I scheduled a "TB Test" for myself here. After checking in, the LVN quickly called my name and asked for my ID and insurance card. She asked if I was here for a TB skin test, and I replied, "No, I'm here for a quantiferon." She responds that I am scheduled for a TB skin test and that the quantiferon has to be done by the NP. I tell her there was no differentiation when scheduling myself for the appointment. She begins to condescendingly explain to me that the quantiferon is a blood draw and that it is different than the skin test in several ways. I am well aware of the difference as I am an RN. My issue comes from her negative manner and terrible customer service. I recently visited a CVS minute clinic at a different location the same way and was given zero issues and zero attitude. I was unable to complete the blood draw due to issues pulling up my insurance, and the providers were extremely understanding and kind. This middle aged blonde Karen at this location unnecessarily gave me a difficult time and a huge attitude. I tried to come to this location because it was slightly closer to where I live, but I decided to drive back to the minuteclinic I originally visited. The sheer difference in the providers' attitudes is astonishing. The other clinic was friendly and accommodating vs patronizing and condescending. Came in to minute clinic in MDR, no other customers were there. I was RELIEVED thinking I could get a walk in appointment right away. Doctor was in office on her phone texting so I popped my head in and explained I've been up all night and not feeling well. I asked when she Could she see me. She said no, make an appointment and come back 3 hours later even though she was doing nothing and there were no other patients. I immediately Left there and went to Venice Urgent care right down the street on Lincoln blvd. The cost is less only $99, to see Dr. they saw me right away and had much better Caring attitude. I made an appointment for today. Upon my arrival, they let me know I would have to pay out of pocket & then get reimbursed by my insurance. I have Anthem & they said they were having troubles with their claims, which is why I would have to pay out of pocket. I can't afford to pay out of pocket & get reimbursed later. This is something they should post on their website before people make appointments. I made an appointment, drove over here... only to still be in physical pain. Writing this review to bring attention to one of the techs who work at this location. Roma K. should be looked into. She is extremely unprofessional and rude. She obviously has some sort of anger or mental issues that need to be looked into before she can continue working in this type of job. You know, the job where you help people and care about individuals? She needs to work at the vet if she gonna treat people like dogs. She treated my girlfriend extremely nasty especially. This was the second cvs i came to for my flu shot so i didn't have an appointment. I went to the screen to make one and luckily they had an appointment for 12:10pm. Once i put all my information in and made the appointment, i headed to the bathroom at 12:05pm. Roma K comes out and calls my name. My girlfriend calls me over because she knew i was heading to the bathroom. Roma is already upset and triggered and goes on about how people shouldn't check in and leave. She was sarcastic, unprofessional, and annoyed. Its important to add this is all within 10 seconds of meeting her. My girlfriend is not rude, but kindly stands up for me and says the situation. Roma did not like that and continued to go on about people shouldn't check in and walk away. In front of us she even said a patients real name who she would not take. From this point, i could tell she was an angry person, easily triggered and maybe didn't fully develop as a child. However, i still remained patient because as a normal person with common understanding, i thought she might just being going through something. So i continued the appointment and Koma, my girl friend and me went into room. This is when the tech went over the line and got upset again! Instead of her noticing her fault and being rude (and us obviously uncomfortable) she proceeds to make it worse. I sat on the red chair in the room. It looks like a chair for a guest who comes along with patient. My girlfriend proceeds to ask me if i should sit on the doctor bed instead. I was innocently curious if i should go there and my girl friend too. My girlfriend was not being rude or insulting her work. Koma decides to get mad at her and she tells her something along the lines of - is this your office or mine? - it was so nasty and condescending. It was unnecessary. My girlfriend tried to stand up for herself slightly by saying she was trying to help and asking what is wrong but Koma got more triggered and ending up kicking her out of the room. I have a problem with needles (i get light headed, sometimes even throw up or black out) so it was important my girlfriend stay and help me so it was just unfortunate. Koma is extremely mean and asks my gf what she would even help with or do if something goes wrong. She made my girlfriend feel less than her by commenting on how she could even help - trying to make my girlfriend feel stupid. It was a deliberate act from Koma and she purposely tries to make people feel small. After my gf left the room, she made me so uncomfortable as well. Talking down on my girl and saying "i could be her mom." It's funny because she acts like a child. Overall, I expect maturity, patience, and empathy from nurse techs. While I love CVS, KOMA K. needs to be looked into. She obviously isn't doing well with her work or something in her personal life. read more

