I had the pleasure to work with Kimmi and her team as Portland Fashion Week. They were our exclusive lash provider and were chosen among many companies wishing to participate. Miss Knockout was chosen because of service, quality, talent and ability to work with every kind of face and eye there is. They did the lash artistry on over 70 models and not one model had a problem with the lashes coming off or irritating their eyes, plus I had my lashes done too! Even their semi-perm pair lasted over TWO WEEKS! Much better than Ardell I tell you. Miss Knockout did not compensate me or PFW and this review is solely on my true and honest opinion. Lash extension set w/ Libby: 4 stars. She was pleasant and described well what to expect in the lashes she was applying. Front desk: 5 stars. See my long-winded story below, the receptionist was the only reason why I didn't leave a 1 star review. Girl who did my henna brow: 1 star. My appointment started with a henna brow application (I think the girl's name was Ashley). I hadn't tried henna before, but it's supposed to fill and shape your brows a bit, nothing particularly dramatic. Ashley was pleasant, and after I showed a few pics of what I expected from applications I found online, she explained that it wouldn't be that way (which was fine). So I went in to see if this service was the right fit for me, not expecting anything magical. Libby did my lashes and then cleaned up my brows to see the results. The henna didn't take on my skin except for the top of my brows, which Ashley (?) painted on extremely boxy. Furthermore, my light brown eyebrows were a weird red tone. Libby agreed that it didn't look right and simply didn't adhere to my skin. After taking off as much as she could, she told me to go check out with the receptionist and Libby would let Ashley know what was up. Without me really reacting, she said that I shouldn't be charged for the service (as if it were a no brainer/ passing comment). Ashley comes out, looks at the brows and snips, "oh yeah they didn't quite turn out, give her 10% off" and then walked off as quickly as she could as to not allow me to reply. Libby seemed to notice my facial expression at that point and thanked me for coming, then also took off. Leaving the innocent 20 year old receptionist with me. We're talking about a $35 test treatment here, I really didn't care about the cost, however I looked ridiculous and could not believe how they handled it. When the girls walked away, the receptionist quietly said, "we're going to give you 50% off," to which I replied, "this isn't right." She quickly agreed and said their policy is usually not to charge for a service that didn't turn out. The receptionist did the best she could in an incredibly awkward situation. I felt so disrespected and remained fairly quiet, but she easily read into it and did what was right. Mistakes happen and products aren't the right fit for everyone. I don't expect perfection, but what's important is how professionals choose to handle the situation. For this reason, I would not trust this salon for any future services. read more

Pure talent! Last week I went in for my first lash extension treatment and was a bit skeptical thinking I may come out looking fake or overly done. Boy was I wrong! When I got up and saw the final results I almost fell over! My lashes looked PERFECT yet natural. It was the extra oomph I was looking for. I actually stalked Miss Knockout for a year or so before I made my first appointment. The first appointment was interesting as I never had extensions before and didn't know what to expect. But after I looked in the mirror, I was hooked. I had tried a few ladies there before I found my lash bae. All of the ladies do excellent work, but Mikaela, she gets me. We bond, we vibe, and my lashes turn out amaze balls every time. I literally tear up when she's booked, which is why I'm booked out with her until December 2017. I get a fill every 3 weeks because I am not only anal but I truly enjoy Mikaela's spirit. I have turned so many people on to Mikaela and no one has ever left disappointed. And if they had, I would just tell them to call and speak with Kimmie, and she would get them right. She's understanding and stands behind her brand which I respect. Being a licensed esthetician myself, I usually look at cleanliness (meaning, if they wash their hands, if tools are free of dirt and dust, are things in order, if the tools are properly sanatized or disposed of) before I go to any appointment in any beauty establishment. I was referred to Miss Knockout by a friend and co-worker. I have light lashes and even lighter eye brows so I had the total eye makeover with top and bottom lashes, brow wax and tint, and under eye treatment. It was fantastic and a great birthday present for myself! My before and after pictures show the difference (I'm the blond with the chest tattoo.) It's been about a week and a half since my appointment, I've had a few lashes shed, but my lashes still look full and super long. I'm so glad I was referred to Miss Knockout! I have received tons of compliments about my eyes! ProTip: If you don't wear a ton of eye make up, like me, this is a great investment. I've been going to Miss Knockout for about 2 years; here's my comments: I used to go to another top-tier lash extension place, but after six months, I developed an allergy to the adhesive. I'm not even kidding, the staff at my old salon were like "oh well, nothing we can do, nice knowing you". Not willing to give up my addiction to having Bridgette Bardot eyelashes 24/7, I researched until I found a highly rated place that would use a sensitive formula adhesive. I called Miss Knockout and explained my allergy problem with the lash glue. Soon I met the amazingly talented Kalina, who did a few test lashes (free of charge!); and it worked--no more sneezing or stuffy nose. Now I have long, fluffy lashes again, and actually the cost is about 20% lower than where I used to go! Other things I love about Miss K include the lovely atmosphere. The waiting area is plush, and the bathroom is like a mini-spa. And their staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for my scheduled appt either. I can't think of too many cons, aside from parking can be hard to find, and there's no great pubtrans options. So take my advice, and give yourself plenty of time to get there. They will still see you if you're late, but only until your scheduled appt. end time. Oh, and book in advance because they fill up fast! I'm also pleased to say that more than a few "beauty professionals" have commented on my gorgeous but natural looking eyelashes. I've even referred a few of them! read more

