My wife and i ate at the Bel Air location Saturday evening and we were impressed. Greeted at the counter by Brendan, he explained how the menu is laid out. A very friendly and patient young man. You order at the counter, you fill your drinks, find a table and wait for them to call your name. Once called you go up to the counter and pick up your metal tray(s) of food. It wasn't overly busy, our food was ready quickly. All fresh and good. We had the three meat meals. (5 between us). The brisket is killer, moist and smoked perfectly. The turkey moist, the pulled pork and pulled chicken just right and the classic 41 sausage skin to something like kielbasa, but not quite. It was good though. There are six sauces of every ilk on the table to choose from, all good. The sides were baked beans (make sure you try these), flavorful with bits of brisket, macaroni and cheese, the right amount of creamy cheesiness, and fresh (not sitting under a heat light) French fries. Dip them in the baked bean sauce, sinful. The collard greens my wife had were cooked just right, but were too salty( the only disappointment). Cornbread was really good and moist. The General Manager, Dan, having overheard that it was our first time there, brought over complimentary dessert among a couple other things. It was cheesecake served in a cup. This is not the dense "Junior's" cheesecake I'm accustomed too. It was creamy with the graham cracker crust sprinkled on the bottom of the cup. Impressive. Even better the food was plentiful enough to give us each a meal for leftovers. The staff very welcoming, the tables clean and well tended to, country music playing not too loudly capped off by really good barbecue makes this a newfound destination for us. So tonight we decided to try something different, let's order a cheeseburger. A smoked cheeseburger at that. My expectations were so high given its hard to find something not likable at Mission BBQ. Tonight I found out that a smoked cheeseburger is more like dense meatloaf and nothing like, the grilled burgers I grew up on. The floor manager noticed I was struggling and offered to swap my meal out for me. This was a blessing and now I know the smoked burger isn't for me despite looking amazing. Food is great. Only issue I had, with it being my first time visiting with a take out order, is that when you order online the staff wants you to wait in line at the register to pick up your food. There's no designated pick up area. There IS pick up parking but they don't bring your order to your car. If I waited in line I would be waiting for close to 10-15 mins when my food was already prepared and ready to go. The pick up/online orders should be placed somewhere for people to grab. I even asked where to pick up food and didn't get a response so I waited in front of where the food was prepared. The man that helped me was nice and gave me my order but said next time I need to wait in line. If I have to wait in line I might as well not even do an online pick up order and just order at the counter. read more

This is one of my boyfriends favorite places to eat. I have never been, but I love BBQ. We both got an XXL Combo. Our meals came out to $33. I felt that was a little expensive for what it was. But they do send some of their money to people in the service. The staff was very friendly and they give out strawberry shortcakes sometimes. They have 6 kinds of BBQ sauces from Missouri, Mississippi, Texas, Maryland, Tennessee and Louisiana (I think). They were all unique and I loved them all. The lean brisket is my favorite it is always good. I enjoyed the Mac and cheese and cornbread as well. When you add butter to the cornbread it takes it to another level. The green beans were ok but a little too salty for me. The man Brian came over and asked how was everything and he noticed I didn't eat much turkey and allowed me to try my favorite which was the lean brisket and I even got to try the Alabama white sauce. Ok ok, everything is amazing but their salads...THE END! Well I wish that could be it because seriously their food is so delicious even though now I don't eat meat, they offer salmon now!! So win win for us all unless you are Vegan, then the only thing they have to cater is salad and their salad is not my favorite at all. The service of this location is fabulous! On par with several of the other locations. Their sides are delicious. Beware their green beans do have bacon and the baked beans have brisket in them. The Mac and cheese is always perfect, they have cole slaw, French fries, and a seasonal choice. Their desserts are super sweet but delicious as well. I have had their bread pudding, and the cobblers they have offered thus far. No complaints. They have several different drinks and they offer a BIG yellow cup called the American hero's cup for $4.99 and refills are .99 cent. They do offer an kids menu and catering! After orders were placed (more so carry out) most people stood near the front waiting for their name to be called. A lot of people gathered near the fountain drink area. I saw a lady who wanted to fill up her cup, but decided to wait instead of bumping shoulders with the crowd. Customer service was on point! As busy as this place was, each customer was greeted with a smile. The food expediter ensured to go over each order with the customer in front of them. The interaction between customers and staff was very nice. Interior and exterior was very clean. I ordered the fatty (or moist as they call it) brisket. I thought it was $11.99 per pound, but it's per 1/2 pound (I'll be honest, I don't really look at menu prices like I should) Brisket had a good flavor, but it was a touch too salty. My order came with a side of cornbread that was a bit dry, but did have a good flavor. I do prefer a sweeter cornbread. With a score of 22.5 out of 25 stars, I give his location an A- rating. With so many dining options in my area, I will say that I will be back again, but not for a while. One thing I love about Mission BBQ is the consistency of food, service, and cleanliness no matter which location I'm at. The one in Bel Air is no exception, with staff that often knows you by face (I go often), and consistently great food, this is my go to place for comfort food. That said, the only minor issue is the sweet tea: at any given time the tea can be a hit or miss. Sometimes the tea is too bland, and sometimes the tea is not sweet at all. There needs to be some kind of QA on what is otherwise an A+ experience. read more

I went to Mission BBQ Belair today and had an absolutely wonderful experience - food, service, excellent staff, and a wonderful dining experience. When we first arrived we stopped to take a look at the menu board since we hadn't been in before. Brendan, our wonderful cashier, came out from behind the counter and talked to us about all the different options available. He was so kind and patient and just excellent! After placing our order we had our food in under a minute and another staff member gave us our food and since it was our first time in told us about the cooking process how everything is smoked and made fresh in the restaurant. After sitting down, Brendan came to our table and the restaurant gave us a a special treat since it was our first time in. They impressed us the whole time and we will definitely be back again soon. I have really enjoyed the Mission BBQ locations all around my area. This time we were in the Perry Hall, Md. area and decided to have dinner there. The greeter was over the top hyper...very aggressive and impatient. It started the entire visit on the wrong foot. My fiance was so rattled by his demeanor that she totally forgot what she wanted and I had to help her order. Finally I had to tell him to slow down. Now the food. I got the combination with three meats: sausage, pulledpork and moist brisket with Cole slaw and corn bread My girl got the dry brisket with Cole slaw and cornbread. The bill for the two of us was over $45.00. My food was ok except for stale corn bread. My fiance's meal was absolutely terrible. The dry brisket was so dry and tremendously salty that it was inedible. I eat a lot and am generally happy when she can't finish something. Also I love brisket. Well, even I couldn't stomach the dry and salty meat. I mentioned it to one of the bus boys and he apologized and offered something else. We passed because we had a time constraint.
