I went to this library for a play read, and that was my first thought - my, we're parking on the side of the road. It did work out, all cars were fine, but I see why they maybe needed more space. The building is a beautiful stone though, and inside is now a book store owned by the library. They have their selections divided by topic, and are priced reasonably enough for used books. There is a fireplace on the first floor, and a restroom on a little half level going up. Overall a very pretty building.

This is truly rural Connecticut. The library is a large facility. Clean, quiet, modern. Stacks and stacks of books, quite a few places to sit and read, and several spots with comfortable tables to use as a work space. I'm sincerely impressed. My only complaint is that the parking lot is small. My Sprinter van was challenged. I don't know how people with big vehicles would do here, especially in the winter. I'm really happy I was able to meet Susan she was one of the coolest people in the library she actually gave us a chance to investigate one of the haunted rooms seeing we are a paranormal team that chance was given and me and my brother can't thank you enough because not a lot of people wanna give that chance to a team that's just starting out and even learning more as we go along with our investigations we will definitely be back to do some more paranormal investigating this place didn't disappoint at all again thank you Susan .

There are reading areas inside and a few tables outside with umbrellas. Multiple computers for public internet. There is a system called Libby which gives access to online books and audio books once you have a card. The staff were all friendly and helpful. There is a small interactive play area in the children's book section. Lots to offer at your local library. Definitely will come back.

They also communicate through apps with notifications which is very helpful. You can use Hoopla with your membership which is a very valuable source of free audio books.

Yesterday, I visited the Booth Library to conduct research on an event from Newtown's past. In…read moreseeking out a copy of a specific reference book, I was assisted by Shari Merrill, Head of Adult Services. She went above and beyond the call of duty in helping me to find exactly what I needed and and did it in a cheerful and friendly way. She tracked down the book I wanted, and then scanned maps within it. She next found an additional resource I was unaware of, and made photocopies of its content. Lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore, local historic artifacts, paintings, etc. Also, nice selection of DVD's to borrow, and fun activities for babies and toddlers during the week. The Oxford Public Library is absolutely delightful! First, the librarians are so welcoming to…read morevisitors. I was blown away by how excited they were to show off their library and discuss it. Secondly, it was obviously decorated with love and excitement in their job. The displays are adorable (for kids) and calming (for adults). Third, the building is new and feels spacious as you browse around or look for a place to read (including their outdoor patio). The parking lot also has plenty of room for visiting cars.
