We recently had to go out of town for a few days and needed somewhere to board our dogs. I have 3 small dogs and they haven't been in a kennel in a few years and 2 of them are 11 years old, so I really took my time selecting a place to board them. Miss Kate's Bed and Biscuit was the perfect choice for us! Here's a few things to note about boarding here: 1) One of my dogs isn't always friendly with other dogs, so when they had outdoor playtime, they kept my "pack" together and not with other dogs. 2) We were able to see them on a camera, through our phone, when they were playing outside. It was nice to see they were happy and enjoying their stay. 3) They do have doggie day care here and do let dogs play outside together - unless you request otherwise. 4) I was able to bring my dog food from home and instructions for their feeding with no problem 5) You have to pay up front for the boarding - which wasn't a problem for me - as they told me that ahead of time. 6) When I called, I left a message and they got back to me quickly, via text. I was able to text back and forth and get all my questions answered in a timely fashion. 7) They do have an option of having your dog washed before you pick them up. I believe it was approximately $10 a dog (mine all weigh under 20 pounds). We did that, since I figured they'd be smelly from playing outside so much. And they all smelled nice and felt clean when I got them back. 8) One of my dogs is really nervous around strangers (he was a COVID dog) and they spent time with him outside and working to build his trust - I really appreciated that. 9) They have several boarding options - I was able to keep my 3 all together in an enclosed heated/ac controlled porch they had. They also have various sized pens/crates, etc. Just talk to them to figure out the best option for you. This place is clean and well run and I felt like the staff cared about my dogs. It's a bit out in the "country" but they have plenty of signs out to guide you to the entrance. I would 100% board my dogs here again. All 3 of them came back to me happy and healthy and promptly napped in the car on the way home. read more

We've only done a one night visit with our dog, but we like the place so much that we made reservations for April and May for a few trips we have planned. Such a nice staff. The girls we talked to were very friendly and attentive. It was nice to walk into their office and not smell animal odors like we have at other boarding places. They have a live cam system that is really nice. Easy to use once you download the app. It put us at ease to see our pup comfortably resting in a spacious crate & outside in their large running areas. Reasonably priced. I am so grateful, appreciative and lucky to have found this place. I traveled from Phoenix, AZ to Ocala, FL for a six week training for my job. On my flight to FL, my senior pup, 17yrs, Bebe didn't do well on the flight. She was ridden with anxiety and oxygen issues and the vet ruled out any future airline travel for her. My heart sunk as after FL, I will be relocating to NC and my dog was now needing to stay in FL during my travel, my home finding trip and my household goods move. I was panicked and identified three potential places where I could board Bebe and have her looked after. Two of these places denied her because of her age. I showed up to Miss Kate's unannounced and was immediately impressed. The grounds are clean and well manicured and the inside is well kept and super organized. I spoke to all employees for well over an hour on my first visit and I immediately felt cared for and understood. Gary, Debora and Dakota (most amazing groomer) are truly dog people. They were just as attentive and loving as I am towards my dog and that is invaluable. Gary took the upmost care and grace while taking care of my little girl. I made requests that were odd, but are part of her routine, and he didn't flinch with them. Instead, he took notes and made sure her stay felt as much as it did if she weren't away from home at all. I can not recommend this place enough, if your furkid is like family to you, intend on gaining the team at Miss Kate's as family members too. I trust my most prized and loved possession with them wholeheartedly and can only hope to find a comparable boarding facility in NC. During my time here in FL I will be without question returning my gal here for two more stays and grooms. I highly recommend. read more

