Terrible. This towing company works with ice. I went to just pick up my uncles car and they called the police which is fine but they involved ice in it too. They first told us we could pick up the car around 1 and then called us again saying how we had to wait until 2:30. We first came at 8am, drove two hours to get there and now have to wait 6 to get my uncles car? They are racist and just rude. read more

I gave this company a one star review back in 2018 and swore I would never use them again. I wouldn't have if Triple A didn't mess up and send them to me when our car needed to be towed. They had also been sent to me before and I told them to go back because I was so angry with the owner from the time before. If this place had been sold, and the old owner is gone, I will happily take my old review down. I wanted to say that after dealing with AutoNation Toyota in Leesburg and the most unsafe tires I have ever put on our car since this past November, I had one completely lose all of its air at the air compressor at Sheetz in Winchester. Your driver, Anthony, came to my rescue. He was extremely kind. He kept me informed of when he would be there. He loaded the car quickly. He was extremely kind. He was very empathetic. He was a good conversationalist all the way to Leesburg. He took an extremely bad situation and made it better. He is an asset to your company. Had a sidewall blow out on my Chevy Kodiak 5500 at 0200 on Friday. After struggling with onstar and chevy roadside for 2hours of not getting someone, a VA State Trooper stopped and ran blocker and called for a heavy wrecker. Steve came out with a medium duty rollback and tried to wheel lift the truck but was not able to, but he did call for the heavy duty rollback(massive truck) and got my truck back to the shop at 0500. Steve then changed my tire and back on the road by 0600. read more

Was flexible with the towing location as during the time my car broke down I was able to procure a repair shop to look at my vehicle that was located 2 blocks from my house. After calling AAA this morning, they dispatched Josh to my location for a slow leak in my tire. 1. He arrived within the given timeframe. 2. He was quick to document what he needed. 3. Removing the tire was fast and efficient. 4. Finding the problem with the tire took under a minute. (Bad plug from a previous fix we didn't know about) 5. Placing the spare on the car, child's play. From arrival to departure was about 20 minutes, tops. Josh was so friendly throughout our conversation, and he did exactly as he was hired to do. The garage is the most expensive place I have ever taken my car. I took it there to get inspected and to get a problem fixed, they wanted just under $600 for the inspection (I got done for under $200 somewhere else) and they never fixed my original problem, but the charged my $75 saying they tested the car and found nothing. I feel they are a scam and are not to be trusted. If you have to use their service plan to have your vehicle gone at least all day and the loss of a paycheck! read more

I brought my 2002 Honda Civic to this garage to have them look into an overheating problem we were having. Other than the fact that they got to it the next morning, I am unable to give them a good review. Here are the details. I asked them if they ran diagnostics since the check engine light was on, and they said yes, but the only code that came up was for the "cam position sensor" which would cost over $300 to repair. I said what about the code for the cooling system? They said that no code came up for that. I told them to install a new thermostat, and mentioned that what if the ECT (engine control temperature) sensor was bad? Wouldn't that throw off the fuel/air mixture and send a bad signal to the cam sensor? They dismissed my concern. I also asked if they checked if the ECT switch (which tells the cooling fans to turn on and off) was tested? They again dismissed my concern, saying the vehicle was "running fine" and "we deleted the code". I also asked what the thermostat looked like when they removed it? They said "you can't tell anything from that" and did not show me the old thermostat. I also asked if they thought they had solved the overheating, and they said, "well...it's running fine now...who knows?" That very next day, the car overheated again! Now bear in mind, I have a code reader, and my nephew and I checked the codes. As a former Sears Mechanic, also know something about auto repairs. Both the codes for the cam sensor and cooling system were still stored by the Civic's computer. My nephew and I were able to diagnose the issue, which turned out to be that both the ECT sensor, ECT switch and the radiator cooling fans, were all bad. I even bypassed the ECT switch, which should have turned on the fans, but only the second (A/C fan) began spinning. Now if we were able to this, how come Minnick's Garage couldn't do it? I'll tell you why. This outfit has a habit of "roping in", meaning they will do some repairs, but not everything, hoping you'll have to come back, again...and again. I told them what was wrong, what all the symptoms were, but they basically made no effort to get to the root cause of the problem. I have had bad experiences with this business before, and let this be a warning to anyone thinking about using them. read more

back in 2018 I was on my way to work in Winchester va and I stuck a flat bed truck that was sticking out in the driving lane and totaled my car. when I went to the shop to get my things the owner was telling me about all the things I have to pay to his company because of the accident . I told him it wasnt my fault and he said "I heard you were texting and driving" but at that time I didn't have service . he then asked me how much I payed for my car and offered me 1000$ for it and everything be dropped. being young and dumb I accepted the 1000$ . come to find out he was in the wrong, but it was too late . since then that accident charged me 5500$ in medical bills. I do not recommend. And there's nothing I could ever do about it due to the statue of limitations read more

Absolutely horrible place to bring a vehicle to. One of your typical shops that will tell you that you need a laundry list of work done, when in reality, you do not. Just had my car inspected in Maryland on Dec.1, passed no problem, was able to re-register the car. Bought myself out of my lease later that month and needed to register with my new address in VA. Took the 2015 car to Minnicks and left it while they inspected it. Called to find out the status of my car and was told it failed due to issues with the brake calipers. Kia dealership inspected the car the second week of December for the buyout, and there were no issues. Was told Minnicks had a reputation for doing this but decided to give them a shot. Absolute MISTAKE! Do NOT take your car here, they will BS you. Will also be making a complaint with the BBB. Poor service and no pride in their reputation, just out for money. read more

