The minute clinic is located inside CVS and it employs a nurse practitioner. She is thorough and spends a lot of time with patients. There is usually no line. And the cost is far less than comparable clinics down the street which run around $250. The cost for visiting the Minute Clinic is around $70 and the nurse will call in any prescriptions for you. Note that you must sign in at least 15 minutes prior to close or they will not accept you. Also, the Minute Clinic desk is not located at the pharmacy. read more

After a visit 10/22/23 that went swell (validated my health dilemma - swollen glands, sore throat, URI - and prescribed antibiotic). Sadly, I believe the Amoxicillan while high in dosage was not prescribed for a long enough time frame at only 5 days. SO... I returned b/c the issue had not resolved and had evolved into a slight lower lung rattle - which I feel but is likely not audible. Despite having LOST MY VOICE COMPLETELY for 15 days, I labored to explain what was going on. Like others at my school -- I tested negative for strep, but need a 2nd round of antibiotics to resolve the issue. In the middle of explaining, in walks some other person. She did not introduce herself but wore a white lab coat. She made me repeat everything that was just said, although I suspect she had been LISTENING in based soley on her timing to enter. THEN, she says MINUTE CLINIC does not TREAT ppl MY age (OVER 50), with a chronic cough b/c of the risk of pneumonia. Instead of just prescribing another ANTIBIOTIC, they believed they needed to rule out pneumonia and rx I go to Urgent Care, then told me where the nearest one was located. On top of that, they went on to say I needed an xray, which others at my school paid to have done and it was negative for pneumonia. So no matter what I do now, it will cost upwards of several hundreds more dollars to get well and take another 2 weeks. AS it is, my last visit cost $53 dollars WITH insurance and all they did was a strep test.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Teacher salary does not afford this kind of cost for health care. Such a COMPLETE WASTE of time. AND to be told in person that chronic coughs will not be treated for ppl my age is absolutely unacceptable. That should be explained somewhere in the 35 pages of information we read just to schedule the appointment. I could have spent my time and money AT URGENT CARE instead. This was not proper care and treatment of my illness the first go round. And I returned to give MC the chance to rectify and I was turned away. I now believed b/c of improper treatment at the onset, I have developed pneumonia. DON'T go here for anything serious or you will pay for treatment and test but not actually recover, and then there is no recourse but more pain and suffering. Shame on this place. read more

This is a negative review, so I will place my name right at the top. I am Dan Sweet, and this is solely my experience at a CVS Minute Clinic in Belle Haven, a suburb of Alexandria, VA. I do not know what level of service other patients receive, or if other locations provide better service. Zero stars are not an option, so I grudgingly give them one. I made an appointment online for a Sunday morning visit. As requested when I made the appointment, I arrived 15 minutes early. Due to the pandemic and social distancing, the app told me I should wait in the parking lot and not come in until I was called. The app showed my wait time counting down to zero, where it held for about 5 minutes. Then it jumped back up to 15 minutes, and it showed others in line, including one person who had "registered." I finally got tired of waiting and went inside. The person seeing patients was with another person, so the door was closed. I started to check in on the computer, but I didn't realize my registration code was in an early text message. Nothing in the app or online had told me I would need to register, so I didn't think to look for it. When the attendant (no idea what her medical education is) came out, she did not introduce herself, but asked if I was NAME. I confirmed I was, and she asked if I had registered yet. I told her that the app told me not to come in until I was called, and I didn't know I had to register, and I didn't know where my registration code was located. She had the nerve to ask me "Aren't you the Dan I called?" No. No, I wasn't the person she called. I would have understood the process much better HAD she called as the app indicated she would. She told me where the registration code was, and I registered in about five minutes on their computer. The exam for a skin condition was cursory. I told her what I thought it was, which she said it wasn't. She asked a few questions, but never told me what she thought the skin condition was. She seemed more concerned about the occasional cigars I smoke than the skin condition which is on my ankle. She prescribed an anti-fungal cream and I was on my way. Let's be blunt: This system failed miserably. The attendant never called me to come in, and then essentially challenged me when I asked why I wasn't called. I have ZERO confindence in her diagnosis, and will see my own doctor tomorrow. As far as I'm concerned, I wasted $20 on this "exam" and another $10 for the prescription cream. Before I set foot in another CVS "Minute Clinic", I will waste hundreds of dollars to visit an emergency room instead. read more

i arrived for my tb test reading. i had to have the reading after a specific timeframe and before a specific timeframe and had a scheduled appointment. I was not given a confirmation code therefore i was u able to sign in from the kiosk machine. There was a patient in the office and I was told to wait and I was not on the schedule. upon further review the nurse scheduled me for the right time but the wrong date, outside of the timeframe. i appreciate that I am able to be seen however customer service was poor! read more

I have been to a Minute Clinic before and had an excellent experience (Gainesville, VA) but I was less than impressed at this location. While the LPN was very nice and very professional, the room was clean and the check in was easy, unfortunately they were very, very busy the day we arrived and while I realize that they are not an emergency room nor do they prioritize patients, I think in certain situations it is in the patients best interest to insist they go to the ER than to stay and be evaluated at the clinic first (especially when it is apparent to everyone in the area that this person would be better served in the ER). It's a judgment call, but I think as a professional, she was better suited to make that call and I think she blew it. read more

Had to stop in while on vacation in Alexandria. My son had a swollen gland in his throat. I checked in online so when I arrived I was next up an only waited a few minutes. Cassidy was very thorough and kind. We got a strep test and a prescription for antibiotics and were back to our vacation within half an hour. Cassidy was professional and reassuring. First time at a Minute Clinic but will definitely return to one at home when necessary. read more