Have come to this minute clinic twice and the two times I have visited this clinic the clinic staff including the NP seem lazy and don't take any patients in even the waiting area is empty and they have no patient in rooms. They are rude and unhelpful! I do not recommend getting anything done at this minute clinic, you will be waiting a long time even if you have an appointment. This is a very convenient place to get your vaccinations and take quick tests. Each clinic has a nurse practitioner onsite and you can walk-in. Now the downside for my neighborhood Minute Clinic. One of my recent walk-in, after registering on their kiosk (more on this below), indicated a 240, yes two hundred forty, minute wait. I walked out. I decided to register online the next day, over several hours checking for their average wait times. I made an online schedule when the "Minute" Clinic wait was under 30 minutes. To be fair, if you want shorter waits, you can drive to their other locations, but this one is literally across the street from me. The upright screen on their registration kiosk affords you little privacy and letter-by-letter entries make the entry completions arduous, adding minutes to your Minute Clinic visit. Bottom line, this place is still a faster, convenient alternative to scheduling and making and appointment with your doctor. read more

ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS. It is impossible to reach anyone at the physical location, because they refuse to give out any kind of phone number. I called the 800 number (1 (866) 389-2727) and spoke with a Jonathan with an obvious east coast accent. I told him that I was asking about the HPV vaccine. I told him my age (I'm over 28) and he said that I did not need a prescription and that this location had 14 doses in stock, it was $250, and I should go ahead and make an appointment. I should note that their website also states this: "Our practitioners can provide this vaccine to patients between the ages of 9 and 45." I am under the age of 45. This practitioner outright refused me the vaccine, because I was over 28. I explained to her about my phone call with Jonathan, and she looked up at me smiling and said, "They give out wrong information all the time." She then walked me over to the pharmacy, as she said they could do it. However, the pharmacy did not have it in stock (and they also charge a lot more). The MinuteClinic absolutely had it in stock, but she refused to give it to me. Utterly disgraceful. This is the worst possible customer service. Cherry on top - I received an email stating that my appointment had been "cancelled." Do not go here. read more

I wish I could give lower than a 1. I've not seen such incompetence and disregard for people in a long time. Here's what happened: I needed to get a shingles vaccine. I made an appointment online for the next day. However, I'd heard that there was a shortage of the vaccine and that, if they did have the vaccine on hand, they were saving it for the patients' second doses (you need two doses of the vaccine within 6 months). I called the clinic which automatically connected me to a national number. I asked the rep if my clinic had enough doses of the vaccine on hand. She said to check the morning of my appointment and I could find out how many of them they start the day with. I called the next day and it turns out they had 10 doses on hand. My appointment was late morning. I asked if I could speak to my local clinic to reserve one and she said no, it's not their policy to connect patients to the actual clinic to which they are going. I also asked if they were still holding doses for patients 2nd vaccine. She said no, they were only doing that during the shortage. I asked that if I get there and there's only 1 dose left, do I get it. She said absolutely yes. So I get there and guess what? The nurse practitioner said she had the vaccine but was SAVING THEM FOR PEOPLE'S SECOND DOSES! I told her about my conversation with the national number and she said YOU SHOULD HAVE RESERVED ONE. I said, HOW COULD I RESERVE ONE WHEN THEY REFUSED TO CONNECT ME TO THE LOCAL CLININC? Never going back there, ever. Also I opened a case with them and demanded that the regional manager for the clinic call me with an explanation for how this happened. We'll see if I get that call. read more