I'm changing my review today, after visiting this place happily for the last several months.... I have a 16month old daughter and I am a stay at home mom. My appointments here have been my one and only opportunity to treat myself. I had an appointment scheduled for today; I was waiting at my house with my daughter for the babysitter to show up. 10 min after she was supposed to be here, I received a call from her saying she was sick and would not be able to make it. So in a panic, I called anyone I could think of to watch my daughter for a couple hours... The time of my appointment came, so I called the salon. I told them my deliema, and asked if I could reschedule. I was told they would charge me for the entire cost of the appointment. Since my appointment was several hours long, I told them, I can't really afford that...so I'm on my way. Apparently, none of the stuck up rude bitches that work at this place have children, as I was told I couldn't bring my daughter. SURE ENOUGH, before the time slot of my appointment had even finished, there was a charge on my man's bank card. I HAVE BEEN SUPPORTING THIS BUSINESS SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS A MONTH FOR A WHILE NOW, AND THEY DON'T HAVE BASIC HUMAN DECENCY TO ACCOMODATE TO THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS. I must say, I WILL NOT MISS THE SNOBBY/ BETTER THAN EVERYONE ATTITUDE I ALWAYS SENSED THE MIN I WALKED INTO THAT PLACE. I will tell everyone and ANYONE to never support this business.. The moment I walked through the doors, I was hopeful that my lashes were going to be as luxurious as the salon decor, but unfortunately, Miss knockout left me feeling disappointed. First, I always arrived early but never got started until 5-10 minutes past my appointment. Second, I saw four different stylists, and they all had an unpleasant attitude, except for Chelsea, she was very kind. I do not deny customer service is hard, and I don't expect everyone to be overly bubbly all the time, but when most of the stylists make me feel like a burden I assume, that's the type of employee that this salon attracts. Each stylist also failed to take the time to discuss what kind of look I envisioned; instead, they made me feel rushed. I would have preferred for them to talk with me about how they are going to map out my lashes and make sure that's the look I wanted before getting started. I consistently asked for cat-eye, but never felt satisfied with the results. Third, there was a lack of education about how to properly care for my lashes. When I saw the owner for my first full set, I felt like there should have been more precise instructions on how to care for my lashes. She didn't seem to want to give me much information, so I started asking a bunch of questions, and she seemed slightly annoyed that I had so many questions. After doing some digging around on their website, I found a list of aftercare tips, which she failed to tell me was available. The owner also sold me an eyelash cleanser and told me to use it once a week, but then I had another stylist say I should be doing more and should be using a foaming cleanser to wash my lashes, so the mixed information also left me feeling confused. Also, nowhere on their website did they inform me I must be cautious around heat like when I am cooking on the stove or opening an oven. Fourth, I was not satisfied after my first refill, but I didn't complain and decided to book my next appointment with a more advanced stylist. Six days after my 2nd refill, I called Miss Knockout, saying I was unhappy with how my lashes were looking. My lashes looked uneven, all clumped together, twisted around, not pretty. So I asked if there was any way someone could fix them. Once I got to my appointment, the owner proceeds to tell me that it's my fault because I apparently damaged them from intense heat. I was puzzled because it's not like I was hanging around a bonfire or sticking my head inside an oven. I do cook and bake, which maybe could have caused some damage, but I was never given any warning from their stylists or on their website. Then the owner told me we had to take all my lashes off and apply a new set. I agreed, thinking she wouldn't charge me since I complained within one week of getting my last fill. Then halfway through my appointment, she tells me she's out of time and needs to have another stylist work on my lashes. Then while the other stylist was working on my lashes, she tells me she doesn't have time to finish, and I will have to come back in a few days to get them done. The owner said I would receive a discount, but I still ended up paying almost $100, including tip when I just had them refilled last week, and that doesn't even include the appointment they wanted me to come back to finish up my lashes. Overall, Miss Knockout has potential, but for now, I would recommend taking your money elsewhere. read more

