This is one of my son's favorite restaurants. The food is consistently great. I do love BBQ and this place has some good food. Something for everyone. My daughter loves the quicken. My son loves the pulled pork. The last time we were there I had the steak, just to try something different... although I was full, I found myself wanting more. Speaking of that, my 7 year old went back for seconds. Every time we are there, one of the staff members comes by and clears our table and refills our drinks. My husband and I ordered two combos from here and for the most part it was good. I had the brisket with mac & cheese, corn bread and lemonade, my husband had the pulled chicken sandwich with mac & cheese and green beans. I love that their meat has that authentic, smokey BBQ flavor. The only issue we had was the green beans, it tasted like someone had dumped salt on it! My husband couldn't even eat it, so I told him I'd take it, because I like my food a little more salty than he does, but it was gross! The green beans were just inedible, I've never eaten anything that salty, so I hope it was a mistake that they gave us such overly salted food! That one side dish won't turn us off from returning to the restaurant, but we won't be ordering the green beans ever again. read more

I love this place...I had not had BBQ in a while and what I had simply was not that good. A friend of mine suggested that I try Mission, and I was pleasantly surprise. We had the Pork Brisket Combo and it was fantastic. I asked the manager if the chicken was good as well, so that I would try it the next time I was in. Well, they gave me a huge sample(almost a meal) and it was very good as well. Now, I realize that may not be great for the P&L, but it was a great way to answer my question. They advertise Texas brisket, but I have had much better. Brisket was okay, but a little dry and I ordered the "moist". It was also expensive, over $17 a pound. The menu prices are listed in half pounds and I did not realize this. 2 lbs. Of Brisket and 3 small sides was $44. The fries are very good as were the green beans. I will go back and try something other than Brisket next time. Visited on a Sunday about 11:45am and ordered to go, by the time we left, all the tables were full and the would not have been any place to sit. Would be nice if they had a drive thru. My family and I were visiting the area and someone mentioned Mission BBQ. As soon as we pulled up we knew this place was different, in a good way. We immediately saw that they had to be military minded and supportive. When we walked inside you could see the passion and community support; it to mention as soon as you open the door you could smell the smokiness. The friendliness of the staff was top notch. It is military week and I missed the day that was for the branch I served in. The guy who took our order and took care of us was so generous that he gave us the meal we would've received the prior day. I can honestly say my wife and I tried to hold back from being overcome with emotion as we were leaving. I've already started to tell others about this place. Amazing. This is second location I tried (also one on Bruce B Downs in Tampa) and I'm impressed! So far I've only tried the pulled pork NC style. Their pulled pork is DELICIOUS. Love their extensive choice of sauces. I consider myself pretty saucy. Also, the customer service is excellent! So courteous, quick and competent. We came by here as we were passing through town and I'm so glad we did! The food was really good; I split the 3/4 pound of pulled pork and really enjoyed it. The cornbread was delicious. Our meal was amazing. I had the half-chicken and it was the most moist chicken I've ever had. So incredibly tasty! I had the green beans as a side and they were *almost* as good as my grandma's. Went for my first visit and went because of their support for military, first responders, teachers, nurses and veterans. The decor was the first evidence they meant what they advertised. I thanked them for what they do for us and the reply was "You don't have to thank us, we thank you!" And ... they were not just words. We were treated great. I had ribs and the meat slid right off the bone with plenty of flavors. Ribs can dry out for that effect, but not these. This was my first time here and was very impressed. Feel free to ask them to sample their meats before ordering, as they will happily offer to do so. All of their meats are very flavorful (as I sampled the pulled pork and pulled chicken), but I ended up going with the sliced brisket (oak flavored) as I was told by a fan favorite that the oak- flavored (there are two kinds of sliced brisket to choose from) was the most tender and a little fatty. I am glad I went with the suggestion as it was so delicious. I also ordered the green beans with bacon, perfectly made! The meal came with cornbread- I took 4 small bites (trying to eliminate/curb my carb intake) and it was very good (not dry like others i have tried). I so badly wanted to order the banana pudding, as it's a favorite of mine, but was trying to be good (no/curb my sugar too). I was lucky enough to get to try a co-worker of mine's banana pudding instead (had a spoonful) and have to say it's the best I have tried (I love Sonny's banana pudding and will admit it tasted better). It was not too sweet and had a great balance of all the ingredients combined together. The barbecue sauces aren't too sweet and have a vinegar base to them. I liked it very much but not my husband. I am truly torn on this BBQ place. First let me say that meat was cooked excellently. I had a brisket and pulled pork combo platter and both were tender and juicy with a good flavor. The sides were good as well. I tried the mac & cheese and some of my wife's fries and both were good. Buuuuuut the problem is the sauces...nothing stands out at all. They have on the table six different sauces all depicting different regions bbq flavors such as Kansas City, Texas, & Memphis. Which would have been good but they were not traditional and had twists to them all. While it was fun trying them all. Usually in this type of trial at other BBQ places you find one that rises above all the rest. I never found that as they were all just ok. Tip though there is a spicy sauce that was the best one that I found that they keep near the napkins and don't advertise like the rest at your table and it was the best. So great meat but you gotta have the sauce too and Mission's take on them didn't make me want to rush back for more. read more