Refused to examine,diagnose and treat the most common parasitic infection in America!!!! Told me I had to go to a different clinic WTF?! You can buy the human deworming medicines over the counter in other countries. So I bought the dog version available on the CVS shelf and then drank it in front of clinic and pharmacy staff shaming their corporate system for not treating a very sick patient with one simple salt pill (non-narcotic). 100% better the next morning - no fever, aches, lethargy and appetite returned. Maybe if it was OxyContin I'd of got better service given the profit margins. I'm sure our President will fix this problem- lol read more

Wow. What a great a idea right? Not when you end up waiting for over an hour. The practitioner was 40 minutes late. The clinic should be open at 10am and there were three of us waiting in line. She didn't greet us when she laxidazily waltzed through the door. I was the first in line. She took me in. Had horrible customer service. I've had a bad cough with some blood in my phlegm. But other than that I was fine. I had done some travel via air which could attributed to the blood. She barely made eye contact. She didn't even hear my lungs. She sent me to an urgent care facility and when I told her I couldn't afford to do that and I asked for an alternative. She didn't have an answer for me. read more

I had to get a TB skin test for a new job. I phoned several "urgent care" centers and their prices ranged from $150-200. That's a lot for a skin test! Then I found the Minute Clinic. Their test was $39. I was seen right away and the NP (Lingman Leung) was very friendly and skilled. She placed the test and wrote down for me the time frame I needed to return to get it read, including the exact times. She filled out the form provided by my future employer, and also a second generic form just in case I needed it in the near future for another employer, so I wouldn't have to go through it again. My husband, 2 year old toddler and I went to the Minute Clinic located at the CVS in Marina Del Rey to get flu shots. The entire experience was terrible due to the following: 1. We waited approximately 1 hour to be seen by the NP. There were only 3 other people in front of us. The NP did NOT seemed to be concerned with efficiency and timeliness. 2. When it was finally our turn, it took her about 30 minutes to collect our insurance information. Watching the NP hunt and peck for the letters on the keyboard to enter in our personal information into the computer was extremely frustrating. She also asked me the same question three times. 3. The NP did not exercise any care when it came time to give my 2 year old toddler the flu shot. Rather than ask me for assistance to position my daughter to give her shot, she grabbed and twisted my daughter's arm. She also caused my daughter to bleed profusely when she administered the flu shot -- the NP had to stop the bleeding with gauze and pressure. That didn't happen with either me nor my husband. My daughter now has a very large painful lump in the area where the flu shot was administered. I think the idea of the Minute Clinic is great -- especially for people who do not have health insurance but are in need of basic health care. However, I did not have any confidence in the NP (Kathy Choice). Minute Clinic needs to hire some competent people. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Victoria Hirst- Literally the most unprofessional practitioner I have ever encountered. Should be Victoria Worst!! Kept me waiting 30 mins. Then proceeds to tell me that the medication I have taken for 10 years is not correct and then sniggers and makes 5 separate phone calls to someone then goes on a ramble.. I explained why I take it, how long I've taken it and then she eventually agrees to prescribe it for a 21 day supply then I leave her office, wait for the prescription to be filled and she changes it to a 14 day supply without coming out of her office to tell me why. Pharmacists thought so as well and said they have constant complaints from other people in regards to her level of care. I found it to be totally unprofessional and frankly rude. Avoid at all costs. Get vaccines in a pharmacy sounds like a convenient way to go. I imagined standing in line and someone stamping shots into the arms of people. The fantasy got the better of me, imagining that it would be an in and out in five minutes, while grabbing something else in the store. Plus, the cost of the whole service was about the same as my co-pay had I gone to a doctor. The reality was sitting in a cramped area with a ton of people. The prices for all services were not even published. I waited worrying about what kind of diseases the people around me carried. It took an hour and a half. They were out of one off the vaccines that I wanted. The nurse practitioner was friendly and fast though. Next time, I will go with a regular doctor again. Maybe, I'll go in network or call around. Calling 10 doctors in the phone book for a quote tends to have one doctor that provides the particular service at a very reasonable rate (, if you don't need an exam and already know, what you want.) read more

