Came here for a sweet treat. This bakery has been here in Atlantic City for years. The store was small with an ambiance that exhibited cozy comfort and tables and chairs for those who wanted to drink coffee and eat their treats. The service was great! There was a sweet lady at the register and we asked about the various cakes that were in the refrigerated case, to which she replied that she baked them. We chose the lemon and vanilla coconut slices. The coconut cake was covered toasted coconut and the layers contained a pineapple filling. The layers were moist and the cake amazing! The lemon cake was not a slice, but a two layer round with lemon cake and filling topped with a lemon mousse. That was amazing as well. They had an assortment of other cakes, cookies, other pastries and bread items. All in all a great place to stop by for a sweet treat while in Atlantic City. read more

Small bakery, not a large selection of anything but cookies. I was told the bread is their staple product, so I believe the bakery items are not made there.....this just doesn't seem like an Italian bakery at all.... We were looking for a bakery you grab some dessert items. Not being familiar with the area, Google and Yelp were my besties for this mission. We found Formica's and drove over. Very limited parking in the area. By the time we parked and knocked on the door, they were closed. However, (not sure if it was the owner), someone motioned to the side door and let us in. It's a small spot with no seating. But, lots of different sweets. Chocolate covered pretzels, cakes, cookies, homemade snowballs. We got an assortment of items and were on our way. Easily my favorite bakery in Atlantic City. The staff is super friendly and all of their baked goods are delicious. Two of my favorites are the elephant ear and the vanilla biscotti. Not super sweet, very light making them both the perfect breakfast snack or dessert. The Apple and strawberry strudels are also a must try. read more

I'm a couple of weeks off on my review. But yes you can see my routine, we were on a mini vacation in AC, and as always Formica's Bakery is our last stop, until we hit the Atlantic City expressway. It's such a great feeling when I walk in and the owners recognize me, and say your up for a visit again, hope it was a nice one. They recommend some of there new baked items, and I shop away. The owners and I laugh every time, I can never leave them without spending $50-$60 worth of bakery goods. Two large brown bags. Each time we say to one another do you think it's less then $50. And we just laugh. What amazing owners, great personalities, and great bakers. They always make me feel like family when I walk in. They always wish me safe travels. I can't wait until my next trip. Nice bakery with a multitude of options, near the boardwalk. We stopped here on our way out of AC and the treats made our drive home a lot more pleasant. We settled on two chocolate muffins for breakfast (just go with it), some chocolate covered pretzels for an afternoon treat, and a vanilla frosted donut. Formica is 5 stars all around. Conveniently located across the street from White House subs Formica is an Atlantic City institution. The Italian pastries are wonderful especially the Cannolis which are stuffed fresh, the cream is perfect and the shells are crunchy as they should be. The fresh Italian bread is outstanding. So many visitors to Atlantic City come to this block to visit White House Subs and miss out on the actual best landmark on the block that is Formica Bros Bakery right across the street. The bakery that creates the bread which is the real star of those famous sandwiches. Everything i have ever gotten from this tiny cafe and bakery is outstanding including the bread, pastries and baked goods and chocolate covered delights as well as their cannolis and tomato pie slices. The tomato pie actually deserves its own sentence to acknowledge how great it is; the bread and crust have a great crunch consistency and chew in all the right places and the sauce is exceptionally well balanced no too sweet and not too tart. just right and rivals any u will find in Philly or South Jersey. I also enjoy and the different sweet bread breakfast loaves and muffins. They also have several cakes that i have never tried but based on all my other experiences would no think twice about getting if need for a special occasion. Lastly I must say they make some of the best non chain store coffees, espressos and lattes i have ever had anywhere in the country and are a must pickup whenever i am driving by and need a quick pick me up for the ride home to PA. The staff is extra friendly and quick to help u pick the best item for your needs. And for such a small store it is incredibly comfortable, clean and well laid out to fit a whole lot of food and a few tables looking out onto Arctic Ave. Love these old authentic independent stores and will always be a visitor as long as we both are around. read more

The selection of various fresh bread gives you a number of choices from the huge sub rolls to mini dinner rolls. With or without sesame seeds, whole wheat or white and semolina bread. I come here a lot and I love to support local businesses. Only thing is a lot of items besides the AC Subs are brought from other bakeries. Formica no longer have a pastry chef. I personally would like to have freshly baked goods in the morning rather than stale ones. Coffee is good depending on who is making them. Formica is just not how they use to be. I asked Formicas Bakery if they could do a pull-apart cup cake for the bachelorette I was hosting. The party was disco/Mamma Mia inspired and they did an amazing job. Communication was very simple and one of the easiest processes. 5 stars is not enough for how TASTY the cupcakes were. Best I've ever had. Ingredients were so fresh and every bite was better than the last. I could tell they spent a lot of time on the cake, preparing ingredients, etc. 10 stars for sure! read more

Service here is first rate. The tomato pie is one of the best, if not the best I have ever had. The crust was out of this world. The tomato blend was balanced and full of flavor. I've been coming to this bakery for almost 20 years now. I stopped in one day and got hooked on their tomatoes pie. If there's a better one out there that's made, I haven't come across it yet. Everything made here is fresh and very good. The rolls and macaroons here are great. I recently found a bakery in Philly that makes a better macaroon. But that doesn't take anything away from the fact that I would drive an hour to Formica's for the ones they make. Can't wait to stop in on my next trip to AC. . Delicious, chewy, sesame coated Italian bread that stands up to great cheese. We stopped in here and got a couple of loaves and two muffins. My husband met the owner who is third generation whose family has over 100 years in the business. Their bread tastes like they know what they are doing. Muffins are sweet and cake-y, not bread-y. Searching for non- Starbucks coffee in Atlantic City, I found this place through yelp. The make delicious fresh bread, serve Seattle's best coffee and have an array of desserts and pastries. I had the banana nut cake which was moist and delicious! I also tried the fruit bar which was excellent! It's a mix of a blonde brownie and a soft granola on top! Surprisingly good! They also serve these round rolls that people were eating with cream cheese/ I didn't have one, but since everyone in the place was stuffing their face- they must be good! Support your local owners! On the way to have a Casino weekend I remembered this bakery off the beaten path. It's a very cute bakery with all the essentials which includes, Italian baked goods and espresso, cappuccinos and coffee. I noticed they had some chocolate covered strawberries and I got hubby a nice personal sized strawberry & chocolate cheesecake. It smelled great here and the lady behind the counter was really nice. I noticed they had "chocolate bombs" which are chocolate balls filled with marshmallows. You heat up milk,pour it over and you have a cup of hot chocolate! It's a great idea to get as gifts! The cheesecake was very tasty without giving off a nasty after taste. Hubby loved it! The strawberries were huge and the chocolate covered them perfectly and was nice and rich. They pretty much just sell bread and coffee (so don't expect any egg muffins or anything), but the bread is fresh and delicious! I liked the asiago cheese, cranberry walnut (liked the walnuts!), and the bread that White House uses. We ate in and got some to go for the bus back to NYC...mmmm! read more
