I have had two negative experiences with them. Not related to their beauty services though. First, I called them up to schedule a hair cut appointment and left a voicemail as no one picked up even during their working hours. They returned my call after one week to ask if I still needed a haircut. Needless to say, I had gotten my haircut somewhere else by then. Second, I showed up during their business hours around 5 pm for eyebrows and there was this gentleman sitting at their counter. He told me there was no available for eyebrows or waxing and if I could come the next day. Now, why were they still open, I don't know. This review is wayyyyyy overdue! Being in the wedding industry, I am very picky about who I refer and who I use myself. I can hands down say Mishal is amazing! my husband who doesn't like to much make up, was even wow'd by all 3 of my looks that she created for my wedding. This was my first visit to Mishal after reading reviews I decided to try her salon. First and Most importantly she is following all the Covid protocols!!! Extremely clean and hygienic salon. Me and my daughter had best haircuts and eyebrows. For eyebrow threading she ties the thread around her neck as oppose to holding the thread in her mouth. Mishal was amazing - I texted her for a much needed haircut while home on a study break, and she got back to me right away and was able to fit me into her schedule easily. She took a quick look at my hair and told me exactly how much she was going to cut off, how she would keep my layers, and how she would restyle my part so that I got my volume back and a little more life into my hair. Super disappointing experience . It was not Mishal but another lady who threaded. She was trying to be very friendly but her work is not up to the mark. Didn't ask how I want my eyebrows shaped, but I told her how I wanted before she started. She snapped my skin thrice and no apologies - just kept going. Once she finished she didn't even ask me to check it or hand over a mirror like other places do. When I came back to my car, I was in shock to see my eyebrows so badly threaded. The ends and upper portion were so uneven and I had to retweeze them to make them look OK. May be it worked for others but not for me and I don't recommend this place either. read more

3.5 stars A little torn about writing this review because Mishal is super sweet and came highly recommended by a good friend who used her for her wedding. My sister used her as well for 2 of my events, but this is based on my experience alone. The biggest mistake made was on my part. I booked my wedding/reception hair and make-up without getting a trial from anyone. I communicated with Mishal mostly through text and whatsapp. She is super responsive and flexible. I did have to change my timings a bit for my engagement shoot, and she worked with me and I truly appreciated that. I'm not a major make-up person so I let Mishal know from the get go that I don't want cake face. I wanted to still look like me and I think she did just that. Engagement shoot: I LOVED my make up. I was so so happy with how it turned out. I loved my hair too-I wanted curls and I got nice, big curls. I felt beautiful. But the biggest concern was the fact that almost 1.5 hours after I got my hair done, BEFORE my shoot even started (in San Francisco), my curls came out. So in 95% of my pictures, I have practically no curls. I came home and contacted Mishal and she was super apologetic. She offered to reduce the price on my lady sangeet makeup/hair, and a hair re-trial on a day of my choosing. I did the re-trial on my bridal shower day and the curls were tighter than the engagement shoot day but stayed so it's all good-see attached pictures. Lady sangeet: I loved my make-up and hair again. Super super happy. She did forget that she offered me a discount because of what happened during the engagement shoot, so I showed her the texts we exchanged and she honored it-see attached pictures. Wedding day: Mishal was at the venue on time and ready to go. I had shown her pictures of the hair style I wanted prior and for the most part, she did just that. Seeing all my professional pictures, I did feel like it was a little cakey, but not bad. She also made sure I felt comfortable with the dupatta pinning and secured it with extra bobby pins for me. See attached pictures. Reception: Again, Mishal was in my room ready to go when I got there. I had about 1 hour to re-do my make up and hair. Because she had to recurl my hair, it did take a little longer, but only by 15 minutes. Again, I loved my make up. But my hair wasn't exactly how I wanted it. I had shown her previous pictures and the hairstyle I wanted had a poof at the front, with a mini "poof" thing in the back and wavy hair. The hairstyle I got had tight curls, with a not so subtle front/back poof. I did not reach out to Mishal to discuss the hairstyle after the event took place, but it wasn't how it was supposed to look-see attached picture. I do think Mishal does an amazing job when it comes to make-up, but in my opinion and with my experience, I do think there is room for improvement with hair. read more

My (and my husband's )number one concern was that I do not have an unnatural or caked face look, where my lipstick was covering more than just my lips ;) I worked with Mishal Sahdev for my hair/make up for my Sangeet/Mehndi and my Ceremony/Reception in July 2019. I found her on Yelp with high rated reviews. I chose her based on her photos of her clients where I could tell she had not caked anyone's face and her Yelp reviews. You could tell that her work is complementary to the client's facial features. Mishal knows what she is doing. There is no question about that. I trust her with my eyes closed. For my events including my engagement shoot where I did a trial with her, I literally zoned out and let her take over. And the results were right on! I got so many compliments on how natural my makeup looked and how well it coordinated with my eye, lip shape and my outfits. I had some idea on the type of hairstyles I wanted for each of my events and she worked with me to get to a recommendation that we both felt was going to look good.
