** WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER LIVED... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
When I moved here 3 years ago I thought I was moving into a gated community. That was my first mistake, assuming that the gates worked. They do not. They have been functional for a total of 1 week in the time I have lived here.
When I moved here, I moved here with a car and a scooter. I no longer have a scooter. I parked it where I was told by management after they refused to issue me a 2nd parking sticker (only one per unit even if it is a 2 bedroom). They then removed my scooter from the property without notifying me. They stole it if you will. $1000 loss right there.
There used to be a fountain in one of the ponds here. A year or so ago it apparently broke. Of course it was not repaired or replaced.
Last year during the worst of Summer, my AC broke. Over the course of two months and 6 attempts to repair it later... and me being without AC for a combined 3 weeks, they finally relented and put in a new air handler.
This month my kitchen flooded. They brought a plumber out who let me know how their company hated coming out here because of the known issues (property has not been updated... See AC issue). 3 days of backed up bacteria laden water all over everything in my kitchen and with the apartment smelling terribly. Finally it was cleaned up. I asked for a nominal 50 dollar credit for my time and for the damage to my possessions. Lol... what was I thinking? That was a hell no.
Let us talk about the windows for a sec. they don't keep the water out. Is that important to you? I let management know of the floods in my living room especially after severe storms. They would not fix them. As a result there is significant damage to the main living room wall where there in no doubt mold and rot behind it. The plaster and paint has bubbled.
By the way... there is NO parking here. Usually I have to park a building or two down and haul groceries from there. Maybe that is why the restriction on one sticker/vehicle per unit. Also trash is one bin in the complex which you will drive to.
If you move here, expect a lot of notices on your door. Many are threatening... such as the consequences for celebrating 4th of July (that is a big NO NO)... Or just another one letting you know they will be entering your apartment again to look around. They really like to do that a lot. I know they are supposed to give a 24 hour notice... but 12 hours is all I get sometimes.
By the way, thankfully I was never late on rent. If you move here however, make sure you aren't either! After the 3rd of the month there is a $100 fine. But that is only good for a couple days. They start the eviction process with the Sheriff and all 10 to 14 days into the month.
In summary... in the 20 years that I have been renting, this is hands down the worst place I have lived. I am finally leaving. I only wish I could have found a suitable replacement much, much sooner.
** Quick Update: I forgot to mention... the police are here all the time. That should tell you something. Immediately after posting this review I left to run some errands. And of course the police are outside again. So I snapped a quick photo and added it. Just another day at good 'ole Mission Bay read more
