I was able to make the appointment online which was convenient. Brett was personable and suggested a plan of attack given the ample time I have until my spring wedding. First the shoulders will be taken up. That was less than $50. Next he suggested we do the hem (about $200 for a multilayered lace dress). Then the simple bustle will be added to the back for about $150. Finally, I am to come back in February for any final adjustments in case I lose weight. Prices were well in line with my expectations. And my fiancé Paul will be ordering his rental suit from Brett in February. Will update as we get closer to our wedding date. She has been extremely accommodating, since my mom was in town for a short time and wanted to be with me when "I said yes to the dress." A few things to note: 1) Unlike many other places, Annapolis Formal and Tuxedo usually does not alter the dresses until a month or two before the wedding. Their reasoning is that most brides gain or lose weight before their wedding, so the closer to the wedding, the better. I absolutely love that I don't have to do 8 different fittings (or some other outrageous number). It just makes solid good sense. 2) Alterations are $380--I'm not sure how that price relates to other places. 3) Appointments only. 4) Flavia and her family members have owned the company for the past 27ish years. Today I made an appointment for custom tailoring. Arrived early and was perusing the fabrics on the custom wall, with two employees 3'-4' away and zero interest in me as a customer. Make a long story short, no one seemed to be too excited to take my measurements or my order after I announced I was there for an appointment. So I walked out. No use in wasting any more of my time if my appointment is important. It's sad because it used to be when you walked into a JosA Banks the staff was on you with a great demeanor the second you walked in. With 6-7 people on staff, one would expect better.

Only four dresses were tried on in the first hour, with a 40-minute gap between the third and fourth. Eventually I had to start grabbing dresses myself and even helped her get in and out of a few, which is unheard of. Afterward the bride told me that her assistant, Alex, barely assisted and just put each dress over her head, which made everything more frustrating. It was obvious the bridal assistants felt overwhelmed, and it only added to the chaotic atmosphere. I even overheard another group ask if they should just come back tomorrow since it was so clear the staff were behind and overworked. While the attendants were kind, the owner was cold, never introduced herself, and only came in to set rules and restrictions rather than making the bride comfortable. On top of that, do not think about bringing a coffee, it will be confiscated. There were also ring cameras all over the boutique, which made the experience feel uncomfortable and invasive. The shop advertises pages of dresses online that they do not even carry in store, which feels misleading. The whole appointment was chaotic, and the bride left feeling overwhelmed and disappointed. Having just gone through wedding dress shopping last year for my own wedding and having an extremely different, positive experience made this appointment even more disappointing. I wish we had read the reviews for this shop before booking. After the fact, it is clear our experience was almost identical to what other brides have described. Additionally, one of the folding tables delivered was extremely old, with a wooden top that was splintered. The rough surface ripped my tablecloth when I moved it, so I had to cover the table with another layer before putting on the cloth to avoid further damage. Two of the folding tables had bare metal legs with no rubber protective covers, which could easily scratch or gouge floors. We had to call and request that the company pick up and exchange the damaged chairs and tables. When I expressed my disappointment to Damon, his response was simply, "this is used furniture. We are happy to give you your money back and pick up the rental items."