**Update** the owner contacted me regarding my review and was able to book me out for appts which was nice! She was very professional and understanding, which I appreciate! They do an amazing job and I love the volume! However, people book out appts one year at a time and make it virtually impossible to get in within a month. They typically have a 6 week wait and if you wait more than 3-4 weeks, you have to get them completely redone instead of as a fill. I've been a customer since April but now have to find a different salon due to booking issues. I highly recommend they come up with a better scheduling system and/or hire more people to keep up with the demand. I'm no longer recommending them to anyone since they don't even have openings for their regular clients. read more

I just moved to the Portland area and needed a fill for lashes that I have had for over a year. I made an appointment as a result of research and Yelp reviews. I was very disappointed with my fill to say the least. To start with parking is tough in the area and it felt like my car would be broken into, this is not unusual in Portland so I will give them a pass on this aspect. However, when you walk into the very nice reception area you are met with a sign to "remove your shoes" before walking on the carpet?? Honestly, it took a beautiful space and made it feel unwelcoming. If you decide to use a light color rug in your reception area plan for it to get dirty. This area is a communal space and not your home, clients should not be told by a sign in BOLD to remove shoes to sit on the couch. Again, not welcoming, but if the lashes are great I can overlook this. The woman who I booked with was friendly, but when I asked if I could get dark brown lashes, she said no, that the owner does not like them and would not consider stocking them, even if I was a regular client.. Okay, once again not exactly customer friendly... I booked an hour fill and left with about 10-15 lashes total. Honestly, not much different then when I arrived. Could not believe it. Not sure what she was doing for an hour. Once again she was very nice, but honestly, on top of the fill they charged me a "New Client" add on price. So the fill for minimal lashes was over $100. Within a week I had no lashes at all because the minimum lashes that she applied just fell off. I don't know what the great reviews are based on, this was just a disappointing, waist of money. I ended up two weeks later driving by a spot in SE, made and appointment for a fill and because I literally had no lashes on one side she had to apply a full new set. I am so glad I found the other center as I thought I would just have to ditch the lashes that I love. Long story short Miss Knockout seems to be focused only on making money and is not customer service oriented. The employees do not seem happy with the owner and after the cold atmosphere that I experienced it must not be a nice place to work. Since moving to Portland this has been my first truly unpleasant experience with people not being above and beyond kind. read more

First off, I LOVE the aesthetician, Jeni here. She the BEST. I followed her here from a few other salons. This place though has upset me on a few occasions but I never said anything. After today, I decided it was time! First off, I'm not sure if it's the owner or managers dog, but last time I was in, it peed right on the carpet! Gross! Isn't there a state rule against that as far as hygiene goes in a waxing/lash place? The front desk people aren't overly friendly. The biggest thing I have a problem with is that today I came down with the flu, had a high fever & called in to tell them I couldn't come in & got this text message: "Hi Tara, just received your voicemail. I'm sorry you are not feeling well! Unfortunately due to our cancellation/rescheduling policy we will have to charge you for today's services since you are cancelling same day. If you would like to handle payment over the phone or text we can proceed that way, let me know what works best for you." What!? I asked the manager to call me. He did. He said he would waive the fee THIS time but he was rude and snarky to me. I told him I didn't think that was the way you should treat customers & he told me he didn't think the salon was the right "fit" for me. He's right! Here's my response: I don't even know who this lady is because I spoke to a MAN, a rather condescending man, in fact!? I don't know where all these dates are coming from about me cancelling at the exact time of my appointment? I won't deny there have been other times I have rescheduled my appointments, as people have to do, but not in the drastic way this lady is making me sound. As far as threatening? All I said was that I didn't hear back from management, I'd write a bad review, then when the owner WAS rude, I told him I would write a review. No "threat", just a fact. Consumers deserve to know. I always rely on Yelp & my friends to find good services. It doesn't really matter, it just solidifies the FACT the ownership/management is terrible & now I know is dishonest, because I did in FACT speak to a man, and to whoever this lady is....you don't have to tell me not to come back, I won't ever spend a penny there & will tell people my experience. read more

I came here specifically due to the Yelp reviews. I am pretty sure I won't return. The esthetician made me uncomfortable, her "bedside manner" was horrible. I had never had lash extensions before so keeping my eyes shut was hard, and to hear her sighs of disappointment as my eyes twitched made it even harder. I am pretty easy going and tried my best to lighten the situation but I was very uncomfortable, and I am not 100% happy with the turn out, I have eyelash chunks in spots. The 3 stars are for the reception gal, and the fact that I appreciate the skill it takes to do the job of applying lashes. I get it. But it's a weird experience and I think one should make the customer feel at ease in an awkward situation. read more
