I drove all the way there to get there when they opened only to be told they don't take kids under 2. I politely asked if there was a way she could give feedback to the company to update their website as their website does not say that anywhere. She looks straight at me and just says, "no". So either this company doesn't care enough about its employees to actually take feedback (red flag) or its employees don't care enough about the community they're supposed to serve (also red flag). It's not that hard to update your website to let people know that you DON'T in fact do pediatric care for all kids.

The site confirmed my appointment for 2pm today and I was all prepared to see a doctor. I filled in all the details of my insurance beforehand so if there was a problem with my insurance, I thought I would be alerted before coming. However, when I arrived and checked in I was told that my insurance is not accepted there. I was flabbergasted because what is the point of having your insurance go through online if it will just be rejected when you show up in person? Why did nobody from the office call me beforehand to let me know my insurance wasn't accepted? Why did the website let me proceed if they don't take Horizon? It's truly disgusting to give someone an appointment, tell them to come in, and then deny them care when they show up. I took off work to see a doctor today. CityLife should be ashamed of this practice. I would like to speak with someone from the management side of the clinic about this issue. Based on the other reviews, I'm sure the care they offer inside is fine, but to have people show up and turn them away is truly a sick thing to do. I also don't understand why they don't accept Horizon, which is the insurance plan city workers in Newark are all on. We bargain hard for our healthcare and to have a clinic located in Newark that doesn't take the plan of thousands of Newark's hard working public workers is loathsome.

I was able to make a last minute appointment same-day which was truly clutch as other travel docs had nothing available for days. (Shame on me for waiting until the last second!) The building was relatively easy to find and the elevator took me nearly right to the front door of their suite. The waiting room has chairs spaced apart (likely still from COVID precautions) and was appreciated. Check-in was quite easy (a quick form on an iPad and a few questions on paper about the specific visit) though the front desk worker overcharged me. I sat in the waiting room for about 5 min past the scheduled appointment time but was called in right after which was refreshing as I know doctors often get backed up by the end of the day. The doctor himself was absolutely lovely! I mentioned where I was traveling and he was incredibly thorough with questions and determined I didn't need the yellow fever vaccine based on where I was going. He did prescribe a Z-Pak which was incredibly appreciated as I know others who did the same trip recommended it. He also had the front desk employee refund the overcharged amount. Overall I would recommend this place for anyone who needs a travel doctor and will absolutely be back ahead of my next trip!

I visited for a yellow fever vaccine, which involves a subcutaneous injection (administered into the fatty tissue beneath the skin). The injection site seemed a bit unusual (please see the attached picture), and later became inflamed, red, and swollen. I am planning to travel to Africa soon, and the doctor mentioned he would prescribe medication for traveler's diarrhea. However, when I went to the pharmacy, they gave me a prescription for malaria (something we had not discussed) and did not receive the Z-Pak prescription for traveler's diarrhea from the doctor's office. I had to return to the pharmacy the next day since they were closing.

I went to AFC urgent care in lyndhurst.  What a waste of money! I wish I could get a refund for my $75 copay.  I clearly discussed my symptoms with the doctor.  I had a cough, fever, aches in my thighs, and I explained the crackling sounds when I lay down. I also told her that 10+ years ago I had bronchitis and another time I had a pneumonia.  Using the stethoscope she reassured me that my lungs were clear. (No xray) She said I had allergies and prescribed an allergy medication. After that visit I did not feel any better. In fact I felt worse. Two days later I went to my primary physician and he immediately heard the rattling sounds in my lungs and detected a pneumonia and sent me for Xrays. I got my results and my primary physician was right. He prescribed antibiotics, prednisone, and a cough medicine. Misdiagnosing a patient is unacceptable. I am not happy with AFC. I want a refund!
