Nostalgic restaurant with an eclectic menu. We went for lunch .. it is a slow, relaxing pace with time to socialize. The staff were so friendly. Started with the chips and dip ... Yep this Texan was expecting tortilla chips with queso. Learned my lesson ... it was house made potato chips with a type of spicy cheese dig (like a pimento and cheese but smooth & creamy). Good. The main dishes were the pulled pork sandwich ... lots of meat and a really tasty bbq sauce. As well as the bacon jam ham sandwich. The sandwich was pilled high with thick sliced ham covered in bacon jam and that same dip. Super unique but really good. read more

It was a cold day and we had just left a funeral, needless to say a little warmth would be welcomed. We stepped into Swiss & Madison and instantly greeted by our server Ilke who gave us a great table in a warm part of the restaurant. He highlighted the potato ham soup which we ordered and loved every spoonful. I ordered the crispy walleye sandwich and couldn't have been more happy. The fish was extra fresh and flavorful (extended well beyond the bun) and the batter was somehow magically crunchtastic. It was accompanied by homemade potato chips that were also delicious. The prices here are moderate for the quality and the size portions we received. We will plan on stopping by here every time we come to town. read more

Every time I go to Swiss & Madison I am left a little confused and desiring more. They try so hard to be upscale and modern and always just fall short in my opinion. They have updated the menu since the last time I was there which was a good thing. They added multiple burger options which I think is one of their best menu items. This time I had the bacon jam burger and it was good. The charred Brussels sprouts were also very good. We tried their crostini appetizer and it was okay, but the visual presentation was majorly lacking. They just don't look appealing when set in front of you. It also really bothered me that all the sauces are served in plastic cups, just feels lacking for a nicer restaurant. They have a nice cocktail menu, however the consistency is way off. I ordered the dolce vida skinny and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered a second round and it was like a completely different drink. It even visually looked different; first round was clear and a small portion and the second was green and overflowing with ice. My husband got a filthy martini and it was watery like it was shaken but sat in the ice before being poured. Service was okay. The times I have been there they don't have a host/hostess so it always feels a little awkward waiting to be seated. They seemed to be understaffed on a Saturday evening, only one waitress running around, trying her best. They also didn't appear to have a dedicated bartender which would probably explain the lack of consistency in the drinks. The bathrooms could also use a major overhaul. They appeared not to have been renovated when the rest of the restaurant was. They are dingy and dirty. I always want to like Swiss & Madison but there are so many improvements to be made go from okay to great. read more

I haven't been here since it changed the name and concept. It was good, kind of a confusing vibe. It seemed to be older "cool moms?" Regardless, the food was good and I well priced. The buffalo cheese curds made me feel like I was eating the softest boneless wings ever. I really liked them. The wedge salad was decent. I was glad I got the tomato syrup on the side, it was way too sweet for me. It is probably worth a return visit to explore the rest of the menu. read more

Cute restaurant! Everything was delicious, enjoyed the lasagna soup, but especially the lemon mascarpone.

By far our favorite restaurant in Mankato. The food was delicious, service was exceptional and it was a cute atmosphere. We got the buffalo flatbread, Nashville hot chicken sandwich and the walleye sandwich. Truly such good food, we were planning when to come back while we were still there! Would you like a square potato? I give this place 3 stars for a rating, but 5 for effort. The staff were really friendly, eventhough we stayed a half hour after close they never made us feel rushed to get out. The food was great. I had the filet and it was so tender and cooked to perfection. I must say that the presentation was amazing (as you can see from the pictures). My girlfriend's food was however not to par. She takes her steak well done (no pink) this seemed hard for the staff to figure out as it had to be sent back 2 times. TWO times, even then it was still pink. That to me is unacceptable. Well done seems simple enough. Something that really stands out to me about this place is the potato pave. A.K.A a SQUARE POTATO this was an interesting side that I will always remember where I got it from. Way to put yourself on the map. My friends and I tried this new restaurant on a weekday evening. Loved the updated interior, clean and crisp. Unfortunately,we had to wait for service several times during our visit. My friend actually got up three times to request service. They forgot we were even there, tho they apologized several times. We all had salads, the Spring salad was delicious, the Autumn salad actually was missing ingredients that were listed on the menu. The broccoli appetizer was great, as was the Tiramisu. Swiss and Madison is a brand new restaurant in Manakto and I just had to try it. The interior has a very casual elegance feel to it, very beautiful on the inside. The staffed seemed very friendly and any questions we had about the drinks or menu were answered. For drinks we enjoyed a Paloma and a deconstructed Manhattan. Both were very tasty! For food we decided to order a couple appetizers. We chose the charcuterie board and the burrata, tomato, and baguettes, presented like a deconstructed bruschetta. Both were absolutely delicious. The charcuterie board was phenomenal. Plenty of cheeses and meat. My favorite was the burrata. Very delicious, tasting very fresh and flavorful. Only complaint would be that it's a little small to share with another person. There were only 4 small baguette slices, would've been more filling for 2 people if there were at least an extra 2 slices. Overall I really enjoyed my time here at Swiss and Madison! Can't wait to come back and enjoy a full dinner. read more

