My meal was definitely delicious and it satisfied my BBQ craving. I also had sweet tea (which I havent had in years!) and it did not disappoint. The prices are a little on the high side compared to your portions but its definitely doable. The second time I came here, it was 3 stars. The pulled pork wasnt all that great, the sweet tea was still good but the cornbread was hard and the greens looked like soup. It was a very meh experience but the service was still great. We literally stumbled upon Mission BBQ when we were on our way back from Lake Wales and starving. We then tried them a second time recently on a trip home from Orlando. They are not the best BBQ in Tampa, but they are a solid choice. The location is close to I-75, I-4, and Veterans. The food is fast and tasty. Their prices are decent. It is the perfect dinner for someone that is exhausted and starving. I have tried the pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs, collard greens, and green beans. The meat has a lot of flavor. It is smoked well. I love the pulled chicken because it isn't boiled and shredded like some places do. It is real smoked chicken that is then pulled into edible chunks. The ribs are also dynamite. They come without sauce. With the deep smoked flavor, you don't really need any. I also love that you can order just one rib (which is what I generally do as an add on). They have 6 BBQ sauces and a handful of other condiments available. The BBQ sauces are named by regions. As another reviewer mentioned, they aren't that impressive. Honestly, you could probably get away without BBQ sauce since the meat is so flavorful. I normally use a little. The collard greens could use a little work. I add a lot of hot sauce and pepper to them to make them taste better. However, the green beans have a lot of flavor. They are cooked down with bacon. I don't have to add anything to them. Overall, I am happy that I know about Mission BBQ as an option in Brandon. It hits the spot at the end of a road trip. I will be back again. read more

Holy cow. What a great place!! Obviously with these difficult times due to the corona virus it's hard finding great food and great service. We got both of these here! We ordered two sandwiches and had vouchers for them to be free (which made us feel guilty using them during this time) but we go in, order them, and went back to buy a cheer wine and they told us to not worry about it with a smile on their faces. Not only did we feel welcomed, we had our day made. Also it was so clean, a great atmosphere and above and beyond customer service. I recommend anyone coming here. We were there during a Jeep Krewe meet and had never been here before. BBQ is so tricky. So many places that are so bad. Meat is often over cooked, dry, and sauces either bland or way too hot. My wife has food sensitivities, meaning they showed up on allergy tests and will upset her stomach but not bad enough to block her airways so even more tricky when ordering. She ordered the pulled chicken plain for her and brisket sandwich to go. First the food. AMAZING! Chicken and brisket was tender and juicy, perfectly cooked, and the marinade they use is unbelievable. The sauces are also incredible. Not too spicy unless you order the spicy one, not too sweet, very flavorful. Very impressed. But the following is just as important. When they called her name, the manager (Steve) was handing out the food and opened each box to show her and make sure it was what we ordered. My wife saw seasonings on chicken and asked about it as it didn't look plain. Looked like it had sauce on it. He explained that it was marinated in mayo based sauce and pulled his iPad to show her all the ingredients. She explained food sensitivities and asked if she could swap for something else. He helped her find something looking at all ingredients on iPad and went with sliced brisket. He was so understanding and helpful. Never made her feel as if she was a bother even though they were busy. He said to ask for him next time we came in to make sure everything was done to avoid her allergies. WOW. Now THAT is customer service you don't see anymore. Bravo. We will coming back because of that and of course, the amazing food. We have been back and he remembered her. Very nice! Pre Thanksgiving Day miracle! We planned on eating Dinner a day early due to my step Son going with his Father for the actual holiday. Mission is my go-to restaurant for BBQ meats. This year I decided to order a Turkey from Popeye's, thinking that it was already cooked and ready to enjoy however, to my surprise, it was frozen solid. So now I am scrambling to salvage early TG Dinner. I call Mission to ask if they have any unfulfilled orders for Turkey, "Sorry sir we have none left" I end the call dejected, and then my cell rings and it is Nick Connor ( Managing Partner) on the other end saying, "Mark, we have an extra Turkey for you". As an Army Veteran and former certified Fire Fighter the theme and decor of this restaurant made me very happy! When trying any new BBQ place I always get a Pulled Pork Sandwich so that they can all be compared equally. I also ordered Peach Cobbler, Baked Beans, Mac N Cheese, Brownie, and Sweet Tea. I had my kids with me so I don't have photos of the Brownie or Mac N Cheese but they absolutely loved them. I tried them and agreed they were good. The Mac N Cheese tasted like Velveeta Shells with Elbow Noodles that was baked but beats the other restaurants serving EasyMac. The Brownie was mega-sized but also moist and delicious. My Pulled Pork Sandwich was good. I think the meat could have been seasoned more but it wasn't fatty or soggy which was a Major Plus. The bun was also soft which is a Plus. I covered mine in their Memphis Belle sauce because I like sweet BBQ and in my world SAUCE IS BOSS. That made or a messy and excellent sandwich. The Peach Cobbler was amazing. My oldest child finally decided to try cobbler after all these years and now at 11 years old after eating yours she is hooked. I also had the Baked Beans that I didn't prefer myself but I know I am picky. They weren't bad the flavor just wasn't my liking. I did add some Memphis Belle sauce to them and that made them alot better. There are large pieces of brisket in the bowl which was a nice surprise. The sweet tea was also very delicious and didn't have a tin taste like many other places do. We will definitely be returning more often! read more

I laughed when I saw their daily special was the "Ricky Bobby" - shake & bake chicken. I didn't get that, but it did put a smile on my face. I decided to go with the pulled chicken. It was delicious, but a little fatty. Their cornbread was just the right balance of sweet and salty. This is now top of the list of my BBQ favorites, and i have tried probably 30+ in the last few years. A very good menu roster, with all the BBQ standards and sides with many more sauce choices and sodas, including hard to find ones like RC cola and orange Crush. I got the very juicy, flavorful chopped brisket sandwich which came drenched in Memphis smoke sauce, stacked high. Excellent smoked pork & Beans. Also was surprised by a complimentary apple cobbler because I am a vet. Ordering/paying at counter was easy, and food was ready quickly so fine for short lunch breaks. This is definitely a patriot/vet/first responder place with walls adorned with military patches, uniforms, helmets, photos, memorabilia including police and firefighter gear. At noon they play the national anthem and invited guests to sing along. Not all sang and a few did not place their hand on heart, but no one was silly enough to "take a knee."
