This is gonna be a LONG RANT but hear me out I tried really hard to be okay with my visits here but last experience was what did it for me. Dr.Mishal is a good doctor as far as ordering test I needed BUT when it came time for me to ask questions I felt he was very dismissive. Found out that I wasn't ovulating . When I asked a simple question like "what can cause a woman to not ovulate?" I get an answer of "your ovaries are not working properly." UM?! OBVIOUSLY NOT. No education provided. No other explanation. Nothing. You schedule for an appointment but still wait in the waiting from between 30-45 mins even when I arrive 15 mins early (I wish I was exaggerating). What's the point of the appointment time then? Last visit I was ordered to get some lab work done. I had my blood drawn 6/22/22. I called the office 2 days later. I was told "lab results are in but the nurse is busy but you can leave a message & she'll call you back by the end of the day." --I didn't get a call back. Called again on day 3: "Oh the nurse is out today" Explained to me that even though results were in the doctor needed time to review them and they'll call me the following Monday or latest Tuesday 6/28/22.--didn't receive a call then either. It's 7/7/22 --yup, no call either. Sure no news is good news but how can I be sure? Immediately switch doctors after this. I'm not one to write a bad review but I felt I needed to voice that. I visited Dr. Mishal because he supposedly is a highrisk doctor, while his staff was very nice, he was awful. I had just found out I was pregnant and was super excited. I am overweight, have PCOS, and have diabetes, again the reason I was seeing him is because he took highrisk pregnancies. I was making great efforts to loose weight and had good control of diabetes. I had my first visit and the first thing out of his mouth when he walked in the door was 'you need to lose weight young lady, well it's too late for that". All he did was focus on my weight for the 4 visits I saw him; the second visit he tried to listen for a heart beat, despite acknowledging that I would need an ultrasound for an accurate reading because I was only 9 weeks along and a heart beat maybe hard to detect; he proceeds to try and listen with a cheap looking doppler, while trying hear for a heart beat, he begins to say sigh and say "no, no, no" which freaked me out thinking my baby wasn't alive. He then begins to berate me and accuse me of hurting my unborn baby because I'm diabetic. He also expected me to do the work on finding a diabetes management program, even though that was his Job to do so as a "high risk" doctor. I decided to advocate for myself and asked for a referral to see an actual high risk doctor in Long Beach, not only were my sugar levels not out of control, but my baby was developing normally. When I asked Dr. Mishal for the referral, he laughed at me saying that my insurance wasn't going to cover my new obgyn and initially was refusing to give me my referral. I literally told him to put it in, and guess what? It went through. My son was born at Long Beach Memorial, a healthy full term 7 lbs baby, he is now 10 months old and very healthy. Well i came to this doctor for a second opinion about my irregular periods. I'm trying to get pregnant and did not really want to go in brith control so i was asking if there were other options and right away he told me i had pcos because i was extremely overweight. I try to explain i have been irregular for as long as i could remember. He just kept saying it's because I'm overweight even though i was not overweight a year ago. He really made me self conscious about myself and made me believe that i can never have kids. To top it off they kept sending bills to an address i don't like at even though i updated my address with them. When i call to try and pay they ask me how much i owe. The first time they lost my test and I had to go back to get it redone, the second time they had me hooked to a machine they couldn't get to work for 2 hours until a guy came in to get it to work in less than 5 minutes, today I hand an exam for an alarming health issue and she had a bad attitude and was unkind to me. She bragged about how much experience she has in her field just because I had a few honest questions to seek understanding. Be careful of their billing! Unfortunately it made my experience really bad that I decided to change my OBGYN. Dr.Pham was really great, but their billing company was a total MESS. EMedicalPractice us the billing company name, and it's located in florida. I Had c-section with dr.Pham on 03/16/21, paid the co-payment for dr.Mishal (which I did not see him on the day of service, no one know what it was for, since it was $48 and too much hassle asking around no one know what it was for, i paid it) and paid the co-payment for dr.Pham on the same bill with the same check. On my bank, it was posted on 09/21/2021 that They already deposited/cashed it out. On may 05/31/2022 I got another bill for service in 10/20/2021. So i called the billing company to pay it on 06/06/2022. They said that i have a previous balance of $268 that will be sent to collections if I don't pay. I told them I paid it and they said they don't know and they won't check it with the doctor regarding that balance; insisted I have to resolve it with the doctor. I called the