One of the few mom and pop sort of bakeries in my area. I am never greeted when I walk in. There are always several employees leaning against the counter scrolling on their phones. Today I walked in after two other customers who let me go first. The employee who assisted me acted like she didn't want to be there. Neither of the 3 other employees bothered to assist the young men who came in with me. (Two of the employees were scrolling) Not a great experience. As soon as my sister and I entered this bakery we could feel the love. There were all types of breads, cakes, donuts and cookies! Stephanie welcomed us in . We told her what we were looking for, a last minute birthday cake, and she guided us. She decorated the way we asked. And she suggested we buy a slice of the cake before purchasing the whole cake! I'm going to say, these people were very kind and welcoming. It's a cute place. We drove by it but actually, you have to turn on the street before you get there to get into the parking lot. The reason I gave them 3 stars and not more is just the dryness of the products. The cake was just so dry. The carrot cake was okay and the coconut pineapple cake tasted like soap a little bit... i wasn't a fan. Even the pineapple upside down cake was VERY DRY! Which was sad because it had a great flavor! Let me start off by saying that I am of course a celebrator of all things weird and wacky! So, with today being National Lemon Meringue Pie Day, I ordered 5 pies for my office from Minos to celebrate the day. I've never tried their pies but said let me give them a shot. I received so many rave reviews from employees in the office that it was unbelievable! I finally got to try a piece and OMG! That damn meringue is some of the BEST I've ever had!!!!! The lemon filling was perfectly tart and the crust was the perfect thickness and consistency too! All up we WILL be ordering from Minos again! Concur is the only imaginable thing I can do, with the negative 1-star reviews on customer service. Based on neighbors' reviews, I placed an order for 3 large cakes, 8 days before pickup, . At hello, the girl at the counter, was cold, listless and without any interest in serving customers. I get the feeling she considers my order a favor she is doing me instead of being helpful and happy to have the business. As I glanced in the case at slices of strawberry shortcake, I saw a lot of cream and literally 2 flecks of a strawberry, so I bought a slice to taste it. I explained that about 25 times both in person and on the phone when checking only order, that strawberry shortcake is the world over is a layer of cake, whipped creme spread on top and slices strawberries all over the layer. Next layer--same thing, with whole strawberries on top, not one lone, sole strawberry. They pretend this is complicated. They pretend that its expensive, when in July strawberries are $5 a quart. "I already agreed to pay extra for more strawberries, but extra isn't going to cut if you're normal whole cake doesn't have the equivalent of 4 strawberries!" I do not exaggerate. Request to speak to manager, baker or owner to no concern or avail. No call back. Go on to the chocolate raspberry cake. "Ok, do I have to request actual raspberries, or is that a given?" Dead silence. Ask again. Eventually a pulse from Ms. Congeniality, "Oh no, we don't get fresh fruit. It's jam." Pineapple cheesecake: a gelatinous mess of pineapple muck on top. I do want to be fair. The actual cake itself is good. Everything on the cake and the process of communicating with these zombies makes it a place to which I do not recommend you even try. Just want bread, you say? Hyper-white marshmallow is that they have. My cheese danish to-go? I've had better from a supermarket. Cookies-- I did not try them. My strawberry shortcake? I put my own strawberries on top. It's rather pathetic, that I needed to do that. I put my own raspberries on top of the chocolate cake, too. **Photo attached is Mino's idea of "extra strawberries". Cakes and Pastries are good, that is the reason, I go to this place, but the employees are nasty, not friendly and I can feel employee hated any questions I was asking about cakes or pastries. Also employee were in rush explaining , even though no one was in a store. They were Three employee but doing nothing but either standing or talking to each. This has been my and my family's favorite bakery in recent years. I love the soft strawberry cake. But the service attitude of the staff here is terrible, and today they made me extremely disappointed. I came here this afternoon to get my daughter's birthday cake that I ordered two days ago. A woman asked for the person's name; She said she couldn't find my name on any orders today. She asked I called or came here to order it. I confirm I came here to choose the cake and design for it; I gave the payment receipt they gave me two days ago. She expressed her displeasure and said that the bill didn't prove anything. After asking for my name repeatedly at least four times, she still said she couldn't find it. I tried to explain that I received this note two days ago, made an appointment today (01/23/2022) to pick up the cake, and asked her to double-check today's orders. After checking, she said she had seen my order but said it wasn't time to pick up the cake yet (my appointment was 4 pm, but I arrived 1 pm earlier). I said I knew I came earlier than the scheduled time; if the cake weren't finished, I would come back to pick it up at 4 pm. She said I