My daughter went in on Thursday with a severe sore throat. She was given a rapid strep test which came back negative and a culture was sent to the lab. We were told that if the culture came back positive, we would be notified with 48 hours. Otherwise, she should take Advil for the pain and over the counter allergy medication. We were never contacted again and my daughter's sore throat continued. On Monday, we went to the new Patient First clinic on Fairfax Blvd. My daughter was again tested for strep throat and was found to be positive. She was provided with an anti-biotic and is now improving. My daughter suffered needlessly for 4 days. I have no confidence in the nurses at the minute clinic in Springfield and do not recommend that you go there. read more

At 4:30 on a Sunday I finally decided to take my 5 year old in for ear pain and a headache. We have never been to a Minute Clinic before, but this one is closest to my house. When we arrived I was about half way through the computer registration process when the nurse told us to come in to the exam room when we were done. She gave my son a very thorough exam and asked us both a lot of questions about history and symptoms. She quickly diagnosed an ear infection with possible strep. She immediately put his prescription into the pharmacy at the CVS and answered any questions I had. She was kind, gentle, knowledgeable, and efficient. The pharmacy techs were also very professional and speedy. Our overall experience took no more than 40 minutes and I am very confident in the diagnosis. This is definitely where I will return for any other after hours care. read more

You can't go wrong with the CVS Minute Clinic offering. I was out of town on business with strep throat when I came to the Minute Clinic. The nurse practitioner was extremely helpful and professional. They do a full examination and everything is extremely clean and sterile. Highly recommended if you find yourself sick away from your primary physician. And they take most insurance. read more

More sick than when I went in. Went with a UTI - the nurse practitioner definitely has attitude. Insists on being called Doctor. She wanted to give me 3 days of antibiotics. I told her my history and that I usually get 10 days of antibiotics to knock it out. She grudgingly gave me 5 days worth. It is back worse than ever so I am more ill than when I went in and resistant to the prescribed antibiotics. read more

I've visited this location a few times for sinus and viral infections. Kim Russell (the LPN) is awesome. She checks my vital signs, gives advice and sends prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy for filling. The only downside to this Minute Clinic is that if you don't get there early, you will be waiting for an hour or so. I brought a book with me today to help pass time. This place is a nice option if you can't get to your primary doctor during the week or the weekend. Being located in a CVS store is also a plus, as you can shop for over the counter remedies (among other things) and have your prescription filled all in the same place. read more

This place totally depends on the staff member working. I have been there twice. The first experience was a 5, very competent Nurse. The second visit was a nightmare. The "Nurse" was unbelievably slow, showing absolutely no concern for the ill people waiting on her. I am very patient, but this was outrageous. I ended up waiting for hours, and there werent that many people in front of me. Everyone was frustrated. I ended up falling asleep on the CVS floor using paper towels as a pillow. The guy in front of me felt my pain and said "Mine is simple, I will only be 5 miinutes". 30 minutes later, he wandered out with a sheepish, dazed look on his face. I will go back if need be, because it is convenient for me. But if the Nurse from hell is there, I will just head straight to the liquor store at the other end of the shopping center... read more

The last 3 times I've been to this place, it was quick, easy and convenient. I haven't been here since last winter and boy did things change! I can always tell when I am getting a sinus infection. The last 3 times I've gone here, the nurse listened to me and then prescribed an antibiotic. I know my body and I know what I need. After more than 2 days of feeling ill, I decided to go to the Minute Clinic to try and head the infection off at the pass. I thought it would be quick and easy and I would be out in no time (you know, like before). When I arrived there were 6 people in the system ahead of me. I knew it would take over an hour, but I had no idea how ridiculously long it would actually take. It took more than 3 hours to be seen and then the nurse did not listen to my concerns and did not take my complaints seriously. In fact, she seemed more interested in explaining that her computer kept freezing than she did in treating my sinus infection. The first thing she said to me when I entered the exam room, after waiting almost 3 hours to see her, was that she was overworked. She even said "I need more help, don't you think I need more help. I told my manager that when she was here earlier." All I could think is, why are you complaining about being too busy for 5 minutes - just get the exam underway. I explained my history and asked her to look it up in her computer. She apparently didn't hear me - which is no surprise because she spent almost the entire exam with her back to me complaining about how slow the computer was running. She did eventually diagnose a sinus infection. However, she refused to prescribe an antibiotic, even though my symptoms were identical to the last several times that I have been in. Instead she told me to use a vaporizer, a Neti pot, cough syrup, the generic version of Sudafed (which interacts badly with other medication I am on, which she should have known), and an allergy medication. Only the allergy med was prescription--the rest was over-the-counter. However, she could not explain to me how the antihistamine would assist with my sinus infection. When I questioned why I was not receiving the antibiotic that I had received in the past, I was informed that it wasn't bad enough yet, and to see my regular doctor in ten days. What was the point in seeing her then? Perhaps her poor diagnosis can be explained by the fact that she didn't listen to what I described as my symptoms. I know this because the printout that she gave me afterward included symptoms that I had not mentioned and were factually incorrect (I "had a dry throat") and other symptoms that might have played into a proper diagnosis (sore chest, congestion, sore throat) were omitted. My recommendation, based on this person's apparent knowledge, skill, and predispositions, is to save yourself the money and just buy a bunch of over-the-counter meds that look like they might work, or try a holistic approach, cause that's all she seemed to be interested in doing. Oh, and make sure you bring cash, because when your insurance doesn't pay for her "advice," they will directly bill your credit card for the full amount. All I could think was, I wasted over three hours of my life and $69.00 for this. Needless to say, I will be waiting the usual three hours at my doctor's office in the future. read more