doctor and They told me to contact the billing company regarding any payment. And it's so hard to get a hold of anyone in the doctor's office regarding the billing. It was a waste of time and energy to have to deal with this stupid billing company and doctor's office who can't communicate. Had an appointment scheduled today, I called a month prior to verify my insurance was ok to go in, they said it was good and I would have no problems. I get to my appointment and they say I can't be seen because I need a referral. I would have appreciated if they would have let me know that the day I called to confirm. Also when I asked for my records the ladies at the front desk had an attitude about it for no reason. I am a registered nurse and I would never treat patients in that manner. If I can give negative stars I would... there are so many complaints i have but too much to type.. let me give the main ones about being a patient of dr mishal. I am now 36 weeks pregnant and officially in hands of another doctor that seriously my husband and I love and regret not switching sooner.. EVERY VISIT OF MINE HERE AT DR MISHALS OFFICE I HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND THERES WAS AN ISSUE EVERYTIME NO DRAMATICS... 1. I was officially told that I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at dr mishals office at 33 weeks into my pregnancy, but they knew since june. (which was 24 weeks into my pregnancy) they never told me for whatever reason... so I had GD for two months never knowing what was wrong. 2. My feet were beyond swollen it hurt to walk I would cry, everytime i went in to talk to him he said it was salt and I drank TOO much water.. every time I said something retaining that my hand was swollen or hurt or about feet and swelling in general it was always I drank TOO much water.. i could've had something wrong with my heart and he would say I'm drinking too much..it was ridiculous... that was huge part of my GD n I was never told anything. 3. I told him about me having a discharge once in a while that was more than unusual (tmi sorry) ..he wouldn't check all he would say it's part of pregnancy... well today my new told me it's an infection that my body is producing too much of something so I now just picked up a prescription for the vaginal infection no STD just something some womens body do. Luckily I found out because if it wasn't taken care of I could've gotten an infection in my uterus with a fever after delivery and wouldve. Been really sick.. But remember IT WAS NORMAL according to dr mishal. 4. The girls in the office ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! staff was changed constantly because everyone sucked. Dr mishal had 9 different Nurses that I worked with in the 7 almost 8 months of me being a patient .. It was so hard to talk to someone when I wanted to find out something medically for me about my stuff ... I was always switched back-and-forth between nurses who never knew what they were talking about. 5. THE WAITING TIME! I absolutely do not know why you make appointments here when you make an appointment for a certain time and don't get seen for hour or an hour and a 1/2 later... And every time you go ask the girls up front how much longer they say ten more minutes with attitude... which wasn't the case you'd wait 30 more minutes.. Let's just say if you're thinking if going to him you'd be better off delivering at home alone with Google. read more

Seeing Dr. Mishal has to be one of the worst experiences I had. I went to see him after I had miscarried and he made disgusting jokes asking if I took my fetus out of the toilet and kept it. He said this because apparently "a lot of women like to keep it." Throughout our entire encounter he had a disgusting smile on his face and continued to make gross remarks. All I could do was sit there vulnerable and in shock. My mom was in the room with me and began screaming at him for this. Wish I could give this office a zero. This office is disgusting. Not clean at all. The staff is not helpful and very rude. Even though you have an appointment and show up early, you are left waiting. This has not just happened one time, it has happened every time I have been here. The doctor and staff do not knock prior to entering a room. There are no privacy curtains to shield you from other people passing in the hall. Once you are in the room, you still have to wait a bit before the doctor comes in. Dr. Pham at times seems okay...and at other times he gives me the creeps. Honestly, avoid this office if possible. I'm unfortunately stuck due to the late stages of pregnancy. I have the worst experience every time I call or go into that office. The nurses are lazy and rude. I have only gone in with an appointment however, I usually wait 45 minutes to an hour just so Dr. Truong can talk AT me for 5 minutes. The last time I went in they completely forgot about me. I really like my obstetrician, Dr. Devadatt Mishal at Mishal, Bender and Associates in Downey. Of course, he was in my medical group, so I was assigned to him since I originally didn't really know any of the doctors in the area a couple of years ago. But he turned out to be a great fit for me. The wait to see him once you're in the waiting room can be a little long and agonizing, but I have NEVER ever had any issues with any of the staff