He is very knowledgeable and up to date on treatment of Rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. I was quite ill when I was referred to Dr. Vallance by my primary care physician. Within the first visit, he knew what was wrong with me and began treatment. He is very caring man who gives you all the time you need. He has that "we are a team " approach to treatment and not only is very knowledgeable in medication but has a great way of suggesting integrated approaches. This man is very kind and patient and I feel extremely lucky to have such a wonderful doctor. His nurse practitioner, Chris is jut like him. She is knowledgeable and kind. Normally as a new patient there is about a 6 month waiting list. This is not uncommon for a leading provider and also depends on the specialty. Let him know I was irritated and said he was just running a little behind schedule. I had to help him locate my radial pulse that was a first. He seemed pretty smart and is supposedly a guru of Rheumatology. He was kind and professional gave me the answer I expected but didn't want to hear which is better than the other rheumatologist at another facility who was useless. This is my second time to visit Dr. Pevzner for pain in my wrist and trigger fingers…read more Prior to Dr. Pevzner, I consulted three other doctors. Most of them suggest that I get cortisone shots. I asked acquaintances about their experience. They say the shot was effective once or twice, but after that the doctors will be suggesting surgery. Since I'm not into the idea of the cortisone shots or surgery, I'm glad that my husband was able to find good online reviews of the Oakland Arthritis Center, especially of Dr. Pevzner. He prescribed me an alternative of taking a medicine, instead of getting shots or surgery. The receptionist was very friendly. She would ask for your id and insurance card. By the way, you need to have an appointment. As a new patient, I had to wait 3-4 months for the first check-up. But after that, you may call the center for the soonest available date. It took me another month to go back for follow-up. The doctor asked about the progress of me taking the prescribed medicine. When I went to Sam's Club to pick up the bottle, I was surprised that it only cost me $4 for thirty pieces of the anti-inflammation meds. The swelling and pain subsided. The treatment and having a healthy diet worked for me. I like the convenience of having my x-Ray, blood extraction, consultation and payment at this Center. They are very patient friendly. For extra service, the receptionist will instruct and give you a password to check results online on their website. I had a pleasant experience from the reception, the nurse and the rheumatology specialist/doctor. The only drawback would be spending $175 for new patient consultation (without insurance). My insurance covered only $55. Regardless, I feel less and less pain.
