This was around 4:13 pm on a Saturday. We order three smorrebrod and we ate them in the Tivoli food hall. All were served on plates. The correct way to eat was with a fork and knife as we learned while watching an episode of Somebody Feed Phil. The chicken salad was undoubtedly our favorite. Lots of shredded chicken but overall smooth and tasty. We crumbled the bacon to add some texture and that was even better. The marinated salmon was ok but we liked the nice pop of flavor from the pomegranate seeds. I may try to add them at home to my smoked salmon. The egg and shrimp smorrebrod was tastier. We returned our empty plates back to the counter when we were finished. Not completely in love with open face sandwiches but may try again on a future return trip to Copenhagen.

You can find Hallernes on the fifth floor of the shopping mall. We got there later in the day and there was still an array of toast options - some vegetarian, others pescatarian and others with a heaping of meat on top. We enjoyed the tartar, lemon & dill shrimp and the traditional pork toast. Each was somehow better than the next. Everything was so fresh which really enhanced the contrast of flavors on our plates. We liked it so much we contemplated going back and ordering more! We sat in the dining area to eat, which had a high chair available. We also got a window seat which had a beautiful view of the square below and some stunning architecture. We sat there for awhile just enjoying the view. When we were flying out of the Copenhagen airport we noticed this same restaurant inside one of the terminals. It's awesome to see such high quality food be offered in such casual but busy spaces. We'll definitely be back!

We tried Grød at two locations: the Torvehallerne market and at 7Eleven. The market, I ordered the Oat Porridge which came with apples, roasted almonds and caramel sauce, my mom had the All In! and my dad had the oat waffle. All of us (mostly) left satisfied. My picky father loved his waffle. And I really enjoyed the porridge I had. The oats perfectly cooked, the apples and almonds gave it a nice textural contrast. Plus the caramel, which was more like a dulce de leche added the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet. My mom was a bit ambivalent because the All In was too sweet. But to be fair, All In includes all of their toppings. Including chocolate and caramel so her assessment was fair! The Grød at 7Eleven had this wonderful chia pudding, layered with yogurt, natural peanut butter, a berry compote and nuts and I was obsessed. So simple, yet so wholesome. I found a cup at the airport and proceeded to import it back to the States. Overall, it was definitely worth a visit (or 2) to have my mind blown. Grød may not have intended it but this lil Westerner is now leveling up her oats game thanks to their menu!

It's especially nice in beautiful weather. It was a mix of locals and tourists. I'd say mostly locals since the bicycles were lined up in many rows near the bridge. It was hopping on a Friday evening, but not as wildly crowded as it was on a Saturday afternoon. People love it! I initially wanted to try Kejser Sausage & Gasoline Grill. Rørt Smørrebrød was also calling to me. There were so many different things that we wanted to try. However, it was smell of grilled steak at Fuego Street Grill that won our hearts. That sandwich was absolutely delicious! We also grabbed a pint of beer at Broens Bar. I told my husband to get me anything that appeals to him. He brought me an IPA. Lol! I don't typically like IPAs. But, this one was actually very good. It was the Broens IPA from the local Flying Couch Brewery. It was smooth and less bitter than others I've had. I real liked the flavor of this one. He picked out a winner! We also went for a dessert crepe at Crêpes à la Cart. They make them to order in an open food truck where you can see it all being made. The vanilla sugar crepe was perfect, but huge. I couldn't eat it all. My husband had a chocolate that he really liked. It was a very relaxing evening at Broens Street Food. The walk to get there from our hotel in Christianshavn was so peaceful as we crossed over lesser known bridges and fancy restaurants. It's a beautiful & quiet area until you get to Broens. It's such an appropriate location since it's at the end of that island's harbor. Don't miss it if you happen to be staying anywhere near it. It's only a bridge away from Nyhavn. We're so happy we found it. I can't wait to experience it again in the future.

The outdoor seating is ample and it's nice that it's covered, since Copenhagen has plenty of rain. I intentionally planned my 2 days in Denmark around this area, with my hotel and the sites I wanted to visit within walking distance. The current station building opened in 1911, with a major overhaul in 1980 including elevators, escalators and a new station concourse. It has 7 platforms and 13 tracks, making it the largest train station in Denmark. With 100,000 travelers per day, it is the second busiest in the country. Getting to it from the airport required taking the M2 line, transferring at Kongens Nytorv to the either the M3 or M4 line to get here. The journey took a little over 30 minutes, and the trains were relatively crowded on both the inbound and outbound. The cost was (30,00 DKK - $4.69 USD converted) for the one way. There are no gates of any sort, and I didn't see any security doing ticket checks. Read on-line that fines could be substantial. Since the trains to the airport run so frequently, didn't have a chance to admire/partake of the station. On my next longer visit, will linger a bit more.