whatsoever. And I'm on my second go-round with a baby due at the end of August. (Keep in mind that he always on call during the day, so if he has a delivery he goes to the Downey hospital, then travels right back to this office within a fairly reasonable time.) Dr. Mishal is very courteous, but also no non-sense. He has a rather thick Indian accent, so he may be difficult for some to comprehend at times. It really shows that he cares about people and helping you take care of your baby. I am not at all embarrassed to ask him questions or tell him of all the happenings that my body experienced (is experiencing) because he assured me that they were all normal. He has good bedside manners and does not try to force his views on you. I highly suggest that you do your own research on pregnancy before you meet with ANY doctor, not just him, to find out what you should be doing on a monthly basis because not all doctors have the time to sit down with you and explain it all. I honestly wish Dr. Mishal would have "coached" me a little more, but I learned quickly that it was best to tell him, "Okay this month I'm going to a childbirth education class... this month I'm trying to keep exercising, but is this exercise okay?" If you expect a doctor to tell you what you should be doing, how you should be eating, exercising, and shopping and setting up the nursery for your baby, then Dr. Mishal simply is not the doctor for you. He'll give you tips after you ask, but it's mostly like he assumes that you have a support system helping you along the way. Which leads me to another suggestion... FIND A GREAT SUPPORT SYSTEM that will help you with your birth plan, your monthly checklist, and all the jillion things that you need to do to prepare for your sweet bundle of joy and unconditional love! At times I felt like I didn't know what I was doing at all being a first-time mother, but if you have any hesitations, just write your questions down ahead of time and ask Dr. Mishal when you get there. OR... call his nurse. She is also bilingual (I think Dr. Mishal is at least bilingual, if not trilingual) and very efficient at what she does. I have been coming here since 2016 to Dr.Pham for my gynecologist appointments and never had an issue. It's been the last 2 years that he has rescheduled me and has came late to his own appointment. I didn't mind at first but then it would be a constant thing. Today I came in on my rescheduled appointment because Dr.Pham cancelled on me. My appointment was at 9:30am and he still wasn't there at 10:20am and I was his first patient of the day. When I asked the front desk if he was close by they replied that there isn't telling what time he would get there as if it's something he always does. I've worked with many different Drs for the last 5 years and recognize a good one when I see one. Unfortunately, Dr. Mishal wasn't one of them. Prior to my appointment, I had read all of his bad reviews but opted to give him the benefit of a doubt since my insurance assigned him to me for a gynecology consult. Sadly, after my appointment, I agree with the negative reviews. Despite me arriving on time to my appointment, I waited 45 minutes In the waiting area/lobby and another 10 min when taken to a back room. Still, I had hopes the actual visit with Dr would go well. Not only did he rush my visit (literally only 6 min), he had an unpleasant demeanor. He wouldn't give me a chance to finish a sentence before he voiced his opinion and on top of that when he left the room he ddnt bother to ask if I had any questions or concerns. Needless to say, I will look for another gynecologist. It saddens me how people (Dr's) choose medical professions in which patient's rely on them for diagnostic and treatment purposes, yet they show no interest in their patient's. How can I possibly trust them with my health related issues? Luckily, I was able to voice my concerns that Dr. Mishal failed to address to a Dr colleague of mine for the time being until I find another gynecologist.....phew. As for the rest of the staff.... no comment. I'm not even going to bother. Just keep in mind they are not NURSES, they are MAs (medical assistants). Some of the reviews I've read, referred to them as nurses. And not that all nurses are pleasant =| but as a nurse :) I wouldn't want to be mistaken for one of them. Stay away if possible. I'm trying to find one good thing to say about this office and Dr Truong, but I just cant. This is my experience: The wait time is horrible, even when you have an appointment, be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes to be seen each time... and this is not the worst thing about Dr Truong office. The two receptionists are incompetent. They really will say anything just to get you out of the office. I was told by one of the girl that she would call me back after they scheduled me for an appointment at the ultrasound office, and they never call. My husband and I would just stared at each other and be like... SERIOUSLY lady?!! At our first appointment, we basically were in for like 5 minutes after waiting for like an hour. She didn't even care to do a simple ultra sound for us until we asked her to.. All she did was push some blood test paper to us and tell us to come back in a month.. um wtf? At every appointments, she basically rushed everything, doesn't provide any