I am blown away at how good this place is! I've always been familiar but I've never actually had the chance to come here. Immediately upon walking in you can smell the Smokey flavors brewing!! The young lady at the front desk was super helpful, as a first timer I had no idea what to order and I'm a bit indecisive when it comes to food! Not only was she super patient but she recommended some great items and even threw in a free dessert since it was my first time. So let's go ahead and rate everything! The turkey was a 20 out of 10! Seriously some of the best smoked turkey I've tasted and it was super moist and it pairs nicely with the mesquite bbq sauce(TRUST ME). I also ordered the Mac & Cheese and I'd say it was a solid 8.5 out of 10. I'm a fan but it felt like it was missing a little something but overall just a great taste. The collard greens were delicious! Sweet but not overly done and I really loved that they didn't add meat and just kept it simple with peppers! Very good. The cornbread tasted like my mom was back there making it from scratch. Seriously good! Now for the grand finale? The peach cobbler!!! Are you serious?? This was sooooo good! The peaches, the crust? I mean it deserves an award. Overall probably some of the best dessert I've had in a long time! This place has a new fan and weekly customer, it's worth every penny, and I'm happy it's not far from home! I ordered to go and the service was beyond quick and food was hot even when I got home. Wifey and I dined at Mission BBQ to use my free sandwich reward. We both ordered moist brisket and added fries, collard greens and banana pudding. Everything was fabulous. I prefer my fries on the crispy side, but I ate these anyways. We also got a piece of cornbread by accident and that didn't hurt my feelings. I had interaction with Ben, Manager and Gabriel, at register. They were very cordial and informative. A young lady came by our table and offered a free taste of cucumber and tomato salad. Rounded up from 3.5 to 4 Stars mainly because I really like the decor, atmosphere, and it's HUGE support of military and first responders. Bravo ! I know this is a chain. Maybe some locations are better than others, but this was my first experience. It's fast food; order at counter and they call your name when ready. THE FOOD..... I had the Brisket ( half Wet\half Dry). Seasoning was good but the Dry was a little too dry for me. At my companion's suggestion I also had the smoked salmon, Although smoked well, I should have known not to order Atlantic salmon as it is usually farm-raised and dries out easy. I stopped buying\ ordering it years ago ( only Pacific NW or Wild for me) It was very dried out. I didn't finish it. Corn bread was actually very good and the potato salad is the recipe with egg ( it's sort of yellow). It was good. Free refills on soda, sweet tea, lemonade, etc.. My wife & I stopped here on a whim. We drove past a couple of times that night, just seeing what was in the area. We usually split dinners and this was no exception. We got the sampler with brisket, pulled pork & sausage. I don't remember what sides we got (it's been awhile since we were there). Everything was outstanding!! I'm form Memphis so I hold BBQ to a higher standard, and well this fit the bill. I got a pulled pork sandwhich and fries, and much to my delight they came out rather quickly. The table has several styles of sauce for your choosing ranging from Memphis to hot and even NC style. If I had a complaint about the food: the bun wasn't soft. Sacrilege. Second. BBQ without bread, pickles & jalapeños? The horror. Everything is ala cart. Your meat only comes with a piece of corn bread. Order a sliced turkey plate like my wife and you can't even make a sandwich. Of course, there's plenty of sides to choose, but watch you $8 lunch blossom to $12-$15. I ordered pulled pork and brisket. The pork was lacking seasoning. The brisket had no bark. Neither the turkey, pork or brisket had any real smoke flavor. The meats were moist, tender and ample. They just needed real BBQ flavor. Still, Mission BBQ has its own charm. Every day at noon, customers stand and sing the national anthem. Veterans are regularly (and rightly) honored. Photos of veterans fill the walls. And, they have a roving ambassador named Dawn who flits from table to table making sure everyone has their expectations met. We ordered two meat plate with brisket, turkey, mac&chz, & green beans, and smoked ribeye (special of the day) with collard greens & smashed potatoes. I've been told they do a little ceremony at noon that fits with that theme. The only problem is their sauces. They have a good variety, including South Carolina mustard-based and North Carolina vinegar-based sauces. They have no go-to winner sauce. They are all mediocre at best. KC Classic is a close to a good sauce as they have. Texas Twang actually taste like Worcester sauce. Bay-B-Que has Old Bay seasoning. They are all weird to this Texas boy. Some dude without a mask kept inching closer and closer while I was picking up a carry out order. Not a single employee asked for him to mask up. The utensils were provided in bins in the counter. I watched a half a dozen hands fish out spoons, forks, and knives while leaving behind whatever contaminants were on their hands. As someone who truly critiques food just as much as atmosphere, Mission BBQ is top notch in all aspects. The ordering system is cafeteria style; order in a line, pick up your food, seat yourself. The decor is military/Americana themed, high ceilings have flags hanging, and there is a great variety of seating (high tops, booths, low top tables). Both visits so far I've ordered the smoked salmon, and it's by far one of the best salmon filets I've had; generous seasoning, moist, flaky, and in need of no tweaks. The green beans are delicious, spicy, and savory - highly recommend! The mac & cheese is creamy & wonderful. Every combo meal is accompanied with cornbread (on the sweeter side) and a fountain beverage, but I've been upgrading to a glass bottled Big Red for only 60 cents more. First time trying it with my wife and it was very average I would say. I had the brisket sandwich, while my