We have gone a few times and one time was a Sunday night where they had a deal on wings. The sauces were flavorful. The toast was interesting. It was corn meal type base so it was dense. Food comes in HUGE portions and is reasonably priced for the giant portions. Unfortunately it's really loud in there and I'm pretty sure they use MSG (I'm allergic and instantly felt my standard reaction when eating their food), but that said, it was really good and I'm still glad we went there. 2 adults and 1 kid ate for 62 bucks with a full meal worth leftover. (Pic of boneless wings and fries not included in the review.) If there was no MSG (in something I ordered, no clue what it was) and it wasn't as loud it would be 5 stars for sure. My dad and I are staying in Mankato while he has some appointments at the Mayo Clinic. One of his nurses Lilly from the hospital recommended Minnesota Wing King in Saint Peter , about 25 minutes from our motel. Thanks Lilly! This place is awesome. Service was great, food was out in about 10 minutes max. They were busy too. Looks like they have a lots of cocktails and beers. Driving so just had water. We split a full rack of ribs, side of potato salad and smoked beans. To die for! So good. We even brought a little home with us. I love wings and maybe we can go back and enjoy them. They have dry and wet rubs and the bbq sauce on the table was outstanding. Casual atmosphere, a lot of high top tables and some family sized regular tables. Staff was very attentive. I am a frequent visitor or this hidden gem in St Peter and I live over an hour away! Yeah, it's that good. I am yet to have a single thing I've been disappointed by. With a name like Wing King you know the wings are going to be good. They offer up a massive variety of sauces. Everything from mild to ridiculously hot as well as fun and creative flavors. Aside from wings the BBQ and burgers are excellent with massive portions at a reasonable price. I suggest visiting on a Sunday and getting the Texas Twinkies which are only available then. For drinks, the beer selection is impressive for a small town. I'm not sure why but Wing King is known for their margaritas and promotes them with pride. I don't necessary think Margs when I think wings but I've had them and they are pretty solid. When it comes to service, this is where we go from a 5 star to a 4 star. Now, I'm not going to say it's bad because it's not. I strongly suggest sitting at the bar if you can as it will be a little more prompt. Bottom line, this place gets crazy busy so the service can be a little slow. And being a small town they aren't always the most friendly and from what I've seen they have no problem snapping back a little with guests. Personally they have always been super nice to me. It started out a little shaky, the server didn't give a glass with the bottle of Stella then when she brought a glass after I requested one, it wasn't entirely clean. I asked for my wings to be extra crispy and they weren't very crispy. They didn't taste bad at all, just not the texture I asked them to be. Ok here's the good stuff! The brisket was excellent! Smoke ring was awesome and it was very tender. Mac & cheese was just right, not dry but not overly sloppy. I was surprised I liked the beans, they were like a BBQ chili. The gravy on the potatoes was obviously house made, as it was super velvety and rich. Also, get an extra order of the garlic bread. They make the damn bread! Their beer menu is one of the most extensive in the area, offering something for everyone. Obviously, based on their name, their wings are what brings people in; offering a wide variety of sauce options. The only downside to this place is finding a table, the place is always packed and it is seat yourself; the other downside is the service which is slow (because the waitstaff is swamped and trying to manage too many tables.) The service is personable and they know the exact right time to check in on food quality. This ambiance is a hole in the wall place that you'd definitely visit time and time again. I had the burger pictured below, although it was great I wish it would've had some sort of sauce (BBQ or even mayo) since it was a bit dry. The poutine dipper fries were loaded with brisket and flavor, highly recommend giving them a shot. Prices are very reasonable given the portion sizes. Worth the drive from Mankato. The poutine fries were delicious! We also had the BBQ beef brisket special, which came with several sides. I'm not sure if we caught it on a bad day, but the gravy used on the poutine and mashed potatoes was waaayyy too salty. Also, $9 for a tall tap beer seems really high for this neck of the woods. The place was super busy but we didn't have to wait long for someone to stop by and grab our drink order. We tried to different ciders; both were delicious. We ordered three flavors of wings and loved them all. My only complaint is I wish you didn't have to order so many wings / flavor. I usually eat about 6-8 wings and the minimum was 1 lb. I'd usually take them home and eat them the next couple days but when you're traveling - that's not an option; especially when you're on a motorcycle. If you're in the area - definitely check it out. Was all creamed corn, over corn chips? What's so good about that? I feel like the chicken wings would have been worth the price if they were smoked. They don't smoke the wings? The $8 tap beers helped swallow the dry meet, but it took 3 tall beers to get the food down. Which is a great selling point if you only want people to visit one and done. We got there at 4:00 PM when the special started and had to wait a bit for a table. Totally worth the wait. The staff was incredibly busy and very friendly and working hard. Had a weird experience with one server who my husband asked if he could get his prime rib warmed up. The meat was literally cold. The guy just looked at him, shook his head and walked away. Besides that, the place had a great atmosphere. Everything on the plate had great flavor. Under the toast was seasoned sautéed mushrooms and onions. The prime rib had a tasty smoked crust.
