Hours are funky. Basically closed during winter and limites hours at other times due to flooding risks and all that good stuff. Salmon Lake is ideal for boating, camping during summer and lounging around. Im not sure about swimming in the lake. Kinda sketchy depending on boats and human pollution. Night time is surreal on clear nights. The night sky illuminates all the stardust in their pure glory. The colors are different than what we cali scumbags are accustomed to seeing based on their proximity to the north. Either way. Kick back and relax. Let nature sooth your soul.

Parts in, in-house handyman installer working on in so we never had a chance to use it during our stay. Hot tub good and hot but hours of use start @ 10a.m. 9 a.m. would be better. Electric pedestal where we were at had turned off with 120v once but never again after they cycled the breaker OFF then ON. Previous reviews about intermittant 30A service may have been in ERROR. There were multiple times 30A service shut power completely on and off - randomly in the trailer. It wasn't due to the trailer's 55A power converter since mobile RV tech over phone said it would not cause complete power failure, don't bother replacing it. I tracked down a 15A fuse in the panel that would cut power off and on when pressed on when others wouldn't do anything. Replaced 15A fuse and all seems to be well. Still doesn't explain why the 120v outlet on pedestal was wonky. They have recycling for plastic, paper, aluminum cardboard but it is at top of hill and not at other garbage disposal area. Recommend paying more for premium or super premium site to get better site conditions and ameneties. That isn't a knock on this KOA, just personal experience. 4 out of 5 star ratings.

The table was crooked and on an angle making it for uncomfortable seating. It is right next to an airport and sometimes the planes are very noisy upon takeoff or landing, but did not detract from our visit. The gift shop was standard. They did have a lot of T-shirts and clothing to select from but the food area could've been improved with more selection. It was a great place to watch the Fourth of July fireworks. They also have a very nice outdoor seating area just outside of the souvenir shop --registration office where there is a beautiful view of the lake however, the motorcoach park that is just below us had preferable seating, and a closed event which limited us to Not enjoying that area for a few hours on the Fourth of July

I had reserved three nights during my stay in the region and that was smart because every site was occupied. I set up my tent quickly and took a quick photo from inside my tent before I went to sleep exhausted after a full day of hiking. I was up before dawn to get back on the trails at Glacier by 7am so I packed up quickly. Thinking I would return for the second and third nights, stormy weather derailed that plan. It's too bad because I liked this park and wanted to spend more time at my lakeside campsite. A plus was the other campers who were all incredibly quiet and respectful.

Also, it was noticed that we had been traveling (unbeknownst to us) on a blown and shredded tire on our trailer. Billy helped my husband assess the damage and offered to help change it with the spare the next day or direct him to the local tire shop. Sure enough, the next morning Billy and another RVer helped change the tire. It saved us from going to the tire shop. We really appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of this park. Billy went above and beyond to help us. We come over to this region at least twice a year, and we look forward to staying here again.

We had some other challenges that I didn't see coming. WiFi was inoperable for our entire stay. Cable television needed to be "reset" before it worked. We reserved the cabin for our adult daughter to stay in while we visited and did not know the cabin came with NO linens and NO bathroom! Lastly, with no fault to the park, the adjoining parcel of land next to our site was being developed with earthmovers, graders, and water trucks. Very noisy and we will be cleaning dust and from every crack for weeks! Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

The tent sites stretch out along the river, so you can look at the sunlight on the water as you sip your morning drink and try to wake up. The sites are notched into the woods with patches of trees in between for privacy, and handy stacks of firewood appear here and there. And if you happened to bring twelve other people with you, the massive picnic table will seat them all.

We were en-route to a longer trip and used it for one night for exactly that purpose. It is a medium size campground with 27 sites. Some are large pull through sites that would accommodate bigger RVs like the site we chose, site #5. Each Site had a picnic table and fire ring. There are pit toilets and drinking water available. There are no hookups, no showers, no dump station. There is an area to hand launch small boats. We walked across the gravel bar area to the east and were able to sit in a more private area along the river shore. A nice spot to take a break from driving and cool off in the water. I wouldn't stay here for an extended vacation, but it served our purpose well.

There isn't much of a beach, unlike other places on the lake, but great to take a boat from. Nearby islands and Polson close by too. Montana state license plate gets you in free for day use. Overnight is $24/night and they are often full. Best bet is to reserve online. Campground will be undergoing remodeling soon, which will be nice. The best option is tent camping in my opinion, because the RV sites are much too close together. The bathrooms have a serious smell problem. Great for families and long term or short term camping. Wild animals frequent area, so be bear aware. I've seen two just in the campground.

Hidden Gem!! The…read moreLost Creek State Park Campground is a hidden gem nestled deep in the woods of Anaconda but well worth the drive. There are 21 sites nestled between tall lodge pole pines that look up to massive rock walls surrounding the park. If you continue driving deep into the canyon to the back of the park you will be pleasantly surprised to find 5-6 campsites that accommodate tents as well as small RVs (we have a 13'). Our neighbor had an 18' RV & it fit snugly in the camp site. We arrived close to dark, but the bonus for driving all the way back to the end of the canyon was a beautiful bubbling stream right behind the campsites that was generated from a small waterfall that was only a 150 yard walk on a paved trail from the main road. Don, the camp host, though a rugged man, was incredibly helpful and pleasant to speak with. As soon a we arrived, he showed up in his truck and made sure we had everything we needed & went on to let us know about the waterfalls behind our campsite and the Golden Eagles nesting above. In the morning, he made it a point to come by & let us know about the Mountain Blue Bird nest at campsite 2. Even though we had to drive through some questionable looking country neighborhoods to get to the park, it was well worth the trek from I-90. Lost Creek State Park is now our new favorite camping spot in Montana. Highly recommend!