could wait ten more minutes for my cake to be done; I agreed. But after waiting for 15 minutes, a man came out and asked me if I wanted to go somewhere; I said no because she told me to wait 10 minutes; I thought my cake was finished. But the fact that I had to wait 45 minutes. When delivering the cake, she asked me if I wanted to write anything on the cake with an unfriendly attitude. I said I wanted to write "happy birthday Lynn" and the date. While observing, I saw her writing 01/22/2022. I told her I wanted to write the 23rd, not the 22nd (today is 01/23). She showed a horrible attitude: sighing, scowling, shaking her head, etc. I emphasized that today is the 23rd, my child's birthday is today, not yesterday. She got angry and glared at me like I was crazy. Then she went to the inside(probably to check the calendar), then came back, without any explanation, sloppily wrote the date (with picture), most importantly, without an apology, for her impolite actions. When she put the cake in the box, she did it very hard, causing the cake to hit the edge of the box and leave a large hole (pictured). She didn't care, or maybe she thought I didn't see it and ignored it? Even though the cake is delicious, I am not returning with this customer service. One of my colleagues brought in cannolis saying they were from one of my bakeries in South Philly. They looked pale compared to the cannolis I remembered but ... When I sampled one, I thought either someone in the bakery just died or these had been stuck on a shelf for a week. Turns out, they were from Minos. They were that BAD. It is with regret that I give Minos a bad report. The pastries were so bad....I didn't eat them. The cookies that sell for 12.99 a lb were so bad....they tasted like store bought seconds. Nothing like the cookies that I used to get there. The Neapolitan cake was so tough...I couldn't cut the slice with a fork. I had to use a knife. It was totally tasteless. What is better than the intoxicating smell of freshly baked bread, parties, and cakes? Eating them of course! Minos is a neighborhood family run bakery located 15 minutes from Atlantic City and likely missed by people visiting the casinos, which is really a shame. Minos is not glitzy and glamorous but keeps it real...and by keeping it real I mean stocking the counters with fresh baked goods that just tastes darn good. For someone who has never been to Minos, it is easy to get overwhelmed. Minos is like the candy store of baked goods, everywhere you turn there are pies, cakes, cookies, cakes, and breads beckoning you to take them home. And with everything reasonably priced, it's okay to be a little impulsive and buy too much...it will be put to good use I am sure. My top picks at Minos are the baklava, cannoli, and red velvet. However, everything I have eaten have been pretty solid in terms of taste. When biting into one of Minos' pastries it is apparent that freshness really does make a difference when it comes to baked goods. The cakes are moist and not overly sweet. I heartily support small businesses because they help the local community. The pastries that Minos puts out does more than help economically, I think. When you bite into one of Minos' pastries you begin to understand that this little bakery is bringing smiles to the community. People in the community are lucky to have such a great bakery. I'm being nice giving a rating of one. We ordered 3 cakes, well technically 4. We ordered two 10" rounds with a photo on each. There were bubbles under the picture of one if them. They piped little balls to incase the photo, which in all seriousness, a legally blind person would have done a better job. We has a center cake that was 90. The icing was white and the pipping was this washed out blue. Again if that was supposed to be contrast, the person was color blind. The cakes were Dry! This not the quality priduct Minos used to be known for. Same for the sticky buns. I've come home to jersey twice in 30 days and made a b-line to minos. Absecon store. I asked the counter person if they were baked fresh that morning, and her response was, they were delivered at 6am that morning. I bought 2. Really disappointed the sugar had crystallized, and they were dry. On my visit this time I decided to stop at Minos in P'Ville. Store was ridiculously crowded with racks that housed some wrapped items and pies that were uncovered. A customer came in, sneezes. my first thought was "it's all over" (That's probably who I caught my cold from). Back to the infamous sticky buns. I asked the same question, "were these baked fresh that morning". The counter persons' response was, they may have been baked late the day before or/and probably wrapped that morning. I bought 2. Same situation, sugar had begun to crystallize and the butter, if they used butter, had solidified in the creases of the bun. So both times my question went unanswered. Just so you know, anytime your sugar has crystallized and the butter has solidified, they ate OLD. one more time, "they are old". Won't be back, not ever! read more

Hands down the best strawberry shortcake in the South Jersey Region by far! The only thing I ever really buy here is their strawberry shortcake for various occasions, if you haven't called ahead of time, it's the one thing they always have stocked in the fridge and ready to go in a couple of varying sizes. They also have some of the best donuts and my favorite pastry they have is called a bear claw. That's been a secret guilty pleasure of mine.