Miss Kate (Debra) is a sweetheart. We went out of our way to chose the very best caregiver for our Sphinx cats. And we chose right! At this establishment, there is an apartment on the property where a lady lives and watches the cats in their care. They are allowed to roam freely, are given love all day, and even sleep in bed with her at night! In this particular instance, our cats were the only pets there at the time. So they had the whole place to themselves! Miss Kate's Bed and Biscuit went out of their way to see that our cats were cared for to the best of their ability. First let me begin by saying I don't usually board my dogs in a kennel, but had no choice. This facility seemed to have good reviews and after a visit I booked my 2 small dogs for a week. I selected this kennel because of their video camera access which would allow me to see my dogs during the day. I was provided a half sheet of directions upon request when dropping my dogs off and quickly found out that this option was not functioning at all. When I told the girl at the desk during pick up we couldn't access the video, she shrugged it off and said, yea, the cameras don't work well. We called to check on our dogs Thursday morning and was told they were doing well. No problems reported after I specifically asked if they were eating and pooping ok. Upon pick up I was informed one of the dogs had loose stool that morning and had an accident on their personal bedding. I was also told they had spilled their water bowl and there was no time to clean it up so the beds and blanket were given to me in a trash bag. I had requested that the dogs should be given a bath before they were picked up on Saturday morning. This was an extra $60 charge and we immediately noticed our one dog had poop all over the bottom of his paws. On the ride home, our younger dog was distressed and shivering. He had a fearful temperament we had never seen before. He refused to eat and had severe diarrhea. I immediately put their dirty blankets into the washing machine. Imagine my surprise to find remnants of weeds and earthworms. We tried to contact the owner, as we were angry about the conditions and concerned for the health of our dogs. The owner now told us to see a vet as my dog(s) had diarrhea all week! Why was I not notified of this sooner? It is my opinion this pet boarding facility is not clean and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

We have a Great Dane mix named Kadim that absolutely Loves going to Miss Kate's and is sad on days he can't attend! He gets so excited as we pull down the drive as he hears the other dogs. When we park, he leaps joyfully out of the car and runs to the front door, ready to see all of his human and K-9 friends! Kadim goes 3 days a week and we board him as well on occasion. Kadim is even on a special diet, and they are so accommodating to ensure his needs are met!We have the utmost trust in the care they give every time Kadim is there and we feel thrilled to recommend Miss Kate's every chance we get! These dogs get to play with staff all day and they really seem to care about them, treating them like their own pups. When the dogs are kenneled it's only for naptime or to eat. Miss Kate's is one of a kind! We live up North and very concerned about leaving our pup with anyone. We went in unannounced and were pleasently surprised. We meet the groomer Dakota and she was great. She showed us around and you can tell she loves the dogs. The owner Gary was so accommodating. Miss Kate's Bed & Biscut has acres of fenced land for the dogs to run. We returned 2 days later to board my 9 month old pup. He had the best time and I know this because they have camera's everywhere so you can watch remotely on your phone. When we went to pick him up his tail was wagging and he was exhausted from playing all day! They dogs are out all day playing and only come in when they need a rest. We will be back soon! read more

I can't begin to tell you what a blessing it was to find Miss Kate's before my trip to Mexico. My fur-baby was getting old and had some health issues. Debra was so caring and assured me she would be well taken care of. When I went for the tour of the facility, there were "repeat customers" and each one of them looked so thrilled to return. There were approx 40 dogs/pups there and Debra knew all their names. I brought my baby in and knew she was in good hands. Unfortunately my baby had a medical emergency while there and Debra and the staff took amazing care of her. The tried to get her to the animal hospital but Amber passed away. They cuddled her as she took her last breath and treated her like one of their own. The staff was so compassionate and loving to my baby and to me as well. It was very emotional for all involved but these amazing folks were so professional and caring. I am so grateful to Debra and the staff and would highly recommend their services!! read more

