We had the Seafood Combo that came with Fried Shrimp,mahi mahi, and, which included, calamari. It was served with Fried Rice, macaroni salad, and a slice of pineapple. The food was well-cooked, tasty, and visually appealing. The service was quick and efficient. The ambiance was quite pleasant for this type of restaurant. This was not a place with a hot buffet table with premade selections from which you choose. I will avoid the cliches; it was nice to have an actual Restaurant field, decor, menus offered at your table, etc. All said it was a pleasant experience, and we will return. read more

Wow what a find! This place is amazing, and the people running it are so friendly and prompt. We tried the Bao, delicious little dumplings filled with pork, and the Spam musubi which is spam and rice wrapped in seaweed. Trust and believe me when I tell you to get this, its incredible. My entree was the Grilled mahi-mahi (comes with rice, macaroni salad). The fish was perfectly tender, moist and seasoned well. So I'm a Chicago girl and Springfield food is ummmm.... different and my overall experience has been mixed. With that said, I wouldn't scrutinize a Springfield place at the same level as a Chicago one. I ordered from this place via Grubhub, my food was quickly prepared and they followed the order notes too. I had the crab rangoon, which were filled with a lot of crab meat and they had a nice light texture while being crispy (4.25/5). I also had the curry fried shrimp, they were good, came with macaroni salad and white rice. The sauce was not warm and didn't have a ton of flavor. The fried shrimp were good, well breaded and seasoned, but I would've liked something else to go with him, the overall meal was kind of bland; however, if you like fried shrimp (just by themselves) I would still suggest ordering (3.5/5). My fave of the meal was the steak Hawaiian fried rice. I ordered mine spicy. It was a nice sized portion, it had egg, onion, tomato, and a pineapple on top. There was a nice portion of steak in the rice, which I was surprised by (in a good way); the meat was well flavored and pretty tender and was good just by itself. I do wish they would have put some cut pineapple stir fried in the rice (maybe you can ask for that) and I enjoyed my rice with a side of teriyaki sauce sprinkled on top to add the sweet note to the rice (I highly suggest this too BTW!) The vegetables were actually very nicely cooked, the curry was well seasoned although over salted in my opinion. My husband ordered the chicken and steak Hawaiian BBQ. It was disappointing. The meat was a flat hammered out sheet. There was some sort of soy based dipping sauce that had the viscosity of water. Essentially it was NOT true Hawaiian BBQ. The flavor was no where near where it should be and the paper thin sheets of meat were off-putting. The macaroni salad was also not good. Hawaiian in central Illinois!! One extra star for location alone! I could not be more surprised than when I found this place on Yelp. Not only was I simply happy to find any good ethnic food in central Illinois, I was even more happy to find Hawaiian food. It is just not easy to come by even in a larger city for this part of the US. And the food is every bit as good as I had hope they would be. Not only do they have traditional Hawaiian plate lunches, they also offer Thai and Vietnamese noodles...oh my...I had to repeatedly remind myself of the abundance of Vietnamese food in Louisville. Our group of four ordered 2 plates of short rib combo, one teriyaki steak plate and a small crispy mahi mahi plate. The short rib (galbi) was the star of the show, they were juicy, sweet, smoky and chewy...so yummy we could have eaten another mound of them. The steak plate and mahi mahi plate also disappears just as fast. Mahi mahi is one fish even haters of seafood could love. We also loved the curry chicken puff appetizer. I had to pull rank for the last one! I will have something to look forward to the next time I must be in the food desert that is central Illinois (Champaign excluded). And it is worth trying samples from each. The honey garlic chicken wings are like crack on a bone. The pork and chicken katsus are pounded thin, very tender, and the panko breading is extra crunchy. Plus the BBQ sauce compliments perfectly, and the macaroni salad contrasts perfectly. The fried rice is in the thai style and quite good.
