I could not be happier with the work Brown's Custom Contracting did within my home. Detailed Summary of My Experience: I contacted Jim initially just to get an estimate for finishing my basement, which was in a state that needed major work because the walls were made of cinderblock and the floors were complete concrete; it was a space that was probably best used for storage and I would not call it "comfortably livable." Jim arrived quickly for an estimate and helped me explore the possibilities of the space, even going so far as to note what would be difficult or expensive to pull off. Within days he provided an estimate for the job, which I found out during the process was a major ordeal involving many phases and individuals, so I'm impressed he was able to produce a price so quickly (and in the end it was an accurate price). I signed Jim up for the job because of his straightforward and pleasant attitude. In the weeks and months that followed (this was a major job, I want to note), Jim gave me frequent updates about what workers I could expect to come by and when/how-long they would be there. Every person who came onto the property was skilled and good about communicating what they would be working on, especially when they had questions about the possibilities of the space. Jim also handled all of the work involving the permits and he worked with the county to ensure everything was up to code. He also alerted me any time there was a change in plans or if there was a possibility of delay. Given how involved this basement-finish job was, there were plenty of opportunities for major hurdles, but the project was still completed in a timely manner, and it was always clear to me what was going on, what would happen next, etc. The final product is everything I could've wanted. Jim made efficient use of the space to make as much of it "comfortably livable" as possible. Even the water heater and HVAC unit were relocated with no diminishment in functionality just for the sake of making the basement as good as it could possibly be. I'm very pleased with the additional space my family has been given, and there isn't a single rough edge in the room. Jim's guys are the best and I highly recommend his service to anyone looking to improve their homes. I have included pictures of the job before and after just so you can see the quality of work.

It had to be the same one, nothing similar. I've called around a million and one companies looking for it to no avail. Either that or they would have to ship it to me, and shipping cost more than the damn tile. I came across ProSource on Yelp and spoke with Jensen Weh who was a huge help from beginning to end. While ProSource didn't physically have this tile, Jensen ordered the time for me from his distributor and I was able to pick it up. All in the same week! I just remodeled my powder room and looked at hundreds of stone slabs at United Granite in Bowie for a vanity top. I picked several options but there was one piece poking out behind two other slabs that really spoke to me. They have a pulley system that allows them to lift and moved huge stone slabs. Then I could see the whole slab and I knew I had to have it for my powder room. The people who fabricated the stone cut the backsplash portion so that the natural veigning of the stone was perfectly matched. I am one happy customer. Thank you so much Chris!

He drew up a 3D view of my wife's vision the first day we met with him. He was able to include a custom lazy susan that had to be designed smaller than your typical kind in a regular-sized kitchen which was something my wife really wanted. Isaac was also very responsive. When we wanted or needed to talk to him, he always picked up the phone, and he was at our home several times during the project to make sure everything was being installed. It was as if my wife's vision quickly become Isaac's vision which I know my wife greatly appreciated.

But I took a leap, came back, and tried this place again. My sales rep Andy was 100% better and really helped save the day! I called twice after my son picked up the peice and paid, so I left a message which they didn't call back, then went up in person. Was given every excuse why it wasnt his fault. Do not spend your hard earned money here. rating os 0 for taking advantage of customers. note to the owner that just responded- I would never asked for ANYTHING free (illogical)- just what I was was quoted for a simple 3 inchx 22 inch peice. We were fortunate enough to be able to visit our construction site on a daily basis, which prevented significant issues from being covered up during construction. These issues ranged from the mundane gaps in floorboards and studs out of plumb, to the egregious such as incorrect HVAC being installed and tubs & showers not being properly waterproofed. The protection installed on the finished floors was poor and led to numerous scratches during construction, we're still cleaning up overspray paint off the floors and outlets, and we've had two leaks within two months of living in the home. We raised these issues with both the Production Manager and the Vice President of the "On Your Lot" division and were met with lip service stating they would do better, with nothing coming of it. This experience is from their "On Your Lot" division, and from their website states "Since 1986, Caruso Homes has been the trusted choice for building a well-crafted home that's uniquely yours". Our experience has led to anything but a "well-crafted home" and more of a "poorly-assembled nightmare". What should have otherwise been an exciting landmark in our lives has turned into a deeply regrettable experience that we will have the next 30 years to pay off. If you are considering Caruso Homes at all, don't.
