I am so happy with my kitchen that was installed by renovations and more. The owner Chris a nice and I told him what I and he made suggestions and everything came into place and by the time it was completed, which was real timely. I was surprised and the little things that he added that I wasn't expecting like the undercabinet lighting that I wanted, he put a switch on the wall so I can use one side of the kitchen or the other and you cannot see the lighting it's LED lights that are so small that you can't even tell they're there until you light them up and the cabinets are excellent quality the special design a space for me to hide my big trash cans that Laurel provides. and he stands behind his work that's the thing he every day to see the progress of being made and gives his approval or he might suggest something be done a little more to his satisfaction because he is so particular that you can't help with the at his work so if you want a local contractor that stands behind his job and his company he cares about you as a customer and he's treated like a member of your family so go with the local them the business. Don't give it to the they've got money go to the local contractors that are reliable and get the good reviews like because Maryland homes and renovations cannot be beat. Chris and his crew have done a few jobs at my house and they have all been great. He provides timely estimates and quotes and can usually get around to the job within a few weeks. We've found his estimates to be very reasonable. Recently, he built a closet under my basement staircase providing some much needed storage. The closet looks excellent. We would definitely recommend Maryland Renovations for any home improvement / repair projects. Update: Chris recently started a new project on our house and has been flexible with some scheduling issues on our end. read more

Chris performed a variety of home improvement services for me, completing both major projects and minor tasks that I had been avoiding for years, including painting (inside & out), hardwood flooring, drywall, electrical, tile work, driveway sealing, and bath/shower repair. Chris gives quick reasonable-priced estimates and then works diligently until completion. He consults and employs specialists to be certain that jobs are done correctly. I wrote my original review in 2019 when we first engaged Chris and were reasonably happy with his work. A few hiccups and issues with getting in touch, but nothing major. Recently we decided to sell our house, and the home inspection came back from the potential buyer. When it did, the inspector indicated that the water heater, which Chris and his team had installed, had been incorrectly installed back in 2019. Specifically the venting hose wasn't fully covering the vent, which could allow carbon monoxide into the house. The plumber we hired to fix it informed us that whomever had installed it had neglected to bolt it to the actual vent cap like you are supposed to and had just wrapped it up with foil HVAC tape. This cutting of corners seems to me like an egregious oversight, and for that reason I would highly recommend against considering Chris and his team for any future repairs or fixes. The first meeting was promising! Met with Chris and another staff who seemed genuine and appeared to have a real sense of business and customer service. Received an estimated for several small projects around the house. COVID hit and I assumed things would be put on hold but reached out to Chris to inquire if they were working during the pandemic and if they needed work considering several items we had estimated were small, outside projects. It took several tries to get any response but eventually Chris did respond and said they were working and would complete the outside work, scheduling the inside work for a later date. The outside work was done with no problems, new shutters, mailbox and house numbers. We were very happy with the work. Spoke about arranging a later date for the remaining 3 inside jobs (door knob installation, replace sink faucet and cover a inside door with copper facing.) I was told I would receive a return call. Nothing. Reached out again to try and schedule and after 2 emails and a phone call was able to arrange an appointment. 2 other staff reported and completed the door knob and faucet but stated they could not do the door facing and needed another staff to cut the copper. I was told Chris would get back to me that day. No call, no email. Waited another week. I sent an email to Chris, no response. After I made a phone call I finally got a hold of Chris who claimed his staff never informed him the door project still needed to be completed. Being so frustrated with the horrible follow up and customer service, in addition to having to chase the company down for follow up, I discussed with Chris and it was agreed that the job would not be completed and I would be refunded the estimated amount for the one door job. Please note, I made the mistake of paying in full prior to the work being completed. I trusted a company that projected a trustworthy front. A company that we were going to consider for our kitchen remodeling. It is going on 3 months after Chris informed me he would be mailing me a refund check. I have sent Chris 2 emails since our phone conversation, and I have yet received a refund or any response. I would not recommend this company, not necessarily due to the quality of work but to the horrible customer service and lack of follow up. I acknowledge our jobs were minimal to the "big" jobs Chris has mentioned but if that is the case, don't provide an estimate and don't agree to do the work. It may be a minimal cost and job to Maryland Renovations but to the customer it means so much more. read more

Chris and his team responded quickly to my request for a repair to my master bathroom tub, and he also fixed my front door. My air conditioning was broken, so these guys were working in awful heat but were still so polite and efficient. Gave me a teacher discount, which was incredibly nice. I'm hoping to hire the team again soon to replace my french doors to the deck and possibly do a powder room remodel. read more

Terrible customer service. Chris and a colleague of his came to my home 4 weeks ago to give me a quote. I walked them around my home discussing various projects that we'd like to have done. His colleague took measurements and notes as we talked. As they were leaving, I was told that a price quote would be sent to me in a few days. Chris Coates handled the kitchen and bathroom remodel in my house last year. I chose Chris because he was the only contractor who handled both the sales proposal and project management. This was my first major remodeling project, and Chris really did a great job walking me through the remodeling process, from the sales quote, picking out materials, setting the schedule, demolition, and then completing the work. Chris offered valuable suggestions on choosing options like plumbing and light fixtures. Like any remodeling project, there were a few unexpected issues, but Chris explained problems as they arose and always got my approval with additional expenses. He has a great crew; they are hard workers and respectful of your home and belongings. I was very pleased with the results; my house went from a dated 1960s layout to having a contemporary feel. I highly recommend Chris, and I would definitely use his company for future remodeling projects. read more