useful information, just generic stuff that you can just google online. She just wants to push you out as fast as she can so she can see her next patient. So after two months with this BS, we decided to switch insurance and OBGYN. We called the office to tell them we switched provider and came to get our medical records. A month later, we got a call from the receptionist reminding us for an upcoming appointment that we DID NOT scheduled.. like wth? we came to see you, we told you we won't be coming back, we got our medical records.. hint hint.. Currently sitting here in the waiting room writing this. This is my 4th appointment here and I've had enough with the wait time. There is really no point in making an appointment or trying to get here on time. My last appointment we waited 40 min to get into the room then waited another 30 min in the room. Now today I have an ultrasound appointment which they required me to drink 32oz of water an hour prior. My appointment was at 415 I got here at 355 (to check in cause I knew I would be waiting) and it is already 536 and I am still waiting!!! They said the ultrasounds were backed up and i had 4 people ahead of me ! How do you expect a pregnant woman to hold her full bladder for almost 2 hours!? I love my Dr. Dr truong but this is so ridiculous. I don't understand how they could be this backed up just to do ultrasounds. I loved my experience at this doctor. This review is long overdue. I never waited long and loved that I felt well taken care of. When it came down to delivery I had Dr. Pham and he was AMAZING!! Hands down he made labor so easy for me like literally, it was a breeze. I don't want any more kids, but if I did I want Dr. Pham again! Dr Pham has been mg doctor for 4 pregnancies! 2 C sections 2 V Births. He also did my tubal ligation and I was made to feel comfortable every time I met with him. For my last pregnancy my insurance had sent me to another doctor and after 5 months I had enough. I really tried giving my other doctor a chance but my visits were 5 minutes and I never got answers to my questions. So I decided to go back to Dr Pham, and I'm glad I did! 5 stars for Dr Loy Pham. 3 stars for the wait time. 4 stars for the girls on the front. Setting up an appointment means waiting for about 30 minutes to actually see the doctor. So plan accordingly. I wanted a woman OB GYN since I didn't want a man going down there poking around and whatnot but I'm glad I chose Dr Loy. Dr Loy is very professional and he makes sure to get you comfortable and feel at ease. He is very comforting and makes sure to explain everything to you so you understand what's going on and why a surgery is needed if he finds any abnormality. As for me, surgery went well. Back on my feet within 3 days, and even though I pushed my body too hard, recovery was farely fast. Won't trade Dr Loy for anyone else. read more

It was rather strange being that there was NOT nurse in the room and he continuously groped my breasts disguising fit as a breast exam (I was under the impression that it was protocol but realized it wasn't when he stopped as soon as a nurse came to assist him). I consulted with other physicians and explained the entire visit with them to determine that this man had violated me. A complaint has been filed with the medical board to take further action. I think the front staff do not know how to use a phone. Every time I call in, they hang up on me. How difficult is it to not hang up on someone?? Pretty sure these ladies on on their cell phones and lack the proper skills to be in an office setting. They ask for information to rush me off the phone without giving me time to ask the questions I had in the first place. Been 4 times & wait was 20 to 30 min. - acceptable for drs. offices. Need to upgrade waiting room decor. I required surgery. Inez, surgery coordinator, overheard me from her office say I was uncomfortable. Both Dr. M & Inez got me scheduled ASAP. My fiance went into the office and requested a copy of her medical file due to her moving out of state. The medical assistants at the office said that they charge $5 per page. When asked why it cost so much, they explained that it takes time to obtain the files and takes labor and supplies to makes the copies. That is not the issue. The problem is the exorbonate cost to obtain a copy of your own medical files. Under HIPPA, they may charge a reasonable amount for the labor and supplies to make copies. $5 per page is unreasonable. Also, it is a violation of HIPPA to charge to look for your files. "The Privacy Rule permits the covered entity to impose reasonable, cost-based fees. The fee may include only the cost of copying (including supplies and labor) and postage, if the patient requests that the copy be mailed. If the patient has agreed to receive a summary or explanation of his or her protected health information, the covered entity may also charge a fee for preparation of the summary or explanation. The fee may not include costs associated with searching for and retrieving the requested information." You can report HIPPA violations to the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services provides an OCR Health Information Privacy Complaint Form Package on its website. read more