wife wanted the brisket plate. Right off the bat they got our order wrong and gave us two sandwiches instead. We rolled with it, because it wasn't that huge of a difference to us. Out of the six sauces on the table the only good one in our opinion was the smoky mountain, however the brisket was a bit dry and chewy which didn't lead to the best experience. The fries however were excellent and probably the best part of the meal. I don't believe this would be a place we'd try again, but who knows. Mission BBQ is on a mission to serve sub-mediocre bbq to southern Indiana. I've tried eating at Mission 3 times now. When I go to a BBQ joint the first thing I get is the pulled pork. Why? It's basic, it's standard, every BBQ joint should be able to home run this one. If you can get the pulled pork right everything else should fall into place. Ordering a meat, 2 sides, and a drink ran me about $13. This is not a bad price for great BBQ....great bbq. At mission the pulled pork came on my plate and took the form of only what I can describe as a bell shaped jello mold. It looked gross and industrial like. Second thing that caught my eye was there were no pieces of charred outside or the nice red ring you get when smoking a piece of meat. My suspicions were confirmed when I dug into the meat mold of pork. It was totally bland and the meat had zero flavor. The menu claims slow smoked and hand pulled...one of those might have been true...maybe. The only pulling I experienced was someone pulling my leg this is actually BBQ that's smoked low and slow. No smoke flavor was found in the pork. I suspect this was either cooked in an oven or boiled. A smoker never touched this meat. BBQ should be able to stand up on it's on without sauce but this BBQ REQUIRED sauce for any flavor. There were several sauce selections to choose from, all were okay, not great. Instead of the sauce being used to accentuate the taste of the BBQ the sauces were the only taste of the BBQ. Until Mission BBQ makes it their mission to serve real smoked BBQ I'll make it my mission to avoid going at all costs. Sweet Tea 10/10 read more

We have eaten here twice and enjoyed the food and friendly people both times. The meat is tender and has a good flavor, as do the sides. Watch out for the potato salad though, it's a bit on the spicy side. There are six choices of sauces. You are sure to find one that you will like. The food is really good. This would be our number one choice for barbecue on the IN side of the river. If you're an adult, don't be afraid to order a kids meal. They allow that without giving you a look. The decor of the restaurant is of those who serve, as in military, police, fire,... I like looking at all of the different patches and photographs. I sat on a bench this last time that was made out of fire hoses. I thought that was pretty cool. It was donated by the Clarkesville fire department. I suppose I am fairly new to the realm of barbecue, as in Wisconsin (my home state), we have our state delicacies but no one's pretending to be meat smokers and be good at it. Oh you haven't tried that before? Ask for a sample, they'll give you one. They have a wide variety of sides and seasonal sites that change. The corn bread as fluffy and excellent I'm at cheat day for sure. This spot can meet all of your dietary needs: keto, low-carb, Paleo, whole 30, Etc. I personally always order pulled pork as it is my favorite. My dad enjoys the brisket. The next time we go out we might explore the ribs. They offer some many sauces but I have yet to try them, Meat so good didn't want to cover up the flavors. My husband and 3 adult children all did try the sauces and their favorites were Smoky Mountain, KC Classic and Bay-B-Que. Everyone I have come with all loved what they have got, from the Brisket Sandwich, Spare Ribs, Pulled chicken and pork. Their food is so wonderful, but also reason why 5 stars is because what they do they raise money by selling special cups and $2 of the $3 they sell for support nonprofit organizations they do for First responder, and Military. The cups change every few months so you can get several. Also want a special treat every day at Noon the National Anthem plays and EVERYONE stops what they are doing and stands in silent to honor those that have served in the Military or First responder. The walls are decked out with these same people they raising money for, and if you have anyone in your family that was a First responder or military you can bring in "COPIES" of their picture and they will hang them on the walls. Many working here are Veterans also, they are very big about hiring them. I learned a lot about them when their Community Ambassador (Judy Morgan) Came up to me when I was taking picture of the Solider's Creed. She told me so much about the company and all was wonderful. Being from a Military family and have family still serving I was so happy to see a company like this doing so much for our Men & Woman who lay down their lives everyday for us. My husband and I tried Mission Barbque for lunch today and were not disappointed. It's only been open 3 days and they are doing a great job. First off it's done "The American Way" as it says on their sign. And they really mean it! Everything about this place screamed 'MERICA! They have so many different sauces to try so you can have a taste of Kanas City, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and even Maryland! (And more) I loved this idea because since we like so many different styles of bbq we can have a different taste every time we visit. The meat was smoked to perfection. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my husband the brisket sandwich. They asked him if he wanted his brisket cooked lean or moist. Meaning fatty or not so fatty. We thought this was also a great idea because you never really get to choose and my husband loves it both ways. I knew my dad would like this place because he's not a fan of the fat on a brisket, but he loves brisket! Their fries and mac and cheese were awesome as well. The service was fast and super friendly as soon as we walked in the door. You can grab a bottle of soda, for a nostalgic feel, or get a fountain drink.