I don't know about you but when I get sick, I get super emotional and morbid. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac that way but instead of going to the doctor 24/7, I tend to avoid the doc all together and just pledge allegiance with denial. When I recently woke up to find my right ear feeling plugged up and my hearing impaired, I did the thing you should NOT do and Web MD'ed my symptoms. Click, click on the keyboard and onto the screen comes "ear infection; if left untreated could cause permanent hearing loss." That was enough for me to haul ass to Minute Clinic and get it checked out. The place was poppin' - I'm talking a line longer than you'd see outside Father's Office on a Thursday night. Anyway, I saw Dr. Leung and she was the sweetest lady. In all fairness, the doctors you see are not full-fledged doctors but nurse practitioners and physicians aides - perfectly able to handle most minor injuries. Dr. Leung had a great sense of humor and told me that there was nothing to worry about {much appreciated in my vulnerable state}. She also gave me a bunch of free sample-sized ear drops so I wouldn't have to spend a lot of money. I went back a few days later for a second check-up at no additional cost and my ear is back to normal. They also offer other services like flu shots, physicals, and diagnostic testing. There's nothing like the downs to appreciate the ups but if you're down with a cold or weird ear thing, come see them. read more

I'm very happy with my experience at the MDR CVS Minute Clinic. I went there today for the first time. I got there early and was first in line, so I didn't have to wait for long. The check-in process is very easy. The nurse who saw me was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and very efficient. I felt very confident that she knew what she was doing. This is a very convenient place to go if you need care on a Sunday or need care in the Marina area. I highly recommend it. read more

i had the worst experience here (love cvs but costumer service wise) i went to minute clinic with my boyfriend since he had to get his flu shot. keep in mind, he has problem with needles. he gets really light headed and sometimes even throws up. Roma K has zero empathy for people and she should genuinely lose her job or find a new career path. if you could, i would go to the other tech instead. she was extremely nice to me. her name is Nikita. however, for Roma, she is extremely nasty. i explained i have to stay in the room because of his problem with needles and she basically called me stupid by saying "and what could you do for him?". if CVS minute clinic can look into her, i bet she's done this to more than once because she was already sour before i talked to her even once. also, my boyfriend says after i left the room she started to talk bad about me saying she could be my mom etc. he said he felt extremely uncomfortable and it was just SO unprofessional. read more

This Minute Clinic was very convenient. I went with my girlfriend (she's terrified of needles) to get a flu shot & TB test. Our Nurse (Susan) was sweet as pie, and allowed me to accompany my GF in the room. Nurse Susan was very professional and made everything feel more than comfortable. Both my girlfriend and I felt that visiting Susan was like visiting one of our mothers. At the end, she gave my GF a huge free bottle of hand sanitizer!!! she was awesome! On the west coast for travel and had been suffering from flu/cold before I left. After a few days I couldn't take iT anymore so decided to go to the walk in clinic. Based on reviews I was gonna try a different place but it wasn't open till 9am and I had already been awake since 4. This is located inside a CVS which was welcome as I don't know the area. Got there at 8:10am. First patient. Easy check in system. Nurse gave me a full once over. Put my mind at ease and gave me a few scrips. Felt like I was home. Friendly, clear, helpful and gave me as much time as I needed. I could pick up the prescription at this CVS or any any drugstore. Not sure what else you can ask for?? read more