My wife and I have been here since we found out she was pregnant. Shes almost 6 months now, Dr. Mishal is great and an amazing doctor. Only problem here is the staff. Very rude over the phone and in person. Because of the staff is why im giving it 1 star. They forget to send urine samples out, they never call you back with results when they say they will. Every single time were here we are always on time for our appointment but still sit in the waiting room for almost an hour every single time. For this reason of the staff we are choosing to go to another doctor for the remainder of her pregnancy. Dont bother coming here. Theres other dr offices with better service. read more

So Here is my breakdown, I will give this place 3 star all in all, till I feel a bit more comfortable or content/or discontent with them. 5 Star for Dr. Mishal 2 Star for facility/wait time period 0-2 Star for Front desk staff 3-4 for back office staff nurses/Ultra sound Tech This review might be a bit confusing but once you read my story you would understand, hopefully. Well its start by me looking for a new OBGYN Doc, I had Kaiser for about 10 Years and honestly, I wish I would have been able to stay there. Anyways my first encounter with this office was off to a good start, the ladies were polite and seemed efficient over the phone. When I went in for my first visit, the waiting time was about 40min, I thought well it's my first time and paperwork needed to be in place before the visit, so I brushed it off. The visit went well, the back staff nurse was nice, and Dr. Mishal was also nice, seemed honest, and very informative, was actually glad and felt relieved when I was going home. My second visit was for an ultrasound, it went well and pretty fast. This is when things take a turn, my third visit was for a Thursday, I initially asked for a Friday appointment but Dr. Mishal doesn't go in that day, I was told. The week before my appointment, I was called by a woman telling me that my appointment has been changed to Friday, But I remembered that the Doc won't be in that day, so I stated, " oh but Dr. Mishal won't be in Friday, that's why I was given Thursday appointment". She stated oh well The Doctor will be in that day, another Doctor switched the day with him, I didn't think anything of it, so I said okay, well better for me. Appointment time come, to my surprise the Doc was not in, and I already had missed my Thursday appointment, I was flagged as a no call no show. I informed the nurse, no my appointment was changed by you guys last week to today, I am here for my appointment now, and the front desk person, Sandra, I believe was her name; she said well because you missed your appointment yesterday, the doctor is not in today, he won't have any days available till next week. I though it extremely rude, unprofessional, and downright bad that she just told me to my face, I missed my appointment, even though I just told her, I am here for my appointment, I did not miss my appointment, are you telling me I am lying to you, that I want to miss work, pay day care, and come at a wrong date, waste my time, really did you not understand that you guys changed my appointment???!!!! She even asked another front desk person to see my profile because since I missed yesterday, they had called me to follow up to why I missed my appointment, they also left a message. NOT correct, no one had called me, much less left a message, otherwise it's obvious I would have known of the situation and would have not come in!!! Anyways the other woman said yes I have your profile here and we did leave a message, I just couldn't believe what I was hearing, so I asked okay what's the number on profile, I thought must be wrong info, and no it was my correct contact info, so these people, I don't know what they were talking about, all excuses, it obvious that someone in their department messed up and they didn't want to admit, take the fault, nor apologize for this huge inconvenience they put me through. Anyways, I had to go back..... At this time, I was more in than out and needed the surgery to get done, plus the doc was nice, and that's hard to find! So far I had surgery, the doctor was again informative of all he planned on doing when I underwent surgery, so far the recoup wasn't as easy as it was in the past, and I declare it to be because of the lack of follow up instructions, or post op instructions or instruments needed for recoup. I've had the same procedure done several times with Kaiser and the aftermath was easier, and I strongly feel it was because of this small little blow tool they gave me to take home and blow air into, this tool helps the lungs and strength of abdominal wall for faster less painful recuperation. Although I must also state that time has passed and I've aged, and also have to factor what was taken out his time, also would have contributed to the more painful aftermath. This surgery was hard I've had a strong, itchy, raspy, nonstop cough that I cannot seem to get rid off, I drink lots of H20 when it hits, and that lessens the cough and pain but man it's though. Anyways needless to say, I will continue to go with this doc for the follow up of my procedure, I'm not stupid, but I am currently looking for another facility to go to as my OBGYN place, although it does depend on my upcoming appointment, because as with anything continuous exposure to something can make it or beak it. read more
