sweet is that? Now ... if only the Rays would have won!

I will admit that an uncle-in-law is heavily involved in driving and maintaining this historic, scenic if far too short line. Running seasonally from the south side of Bde Maka Ska to around Late Harriet (see brochure for times etc) I think is a great experience. Without getting into details (see the website if interested) the Twin Cities had a streetcar service rivaled by few. At it's peak (c1920) Twin City Rapid Transit had ~900 cars, ~525 miles of track and served ~200million riders per year. It makes our current light rail system pale in comparison. Regardless, I think that this ride into the past is well worth your time. If you have the chance and are so inclined, hop aboard!

Metro transit does a decent job trying to keep the areas clean, considering the amount of litter gathering in a day. The system is efficient on their timing and I appreciated the efforts to make the cars more secure and safe. The train rides were a nice experience until about 2020 when things started to change. That year walking back to a seat some young show-off tried to block my way as his friends laughed. All I could do was walk right past even letting our shoulders bump, yes we have to show no fear sometimes. Another time a passenger screamed at me for no apparent reason saying he didn't want me walking past him. I've seen cars with litter, people smoking and sleeping on folded down seats. Jump to 2022 and problems seem more cleared up with more transit police kicking people off and the system scrubbing urine stains off the floor. There used to be soft cloth seats which had to be replaced with cheap hard sitting plastic.

Bloomington Central Station, unlike most stations, has a pedestrian park with great landscaping around it, so a person can relax a few short yards from the station in beautiful surroundings. It is also a safe place to wait at even during late night hours. In the cold winter months overhead heaters are available to use. There is no bathrooms at this location.

Good selection of eating places. The mall area is nice for killing some time. Using the tram was easy. Everything is well organized and signed. Delta gate people were also friendly on this occasion. The restrooms were neat and clean.

It is easy to find a USB port to charge your phone, or an outlet to plug in your laptop. Seating areas are plentiful. Restaurants of all kinds are available from fast food to fine dining. And the shopping options abound. One of my favorites is the Minnesota store. Some of the gates are quite a walk but if you have a short connection time a gate agent will page a golf cart for you.

Parking is metered street parking, but only $1 per hour parking. The check in building seems brand new and has a nice bathroom in case you need to stop in before your ride. The employees were super kind and our driver was extremely hospitable and fun to chat with. The train station is in what I would say the nicest way of putting it, in a sketchy part of downtown Minneapolis. It is in close distance to a beer mart and top less joints. It is in closer distance to some sketchy characters that loiter around the train station. Some do more than loiter by resorting to violence. We had just got on the train in the knick of time when a fight broke out between some loiterers on the station platform. Although there are cameras, there was a lack of security presence. That makes sense considering that there is a major Police shortage in Minneapolis. And owing to the fact that ticketing is automated, the survelience from the eyes of a ticket agent is also missing. The one thing I did like about this train station in the Fifth Avenue right-of-way was the large Bob Dylan mural facing Hennipen Avenue. In the future, if I will use the Nicollet Mall Station a couple of blocks south. It offers a nice downtown business district environment, Starbuck's, and the perception of being safe.

This is probably more of the seedy part of downtown however you are able to get to many of the areas that are geared towards tourism. The Target Center where the Timberwolves and Lynx play basketball it's very close to the First Avenue Club where Prince and Morris Day and the Time were discovered. There are several units where you can pay for your fare to get on the light rail. The light rail will take you to the airport or Mall of America all in less than 30 to 40 minutes. The most exciting thing about public transportation in Minneapolis is you can play the general flat fee of two dollars and ride public transportation buses or light rail for two and half hours from the time of purchase.