I felt that she really listened to me and didn't just want to "prescribe" something. She also has a very caring nature, which I surprisingly do not see a lot of in the healthcare industry. I came into this Minute Clinic this past Thursday due to a really bad cold. I was just away on a business trip and have a sinus infection, soar throat, fever, achy muscles and joints, my left ear has been closed ever since the plane descended, feeling dizzy, and was starting to spit out green brown phlegm. Thursday morning I visited Nurse Practitioner Sandy Wang at the Minute Clinic in Mains Del Rey. I told her everything as mentioned above and she tested me for Influenza A and B strands, which came up negative. I also told her I had my flu shot from this minute clinic in Marina Del Rey last autumn. I asked her for an antibiotic and she refused. I don't regularly ask for antibiotics as I know they won't help against flu. I told her that I am not able to keep the fever down for the 6 hour Advil dosage, and I told her that I have been taking the Advil every 4 hours. That was why I was there to get the proper medicine. She told me not to do that and only take it as directed. I said to her, I have been getting fever and the chills in much under the 6 hour dosage and I still can't hear out of my left ear. Also, as the Advil wears off, I have been getting headaches behind my eyes. She says if it continues or gets worse to come back in. I told her we are leaving the country next Thursday and I can't afford to be sick. All she wrote was an RX for Atrovent nasal spray. I told her I have no problems breathing through my nose, and this was sinus related. After feeling that miserable, I immediately made a last minute appointment with my real doctor, who confirmed all my symptoms and wrote me a prescription for the appropriate antibiotic That evening after my visit with Nurse Wang I had the chills so bad I could barely sleep. I felt so horrible the next morning that I took my first sick day in 7 years. By the time I took the third dose of the antibiotics prescribed by my doctor, my fever broke. I am down to 1 dose of Advil for discomfort only and not fever. If I was prescribed the proper medicine on Thursday morning, I probably would have made it into work Friday. I believe Nurse Practitioner Sandy Wang should have her license revoked. When I read her report after my visit, I also noticed there were many questions that were answered that I was never asked nor provided answers for. Sandy Wang just kept clicking away at her computer and not focusing on her patient in front of her. She made me feel like I was a child by insulting me and offering to write me a little doctor's note as to why I am missing work. As a result, I will never be back into a Minute Clinic for any illness! If I could give 0 stars for Nurse Practitioner Sandy Wang I would. I have been to this Minute Clinic before many times and usually receive good and accurate service. However, this was so bad, I am not sure I will be back. I would stay away from this place if she is on duty! What a waste of time and money! At the very least she should be fired!!! read more

I felt disrespected and unhealed by my situation. They actually said. I have been to the minute clinics in both Santa Monica and West Hollywood before coming here and had great experiences. Quick, fast, efficient. Marina Del Rey? Oh wow, a whole other experience. My first visit I had an appointment but waited over 90 minutes! I had to come back three days later to have my TB test read- the nurse who gave me the test booked me an appointment to come back- I show up, and they are taking all the walk ins first (the wait list is public so I can see it). I don't get it. I even told them verbally I was here. Baffling. And a Tb test read literally takes 9 seconds. :( Go to the Santa Monica one instead. read more

