Although it is open 7 days a week, there are less than 30 stores, and in my opinion, only one restaurant that looks worthy of dining at. All shops and restaurants are located underneath UMR between Broadway and 1st Ave., and is within walking distance of Mayo Clinic and a few other neighboring hotels. I'm not clear on where the parking area is, however, parking is free at night and on weekends. Check this place out anyway. Your opinion might differ.

However; I also love coming randomly throughout the year to get updated clothing items. I typically like to check out under Armour and Nike, the Columbia store also has a separate outlet location as well. Recently, I feel like prices haven't been nearly as good as they used to, but in this economy, who can blame them. I would love to see a little bit more variation in the food court, it's mostly Asian cuisines and Cinnabon. All delicious but would love to see some more options. There's a ton of parking, but if you come on a busy weekend, you may not notice and still have to park far away. Bummed to see some recent retailers, leaving, they've been replaced with stores that my opinion were is great. Overall, a decent shopping trip, it's also in a great location. There's plenty of other stores/eating nearby. I recommend checking out the Twin Cities premium outlets if you haven't been there before.

I am also from California, and a bigger city than them (Los Angeles, while they are from Sacramento which has a population of barely 500k while LA has almost 4 million, so it's pretty hilarious to see a small town guy talking like some big city bigshot), and I can tell you aside maybe two in all of California, the malls were dead - like completely dead - since around 2010. Big, small, doesn't matter, not only WERE they dead, they are STILL dead, the pandemic didn't even cause it, the insane levels of crime surrounding shopping centers and malls, along with the unbelievable prices of things in the state, did. Oakwood mall, however, is a really great place to go. It feels like the 90s again, every storefront IS a store instead of boarded up/fenced off empty nothing making you feel like the place will die off in a few months, there's always people shopping and hanging out, I often see people playing the arcade games in the middle of the walkways or just spending time there to spend time there. Mall culture was something I thought long dead but it's alive and well in Eau Claire somehow and every time I go it makes me nostalgic and happy to see. I've stopped in at basically every store as well (including the ones aimed at women due to my girlfriend) and they always have something worth buying, some new promo worth taking advantage of, other people shopping so there's not this empty feeling, and very kind workers at every store. You are doing a massive disservice to your stores by keeping the entryway by the bustling Ocean Sushi in such a state of filth that one needs to apply a double layer of protective gloves just to open the door. At night, the grime caked in the cracks, crevices and corners of the entrance evoke that scene in every horror film of the naive woman in some squalid, abandoned building she shouldn't be in...about to walk through a door through which she shouldn't walk. While I don't expect to ever encounter a masked madman lurking behind the unlocked door, I imagine that the suspiciously locked adjacent doors can only be portals to Narnia, or lead to a "Let's Make a Deal" zonk prize of a goat, designer shoes carved from butter, or a 15-ft tall tricycle. Luckily the mall interior is much cleaner than the entryway. There just isn't a lot of excitement to be found inside, unless you are a kid frolicking in 8,000 square feet of entertainment space inside "The Playground." I look forward to updating my review and adding a star if the entrance ever gets a scrub down. Until then, I will not be deterred, continuing to push forth though that dirt-encrusted door. The MOA was clean, well maintained and orderly. Plenty of signage and kiosks and info desks to guide you. We felt safe the whole to time. There is an amazing amount of stores to browse. Multiple stores of everything you want. Large walking corridors so it didn't feel overly crowded. Lots of fun attractions to admire as you walk. We found plenty of food options as well. The MOA is very attractive. Lots of lighting and decorative touches to make you feel welcome. Usually you can find a bench to sit on if you need a break. Overall good experience!

More space for more stores, more food options, more parking lots and garages, and a miniature amusement park in the middle. My son and I are from NJ and he insisted on coming here during our roadtrip across America. He's not a big shopper but loved the amusement park of course. I went on one of the rides with him and he went on a few more on his own. The wait for the rides was pretty long. The whole thing is quite an impressive display of American consumerism and just plain over-the-top, go-big-or-go-home insanity. It's fine for a few hours, but after a while it can become sensory overload, and I'm happy to cross it off my bucket list and move on with the roadtrip.

I grew up not far from this city and enjoyed my time at the mall because it was so interactive and…read morelow times have changed sadly so things are different...but I can honestly say I don't understand how place can fall so low and become so beat up with no kind of maintenance happening or upgrades to ensure the mall can still thrive at its best. Sadly now it is a place that has no direction anymore and management is non existent that's for sure. I took up a part time job with the mall and the things I found out were no shocking but were at the same time. Bad financial choices over and over again from what I could gather from but at what point do you learn... apparently there old manager spent 8 grand on candy for an event and had to give all of it away. Like what are we doing really. Anyways don't expect the bathrooms to improve or anything because there is no budget or whoever makes the big decisions won't out the funding into it anymore but then why not be done all together right? Just had to share my insight and the hard truth. Hope to see the mall make strides foreword to improve but hopes are low.

Some shops are empty and others are being remodeled and opening again. I visited on a Friday (Valentine's Day) and it was pretty steady but not packed, I could find a place to sit down and relax by myself if I wanted to (and I did!) Shop selection is meh, I went into a few but didn't find anything to purchase which is just fine by me - I needed a place to hang out that was warm and this was it! Bubble tea, Caribou and smoothies to choose from - I didn't see a food court but I wasn't particularly looking.

There's only a handful of store I really shop at here but I'm sure overall there's something for everyone. I feel like Ridgedale has been one of the consistent malls (as far as growing up in MN and seeing a lot of malls struggle to keep stores) that never felt like it was closing. I do wish they would decorate more especially for the holidays. They have the Santa pop up in the middle of the mall which is cute but that's its own experience. Also a somewhat better food court would be cool, but there are a ton of options for food outside of the mall/in the area. They do host cool events from time to time like the traveling Hello Kitty Cafe, which is cool.
