I really like their BBQ but I recently tried the salmon and I am addicted! Their Mac and cheese and greens are outstanding. Tonight was the first time I took an order to go. It was ready super fast, packed very nicely and the employee who gave it to me was very professional and kind. Their current staff is really great and they care about the job they are performing. This is hands down... the SLOWEST Mission BBQ Injave ever been to. Came in at 1:50 PM on a Wednesday. I did not get my food until 2:04 PM, or 14 minutes later. Yes, it's a chain, but it's the kind of chain I'm always excited to discover on a road trip. The kids had macaroni and cheese and cornbread. The grownups had delicious smoked meats -- I had ribs this time, but I think the brisket is usually better -- with a wide variety of sauces. The NC pepper vinegar might be my favorite. Going to make this review based on one thing, and one thing only. They claim to be all about military, first responders, police, etc. As a 24 year veteran, I was looking forward to coming here. We have not been to Mission BBQ until today. It's Veterans Day so they were pretty, but the line moved quickly and the staff was super friendly. DH got the brisket sandwich and I got the pulled pork. The sauce was on the side instead of drowning the sandwich (thank you!!). The meat on both sandwiches was tender and moist. Our lunch was delicious. We will definitely be back. read more

I love the idea of restaurants that give back and I'm very particular about BBQ so some may think it's great, for me it was average at best. They ask if you want "moist" or "lean" brisket and I'm glad I asked for the moist brisket because it was a little dry. The turkey was good and I will probably give it another try sometime. read more

Four of us went in for lunch today. This is my first time here so what a surprise? I was just getting done with my brisket and my sister in law said, hey everybody get up it's national anthem time....what???? Very easy to recommend from the great location and accessible parking, large menu with plenty to appeal to the majority of appetites, and accommodating and friendly staff, only issues are quite high prices and rather noisy atmosphere. The brisket I had was phenomenal, extremely smooth and well done meat with pleasant moist texture and extra appetizing flavors. My buddy had a great dish with the special shrimp however as mentioned the prices are obnoxious for a couple sea bugs. This is a classic Southern chain done up right for the American fill up. I was sad to see little heat added to the house sauces but decent variety and good flavors to pour over my beef. Overall a definite must try for those seeking out good barbecue and wanting a hearty family dining experience. read more

Clean restaurant decorated with various military, police and fire insignia, plus some football jerseys and helmets. Each table has a selection of 6 different sauces, which was definitely different. Staff was friendly and polite , but music was loud and cashiers were soft spoken, which begs for problems with ordering. Barbecue was good, but not cheap...dropped $47 for what was really 2 meals, because sides are extra. Ordered 3 meats platter and added a salad after trying to figure out their method...lean vs moist is an indication of the fat. Their side salad and entree salad are the exact same price, but the entree salad is twice the size? Apparently we weren't the first ones to get confused because they put a second "side" salad on the platter when I questioned why it was smaller than the cashier showed us...and Be aware if you buy a HERO cup, you are actually making a donation...Now that I know the drill, definitely could make this a regular stop if I'm the area. read more

So I was going here with my gay friend hoping for some good BBQ as I'm from Texas, home of the best BBQ. I was entertained by the plastic flag on the door saying "All Rise!" and then reading that they regularly stand up and say the national anthem like China. But going in, we were so uncomfortable. The amount of bootlicking was insane. There were like maybe three employees but none of them paid me any attention. They even had a September 11th plaque that was dated 2011.... September 11 was 2001 people. The entire restaurant is dedicated to virtue signaling and not serving good food and customer service. As a gay Democrat, I didn't feel welcome and we both left. It didn't matter as none of the employees noticed me. The clientele this place must get, if it ever does get many customers, I wouldn't feel safe around. As a veteran, I was intrigued by Mission BBQ. There is parking for veterans in front and all kinds of first responder and military memorabilia inside. With all that you would think that they would offer a military discount, NOPE!! The food was not worth it either. Both the ribs and brisket were tasteless. The sauces weren't that great either. My chopped brisket was similar to a chopped up leather boot with a pound of salt and some bbq sauce added. Dry, tough, so salty I could barely eat it. My side of fries next. You've had salty fries at McDonald's right? Add 3xs the salt and that's the amount of salt on their fries which appeared to have been cooked yesterday and reheated today. The food is good here! We ordered the 2 meat, and picked pulled chicken and smoked turkey. Both were GREAT! We had baked beans as a side and they were also very good. That dessert type thing they added in... That was AWESOME! And the sauces were FANTASTIC! It was a little slow getting our orders, which surprised me. And I got one of the cups where part of the proceeds go to The Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation, but they didn't give me a lid. I was searching all over for it, and finally went back to the register to ask, and got one. Also, they don't give a military discount, which I found surprising. The food was amazing, my wife and I loved all of the meats we tried. Even though you order at the counter the service was great and a very friendly staff. The restaurant has a cool military vibe that helps with the ambiance because without the challenge coins and military photos the layout is pretty basic. My only gripe - and yes, I know costs are up everywhere - but the prices were way higher than what Midwest BBQ should cost. We were in and out of this place in less than 10 minutes which was impressive. The manager spoke and kept us distracted will we waiting for our food. He told us about how their smokers are on and cooking 24 hours a day. I think that's what he said. I was a bit distracted as I was looking at the staff preparing orders and the mouth watering aroma coming from behind the counter. I was so distracted I didn't think to take pictures of the decor, menu or seating arrangements but I will get that next time! The staff was amazingly nice and the food is just as amazing. I love BBQ and I want to love this restaurant but I cannot give it more than a generous 3 stars. I have have visited this restaurant four times. Visit one had brisket and fries. Visit two had pulled pork, green beans and slaw Visit three had Hawaiian rib-eye, baked beans & slaw Visit four had baby back ribs, baked beans & slaw First two visits staff was keeping up with cleaning tables. Last two visits guests were wiping off tables themselves. Prices are a little high considering you get your own drinks, use disposable plastic utensils and bus your own table. However this is offset by not having to tip a waiter. They have 6 flavors of sauce at each table. I've tried them all and all are very good. Portions are generous and all meals come with a side of cornbread. I found the slaw to be dry and bland, but everything else has been very good. So why only three stars? Three of the four visits the food was served lukewarm. The only dish I could describe as "served hot" was the rib-eye steak. Each time on the very first bite I've been tempted to ask them to microwave the whole plate for a good minute. I have them four chances and it appears this is normal. If you're you're craving really good BBQ in Soringfield there are better options than Mission: BBQ, namely Hickory River and Smokey Bones. read more

Sausage was tough and the brisket was tender but no flavor. Lettuce was old with red and brown spots. Service was excellent though. I've been to this place several times and just love it. Sometimes a little salty for my taste, but the meat is always great and the sides change around so you always have a surprise waiting for you. The desserts are great, too. I like trying all the BBQ sauces. I do kind of wish they had traditional wait staff, but I can live with the system.