The experience was great and convenient but I felt like I was cheated because the doctor clearly searched up and told me that my insurance covered the vaccine I was getting, yet a few months later I received mail saying that I had to pay up. Turns out that my insurance doesn't cover the vaccine at all and I still have to pay because of the legal fine print. She also said she did not have the papers for the physical, and I should have brought them. Said she could print them off the MTA website. I just left and went to patient first. The practitioner I dealt with this evening may be the best flu shot shooter on the west side but dealing with anything more complicated then that is definitely beyond what they teach at ITT Tech. I dropped in because my last experience there was a good one. A first class flu shot. But this time it was a little more complicated. Sometimes when I catch a bad cold it leads to middle ear infections which can be cleared up very quickly with a script of Keflex. But, I lucked out with a practitioner who has been watching way too much "House". She wanted to treat me for a much more complicated set of symptoms than my ears problem and when she contacted her real doctor adviser and asked him if she could proceed with her treatment plan he told her no. I think she may have been somehow disappointed because when I asked her if now I could just get the script for Keflex and go home she told me no. She let me know that I had a bad attitude and she didn't have to give me antibiotics if she didn't feel like it. Wow. The power to keep someone from getting well. Avoid this clinic if you need anything more complicated than a shot. They really don't understand how to deal with people who aren't feeling well.. I went to the Minute Clinic on Monday when I wasn't feeling well. I saw Nurse practitioner Sandy Wang. She made me feel so comfortable and took such good care of me. She and another nurse Amy both called me to discuss my test results and were thorough and very nice. I have to say that if you are going to be sick, it's a great place to go to have someone really care about making you feel better. Consumers beware: Minute Clinic is not a good alternative to seeing your doctor. I have never taken the time to write a bad review about a business ever; I've written a few good ones for businesses that I thought were overwhelmingly awesome, but never have been so upset with an experience to take the time to review a bad one. Unfortunately, I've had such a bad experience at the Minute Clinic, that I'm willing to spend the time to review their incompetency. I recently chose to go to this clinic rather than my regular doctor because I had the symptoms of what I thought was strep throat and was swamped with work. I couldn't afford to take the time out of my work day to go to an appointment during the times during which my doctor had openings. I had heard about the Minute Clinic and I figured it would be a nurse practitioner, but that's no big deal to me. I arrived and promptly got in. The nurse practitioner checked me out. She was super nice and asked about symptoms. I told her I thought it was strep, or maybe a sinus infection that had traveled, but of course, I'm not a doctor. She did a strep test then and there and it came out negative. She said she couldn't prescribe an antibiotic without knowing what it was. She described that there were many things it could be including some other bacterial infection. I understand that if it's viral, I just have to stick it out. She asks me if I would like to send a culture to the lab and they can test it. Of course, I agree. I need to figure out if it's bacterial. She says it can take up to three days. A day has passed and I miss a call for the clinic (they don't leave a message). I'm stoked that I don't have to wait three days as anticipated. I call them back and the person on the phone tells me the lab results have come back negative for strep. I said, "I know. We already did a strep test. I'm waiting to hear from the lab whether it's another type of bacterial infection." The woman tells me that the nurse practitioner sent only for a strep test. She sent a culture to the lab for another strep test. What?! Why?! The first test came back negative; I didn't need another strep test. After the nurse practitioner discussed with me that it could be another type of bacteria and then asked if I wanted to send a culture off to a lab, she failed to mention that she was offering a re-test for the strep. And, why wouldn't she check for other things? Just because I came in thinking it could be strep doesn't mean I am ruling out other things. I am not the professional, and clearly neither was she, as she didn't test for other possibilities. When I expressed to the woman on the phone who went over my lab results with me about this incompetency, she said their policy says that you should see your doctor if health issues do not subside. Of course they haven't subsided; the clinic didn't even try to adequately figure out what was wrong except for strep throat. Furthermore, when I asked to speak to a higher up individual about resolving the problem as in a refund for one of the strep tests and a refund for the visit since I would now have to start over, the woman said it could take up to ten days for the correct party to return my call....bad customer service. It is now Sunday, and thankfully, I can get to my doctor this week. But, I have now paid for inadequate services plus two strep tests rather than one. Now, I get to pay my doctor for a new office visit. I would advise anyone considering these services to wait and go to a real clinic. I've been seen by nurse practitioners before, and they are usually great. In the end, urgent care would have been just a small amount more, so that is also a better option if you can't wait to see your doctor. After the bad experience, I read some of the reviews. Some mention poor expectations of a clinic? A clinic is a place where medical professions can treat patients, other than patients who need hospital care or inpatient services. A clinic can properly ask for lab tests. I see my doctor at a clinic. If CVS believes people have poor expectations of a "clinic," I think they should look at the definition and then change their business' name to not depict a place such as a clinic as it is definitely inadequate. read more