This is going to be a bit long, but well worth the 5 stars and telling of the story. At the time of our trip, our puppy, Luna (18lb terrier mix), was about 14mo old. Rather than fly, we decided to drive from Texas to Florida for our Disney vacation during the week of New Years. We figured we'd just board her at the PetSmart PetsHotel in The Villages once we got there. She's been boarded by them once before, so we figured she'd do just fine this time. It would mean more time with us and less time at a boarding facility, so we brought her to Florida rather than leaving her in Texas. Unfortunately three days in the car and multiple hotel rooms and new places was quite stressful for her. We got to the PetSmart and got all the paperwork done for Luna's stay. Then they had to feel on her to make sure she was not coming in with fleas or pre-existing injuries and whatnot. I told the woman that Luna was pretty stressed and to take it easy. She did not listen and immediately tried to start grabbing and feeling on her. Naturally Luna growled and the woman backed off. She advised they could not take her because she was being aggressive. I told her that she was to take it easy and Luna would relax, but there was so much going on that she just needed a few minutes. They brought out this weird fake arm and started poking her with it, to which she simply cowered away. After a minute or so the woman held out a flea comb for Luna to smell. Two sniffs and a couple strokes of the flea comb later the woman reached out to grab her again and try to put a paper collar on her. Luna snapped at her this time and the woman refused and told me that Luna was too much of a risk and they would not take her. We had to scramble to find somewhere else as we had our entire trip booked and paid for, three days of travel under our belts already, and nowhere to take Luna. Worried we might have to cancel our trip, I called the first location I found on Yelp, Miss Kate's, and through tears, explained what had just happened. Debra's husband explained what their place was like, how they work with and treat the dogs, and assured me they'd be far more willing to work with Luna than PetSmart was. We rushed over, and they put all the other dogs in another area of the yard away from where Luna would be so she could get used to the place slowly. They were so accommodating and such SUPER friendly people. The girl they had on duty that day went out into the yard and sat on the ground with a handful of kibble to start getting Luna to warm up to her. I never once doubted that she would be in good hands. Not to mention, they didn't charge extra for things like treats or outside play time, unlike PetSmart. They even let her have her own part of the yard away from the other dogs for the first few days until she was comfortable enough to plays with some of the smaller dogs there. They took their time and allowed her the space and freedom she needed to warm up to them and their place. Honestly, while the entire ordeal was extremely stressful, I was so relieved that she ended up staying at Miss Kate's instead of the PetsHotel. She spent much of her time playing outside and being as spoiled as she'd let them spoil her. If she'd been at the other place she'd have stayed in a cage the entire time. We're eternally grateful to Miss Kate's and their willingness to be so accommodating. They really did save our trip. We 1000% DO recommend! read more

My puppy and I wound up spending 10 weeks in Florida with my parents due to COVID and Miss Kate's was an absolutely wonderful find. They had two hour playdates for pups for only $5, which allowed me to drop off my puppy to run around and play with dogs while I ran some errands. He was also able to get groomed and everyone at Miss Kate's is so nice and an absolute pleasure. My dog was always so excited to go and so exhausted when I picked him up - I cannot recommend this place highly enough, especially considering how affordable it is! read more

This was our first time leaving our 2 year old puppy Maui. She did very well at this facility and we could see that, daily, as we watched her on the cameras. My 7 pound dog stayed at Miss Kate's Bed and Biscuits for 8 days. After his stay, they walked him out to me with his harness and leash on. When I reached down and picked him up, my hands and arm were covered in blood. I immediately removed his harness and noticed a deep, bloody wound under his front leg where the harness had dug into his skin. Over the 8 day period, the harness had actually cut all the way to the bone. The owner told me that he wouldn't let anyone remove his harness, so they just left it on the entire time. I had my son take my dog to my mom who was waiting in the car. When she saw how deep the wound was she immediately called the veterinarian. We rushed him to the vet and he had to have emergency surgery. The surgery and meds cost $450.00. Before leaving my dog at this facility, I gave them emergency numbers to call in case there were ANY issues and informed them someone would pick him up immediately if anything happened. I never received a call saying there were any issues. I also checked the web cameras daily but never say my dog out his container, so I am assuming they didn't even let him out to go to the bathroom. I am also assuming that if he had stayed there much longer, he would have bled to death. My dogs stay at this facility was nothing short of traumatizing for him and my family. PLEASE don't think your animals are being CARED for at this place. read more