I have been coming here for years. I find Ken Is honest and never "up sells" me stuff I don't need. I have taken my cars to other shops for minor things and they usually give you the "free inspection" whether you asked for it or not. I bring the list of the $2,000 dollars in repairs I am told I need to get from these other shops to Minneks and Ken usually crosses 98% of the "needed" repairs off the list. Ken will tell me if I need to have the repair done, when it really needs to be done, and give me an estimate of the cost. Usually the repair comes out less or at the estimated cost. in all the years I have been coming here, the repair has never exceeded the estimated cost. I wish I could come here for minor things like oil changes, but since I don't live or work in Winchester, I usually have to take the day off from work in order to do so. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE FOR SERVICE - OR ANYTHING ELSE - HERE... I took my vehicle in for a battery replacement and they replaced the battery alright... the vehicle is a Toyota Highlander and it has something called a Stop and Start System... this system is connected to the battery via the wiring harness... in replacing the battery, the mechanic "didn't notice" that the battery was connected to the wiring harness and cut the wires and severely damaged them... three days later while on my way to Frederick, I got "battery charging" messages" and when I put the car in gear after idling while my brother was at a doctor's appt, I got a warning triangle and a message that said "Stop and Start System Malfunction - Visit your Dealer..." I took the vehicle in to Malloy Toyota on Saturday the 9th and making a long story short, they had to replace the battery, repair the wiring harness connections, and reconnect the Stop and Start System... the car has functioned perfectly since then, so Minnick's claim that the problems were other than the battery and that "there is no cutting wires" to replace a battery are incorrect... they are refusing to allow me to return the battery for a refund of the cost of the battery and the labor to install it, and the cost of the repairs necessary to fix the damage that their mechanic did... as I said before, DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE FOR SERVICE - OR ANYTHING ELSE - HERE!!! read more

This shop has good people. 07 FJ Cruiser, the tail pipe rusted off the muffler and was dangling. Was able to remove the tail pipe myself and picked up a new exhaust (cat-back) online. Went to remove the bolts from the muffler bracket and snapped them. I don't have a torch or a tap set. Called Minnick's and they had it up on the rack within an hour, removed the damaged bolts and put on the parts I brought with me. Was out of there less than $100. A lifesaver. read more

Went there to have my transmission replaced, brought it with me. Had everything looked at by a real mechanic prior to calling them. Made an appointment to drop my truck off on Tuesday morning and have it back by that afternoon for a really reasonable price....somethings are too good to be true...they didn't even pulled the truck into the garage until the following day, then didn't have it "done" util that Friday, whenever I called to check out it, the me mechanic spoke as if working on a power wheel would be out of his skill set nevermind a 3/4 ton truck and when I "spoke" to the owner Ken and use the term spoke lightly because our conversations entailed him talking to me like I didn't have a clue what was going on and he was doing me a favor by even letting me into his presence, he would promised the next day. Now for the good part when I finally got my truck back after almost a week my automatic now has no over drive and no has to be manually shifted through the gears, the broke a bolt off in the yoke of the front drive shaft had the balls to place the drive shaft into the bed of my truck and not tell me about it, and all they said was the didn't have a clue what was going on it should be good enough and I might wanna take it to the dealership to have looked it. What I should have done is went to see a real mechanic and not some tow yard moonlighting as mechanics....don't go there, don't send anyone there and for the love of God if you see them RUN... read more

I really don't like giving bad reviews to businesses but I have to give my account of the services I received from this automotive shop. This past spring my MDX broke down off of route 50 near Winchester VA. My insurance company provided towing service for my vehicle which took my MDX to Minnick's. My belt and bearings were replaced and repaired. Because the towing service left my hazard lights running they also replaced the battery. After the repairs my belt was squealing but was told that it was a new belt and just needed to work itself out. A little over 6 moths the squealing was so bad I had to take it back for a diagnosis. I was told unless I wanted a service charge they could not do anything for me because of their 30 service guarantee. This was a surprise to me because I had constantly been telling them about my squealing belt. I took my MDX to be diagnosed by a different service shop and found that I needed a new belt and new bearings. SHOCKER because I was told that the belt I thought had been replaced was worn and causing spilling and that my MDX also needed new bearings, this was causing all the squealing. Had my service done with the other service shop and now no problems. Just 2 months later. My battery dies. Supposedly a brand new battery from Minnick's died within 8 months. WTF had my alternator checked and sure enough it was a bad battery sold to me as New from Minnick's. I sure hope this helps those who are considering getting a service repair from Minnick's Auto Repair because my experience with Minnick's cost me $600 plus with Minnick's and an additional $500 to actually get my MDX service properly taken care of. read more

My car broke down and I needed it towed to Manassas, VA. It was after 3:00 pm when I called and they close at 5:00 pm, so she said to call at 8:00 am the next morning. I did and she said something I didn't understand but it was not nice I know that. The only part I understood of what she said was to call back in five minutes. I did but no one answered. I left a message and no one called back. As a result, I had to find another company to tow my car and the repair shop could not get to my car that day. Had I gotten it there either the night before or before 9:00 am, it would not have been a problem. I have used this company for towing many times and have not been treated poorly before, but when your car is not drivable, it matters if the company puts you off and the tone they use. I guess they don't need any more business and that's good because they just lost mine for the future. Because I was told there had been so many complaints about that employee that she no longer worked there, I did try again to use them. My opinion remains the same, as they were just as nasty, and I again had to use another company. Not the business they used to be for sure. read more