Only problem is that the prices are very high for what you get back in a meal, the meal was good too but it did not blow me away for what we paid. I had pasta with chicken and it was lacking in sauce, my wife had steak but I cannot remember which one and it was good but again didn't blow us away to warrant $30+ for 1 steak and no sides. i thought the food and service was great. We had the lamb shank and it was just great. I thought the drinks were fun and well done.

Food was delicious and Melanie (our waitress) was super friendly and made great recommendations. We came in about an hour before closing and still received very good service and food. My husband had the ribeye, daughter had fillet, I had scallops and son had spaghetti from kids' menu. We couldn't decide who had the best meal as all were flavored wonderfully and cooked to perfection. Brussel sprouts with aioli were just the right amount of crispy - Mac and cheese was rich and creamy without being overpowering. We will be back! read more

RIdiculously overpriced. $20 for a chacuterie appetizer tray that would have starved a mouse. Tiny fingernail size tidbits of cheese, an olive or two, some bizarre-looking meat, ten crackers, one strawberry that had seen better days and a tiny sprig of grapes. Burgers were about $18.00. We happened to dine on a Thursday night and were pleased to learn that prime rib was being offered. We both ordered it medium to medium rare, and I must say it was exceptional. Then entree included some salad greens dressed in a vinaigrette, asparagus, and a large salt encrusted baked potato, all well prepared and presented. The decor is inviting, service was very good, and the food was delightful. Not at all overpriced in my opinion. You get what you pay for. Went there for my birthday on February 5 for dinner with my father brother and sister-in-law was unaware that the entire menu was à la cart which I normally don't have a problem with but the service was terrible the prices were way too high for the quality and quantity of food that you got and there's no bread service which I think for a nicer restaurant they should at least have bread service to go with salads since everything is à la carte anyway would not go back would not recommend this place either read more

We went for the Mothers Day brunch. First of all I hate to judge a restaurant on a buffet when it's not their normal. However they could have done so much better! The eggs were super runny. Pancakes were rock hard because they were cold. The desserts were pre-packaged from Sams Club which I feel screams lazy! Fried/breaded chicken doesn't work well in a roaster. It was a mushy mess. The salads and mashed potatoes were the highlight of the buffet! However it was hard to get to the salads with the mob of people standing in the way while waiting for their made to order omelets. My family went for my husbands birthday and my son ordered wings. When he got them they had something on them. Come to find out it was feathers. Seriously! My first visit was with a large group with a reservation. The Special that day was extremely disappointing, but I attributed it to the large group. I spoke to the person at the cashier's stand who apologized. Two months had passed so when a friend suggested Swiss & Madison for dinner, I decided to clean the slate and try it again. Another disappointing meal! The special was short ribs with cole slaw. I also ordered a baked potato on the side. The ribs were mostly fat and bones with very little meat, and what meat that was there was tough and dry. Cooking the ribs at a lower heat for a longer time would have precluded that result. Cole slaw was very bland. And, the easiest piece of the order, the baked potato, was not baked enough. No fluffiness, but just beyond actual crunching. Only after a stint in the microwave at home did it fully cook. Also, the skin of the potato was very gritty, and some enjoy consuming those skins. Alas, I'm over it, and will direct my parties somewhere else in the future. read more

Our first visit for my Wife's birthday. First impression of the remodel was positive. Very open and light a great improvement. The staff and especially our waitress was extremely polite and always carried a smile. The menu was limited don't know if is by design or they change it often. Our food was served in a very timely matter and we enjoyed our selections. My only complaint is the prices. Understand that this is meant to me an upscale dining experience and it was better than most in Mankato. I ordered the special which was a smoked pork chop. The menu had it at $27.00 however I assumed as a special it would be less. It was still $27.00 for just the pork chop and topped with caramelized onions and mustard. Everything is Ala cart. I hope that they can look at some of the price points and make it appealing to visit often not just on a special occasion. We will return but hope for a more affordable evening read more
