I visited the Vanderbilt walk in clinic near my home on Sunday morning with a fever of 102.4 (I…read moreNEVER run fevers). I had a horrible headache & my throat felt like it was on fire! I also noticed an unusual sharp pain in my lower left abdomen that seemed to appear at the same time the other symptoms started. I knew something was wrong, hence the reason I chose Vandy walk-in-clinic. I have insurance & was charged $100.00 even though my Insurance card said "Co-Pay $25 Urgent Care" 1st Red Flag! The MA that took my vitals had a bad attitude & acted like I was a bother to her bc she had to work on a Sunday morning. They did a quick urinalysis. When the female PA entered the exam room, she had very little eye contact & asked the same questions the MA had just asked me! The PA had her face in her laptop, typing, for the majority of the appt. I explained that my throat hasn't hurt like this since I got my tonsils out as a young child & It prevented me from sleeping, hurt to eat, drink & even swallow. I mentioned my headache being pretty bad & thought maybe it was due to my unusual fever & BP being elevated from the pain. I purposely pointed out my lymph nodes near my throat felt swollen hoping she would check for infection. She quickly shined a light in my throat & checked my ears. She did NOT feel for swollen lymph nodes. She did however examine the pain in my lower left abdomen & asked if I had a recent colonoscopy! (Yes, I actually just had one 2 months ago!) The hands on, "physical exam" was very quick & very limited! She sat back down in front of her laptop & to my surprise said, if you hadn't just had a colonoscopy, I would suspect diverticulitis! Your urine was perfectly clean, no sign of a kidney infection etc. Even more disturbing.. she said she recommends me going directly to the ER & having a CT of my head done to rule out a possible Brain bleed!! (I chose a walk-in clinic so that I could avoid sitting in an ER for hours). She said she could have a blood test done there at the clinic BUT the results would take longer to come back & the ER would get them back immediately! I asked how MUCH longer for the results if I got the blood test done while I was right then & there? she said "oh, not until tomorrow & I'm not working tomorrow!!" (wait, WHAT? So, she's the ONLY medical professional at the Vandy clinic that can read a blood test result??). I left that office feeling less than impressed & surely didn't feel ANY relief as to why I was running a fever, throat on fire & a pounding headache! After thinking about it all evening, I called the Vandy clinic the next morning & expressed my frustration with the medical staff during my visit the prior morning & they suggested I come back in. When I checked in, the gentleman asked for my insurance card & without hesitation said, that will be $25. I explained I had just been charged $100 the morning before & he pointed to my card & said, no, it says right here.. "Urgent Care Co-pay $25" The individual at check in the day before just didn't take the time to READ! Infuriating! The MA & PA that I saw on Monday were 100% better & the PA immediately ran a Strep test & a Covid test & explained EVERYTHING to me. I waited the few minutes for the test results & he came back in with the results of my test that I did not have strep throat but indeed, did have the new strain of Covid "razor-blade strain", which explained my throat hurting so bad! This explained the fever, the headache etc. He was kind, professional & direct. I am so glad I called & went back in the following day & left with a diagnosis.

She's only 19, she came her to be seen regarding a lump in one of her breast. This treatment is why some people don't seek care. I asked the front desk for help to see what was the delay, neither of the 3 women sitting there budged, one said that they're behind. There have been people who came in after us and have been seen and left. This is insane!! I wish I could rate this a zero!!

A previous doctor over prescribed an oral antacid leaving me with no ability to utilize vitamin B12 in the normal way. They prescribed a placebo or a lower dosage or a lower quality product and then refused to prescribe any of it again for no reason as it is a water soluble vitamin leaving me in horrific neuropathic pain. I will now be forced to order it online at great expense for absolutely no reason other than their desire to gatekeep healthcare. In fact they seem to find my pain hilarious. Literally laughing at me as I left in utter terror and hopelessness. I have to have this to survive. I have no choice of if I choose to remain employed and functional. I felt like they were accusing me of lying when I was not lying. Because of their dishonesty I missed several important deadlines that have affected my life in permanent and detrimental ways. Now the nurse or whatever she is (Annie? Sp?) has called me at my private residence and argued with me, interrupting me SEVERAL times to tell me that I don't know what's going on with my own body when I do and that my levels are too high when any search of the Internet would show that they are supposed to be and for someone with my condition this is completely normal. TOTALLY UNABLE TO LISTEN, BE RESPECTFUL OR KIND AND DEEPLY ARROGANT. The conversation showed that she not only didn't read my chart, she did not confer with her colleagues who knew my history or understand the issue at hand AT ALL while professing to be able to implying I must be some kind of an idiot. At this point if I could rate NEGATIVE five stars I would. Pretty sure if you actually want to die, this is where you should go and you should definitely see Annie.

I'm sitting in a parking lot waiting for my prescriptions and decided to review immediately because this office was just that great! I was a walk in client and still got in very quickly. They were up front with pricing so I knew exactly what the cost was to me before being called back. They were able to give me x-rays and a breathing treatment on the spot, and gave me treatment options without being pushy and without it seeming like they were getting money from a pharmaceutical company for selling certain brands. The doctor was willing to discuss my concerns about the prescriptions and never made me feel like I was annoying or out of line. He even printed coupons for my prescriptions when I asked about lowest cost pharmacies. I'm very happy with my experience here, and will likely return for primary care needs.

I finally had to tell him that I graduated from Vanderbilt and this is not normal diarrhea and the cramping is not the type of pain that I am used to when I do have diarrhea. I asked if they did testing for cyclosporiasis and he said he did not know what it was. I paid 130 dollars for him to try and scoot me out of the door with some imodium before ever listening to what issues I had, what food I had eaten or anything. I had to tell him that when I had appendicitis the cramping was far worse than this but this cramping pain is definitely not something I experience regularly. He brushed it off and said I should try the health department. He wrote me a prescription for antibiotics. I won't take them until I can get tested for the parasite.

The Doctor proceeds to tell me "We don't write presriciptions for antibiotics, We only give out antibiotics if you have Pneumonia, Brocnhitis or strep". Any idiot knows you're supposed to take antibiotics so you don't get the aforementioned. Big Surprise I would need to take X-Rays and series of other unnecessary expensive tests. This is my 3rd experience with Vanderbilt acting in an unethical money grabbing manner. I did get a second and third opinion as I had never heard anything so stupid. A proper reputable medical professional who gave me the prescriptions I needed was appalled at was a told by the clowns at Vanderbilt and confirmed they were just scamming me to spend money. Vanderbilt = Money over peoples health. I do have an onset of Pneumonia and Vanderbilt was not willing to help until I was sick rather than treating the infection I already have to prevent it from escalating. Unbelievable. I'm sure they will send my insurance company a $400.00 bill. I won't get into the details here, but I had the same experience attempting to secure a primary care provider at Vanderbilt. I went in healthy simply to meet the doctor and was coerced into spending money on tests I didn't need. I told them I had just had that panel of blood work done and knew I was not in any danger. After tests came up confirming this, they still tried to blow smoke up my rear end and convince me that I needed their help and monitoring. Everything they told me was out of alignment with the medical specialist I was seeing and in fact not scientifically sound. Stay away from these facilities . The most overrate name in medical! I'm sure government and Pharma funded judging by the amount of misinformation, fear mongering and bullying.
